A final year student of the Lagos State University, identified as Stanley Ipogah, was killed on the 28th of January, by a DHL-branded truck and up until now,dhl company has refused to own up to it's responsibility.
The case is pending in court and the family demands justice for their son who left behind a seven month old son....
From my inbox......
''Up till now, DHL and Excel contract Logistics Nig.ltd are still dilly dally. They sent SCIB insurance brokers and Lead-way insurance company to us who has not been forthcoming after series of minutes at the law firm of the lawyer handling the case, L.O. Ozimende & Co at No.48, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.
We have submitted all the documents they requested for including that of the late Stanislus's son. and no response from them yet. Up till now DHL and EXCELL LOGISTICS have not shown up.
We have done the autopsy and took the corpse home -Iviegbepui-Agenebode for burial on Friday 27/2/15.with so many of the student friends who shown support.
The criminal case is till in court at the OJO MAGISTRATE court. The DHL Truck is still in police custody at the order of the court and the driver in prison awaiting trial.
I attach here the charge sheet and petition sent to Panti already approved by the Deputy commissioner of police. The case comes up gain at the magistrate court next week 18/3/15. In the charge sheet the police surreptitiously omitted the fact that the truck that killed the deceased belonged to DHL which our lawyer pointed out in the court and was noted by the presiding magistrate.
The DHL and Excel contract logistics Nig ltd have failed, refused and neglected to take responsibility in this case by paying the burial expenses and/or compensation to the deceased family to take care of the 7 months old son..''
This is so sad and annoying that a branded company like DHL cannot own up to what has happened. How much will it even cost them to clean up this mess?A life was taken and a seven month old son has been left without a father to cater for him....so sad!
The family should sue DHL simple!!!

A child on a farm sees a plane & dreams of flying. But d pilot sees d farmhouse & dreams of returning home. That's life!! Enjoy yours
@Mosi_Tash_Jazzy
The truck is. NOT owned by DHL.
DeleteThat 's the mistake DHL keeps making. When you lease or sell off your trucks to logistics companies, ensure the truck is ripped off your brand name. They are too nonchalant about this.
Oh well...
Rip! Dts ppl for u. I pity d driver bc he will suffer. N after dt na sack letter.
ReplyDeleteIts not dhl fault, its d drivers fault, so dhl shud now go and pay for smthn der wrekles driver did?
DeleteNo its d dRiver that shud pay.
Pity.it is well.
ReplyDeleteI hate this. Edo people especially like to use situations like this to milk people. A life has been wasted, bury the young man and move the fuck on. How much will DHL possibly pay that will change or soften whatever situation at the moment. Fact remains, the young man is gone. This will only just keep reminding them of their pain. DHL will compensate the family now, that innocent baby no go see 1 shilling wey get hole inside.
ReplyDeleteOh please shut up! You're just ignant! Who will pay for the burial??!! Who will take care of all the other bills that are piling up as a result of the accident. Yes DHL cannot bring back the man...but this accident has incurred some bills and they have to be responsible for that. You will know that this is not the right thing to say if, God forbid, something like this happens to you.
DeleteSo true
DeleteStop swearing for an innocent soul in dis manner. It's just a kid that knows nothin.
DeleteWell, u've just sworn for urself & all UR kids to come generations till generations. Nonsensical USELUess Uselu
Babe you harsh oh! Why are you tagging Edo people like this? Yes a life has been wasted thank God you realized that it was wasted so it stands to reason that the culprits be held accountable which the family is doing & their is no need cursing them out. They just lost their son so you don't expect them to pat DHL on the back.
DeleteYes no amount of money will bring the guy back but it will make them scutinize their workers well... Have you seen the way some of these truck drivers drive? High on drugs & alchohol so free the family. Moreover how do you know they won't keep a dime for the baby? This is a sensitive issue so stop sounding so callous
I like your last statement, the baby won't see a dime,I would have preferred if the child is given a scholarship to tertiary institution and also accept to cater for the child till he graduate from the university, because the family is just looking for money to spend on themselves
Deletethey should look up to God who is the auto nd finisher of their faith, how much can earse this pain ?
DeleteWat do u mean by dis ur comment??? So d family Shud not seek justice abi...cuz is not ur broda dat died......DHL Shud compensate d family so dat dey can takia of d deceased child
DeleteSo DHL should not compensate d family? Seriously? Na wa 4 u o. I just pity d driver sha
DeleteYou are so insensitive!! Pray this sort of tragedy doesn't befall you.
DeleteFool.
DeleteYou are stupid. That is why you are in a shell. Anyone that kills you like a dirty rat will never be held accountable. Your life must be worthless for you to spew this trash. See how low you feel your life is worth. It is idiots like you that give people mind to treat Nigerians like animals. They think all they have to say is sorry. Ode, olori kongba
DeleteSo u don't understand what it means to have insurance premiums for properties or life? Since u do not know, I'll painstakingly enlighten u.
DeleteWhen a car is insured, (as with houses and other belongings) especially a commercial one as the truck in question, the insurance not only serves as cover for repairs if involved in an accident, or say it was stolen...either way, a pay out is given the owner to either fix the broken car, or to buy another one outrightly.
But in extreme cases when a life is lost during an accident or due to the carelessness of the driver, as is with the case here, if such a car has a comprehensive cover it is the duty of the insurance company to pay out a lump sum to compensate the affected. Gerit??
Therefore it is the right of the family of the deceased to pursue the monies due the departed. It is now left to them to decide what they want to use the funds for.
Your query would have made sense if u were just worried about the family misappropriating the funds.. and not u condemning them for seeking compensation due them.
Clear? OK bye
The brother is using you(stella) to pressure the company into his schemes. Ozimede is his lawyers. Less than 6 hours after the young man's death, He made a 36 million naira demand for compensation on DHL who does that when the body is cold on the ground. The Company sent them half a million cash for the burial which he rejected. He believes the company avoid bad press and bend to his demand. Well good luck to that. We seriously sympathize with family. Please go to the police station and ask for the original case fine or try and contact the Company for their side of the story. DHL is a reputable company with solid brand name and would never offer bribe.
DeleteThis ur comment just proves where you belong. Uselu. I hate it when people don't use their brain. A life was taken by a reckless driver and you want the family to just move on? Fiakwa to you.
DeleteThe ones that have cursed me out sound so poor. Hungry lot. When DHL gives the family 20 million lets see how long that will last. If the guy was alive would he have been able to work up 20million in a reasonable amount of time? The guy is DEAD! Nothing can bring him back. Going to court will only make the pain pat linger. DHL has money to waste on a good lawyer than compensation. Use your head people. The world is wicked like that. What if he died of his own carelessness? Who will take care of the bills and the child in question. I lost my own brother through someone's act of carelessness and we buried him in peace and moved on. The pain is still there 15 years after. Life is so short and when it goes you can never buy it back no matter how much you have or how much you fight. Forget what people say, you have peace when you get justice. You have peace but the pain never goes. Pain is pain.
DeleteThe one saying I'll die NA your mama go die. Idiat! Bloody wanker. All the curses, back to daft dumb senders. The one saying I'm in a shell, DRY!
Uselu hmmmn, be very careful with you choice of words, the way you choose to view pain is different to others, do you know what the late guy could have amounted to if he was still alive, haven't you heard of grass to grace story, pls don't add to people's pain by using harsh and insensitive words, there's a saying in nursing that we use "pain is relative" pain can also be defined as whatever the patient said it is, so pls don't compare your own case and the way you handled it to others, it is well with you
DeleteBumped shut up biko.
DeleteToo bad
ReplyDeleteEfe, the case is in court already. It's really a very sad situation. A life has been cut short due to negligence. The family must be compensated.
ReplyDeleteYou are. A fool with no sense
ReplyDeleteSoooo sad.... Rest in peace Stanley
ReplyDeleteThe truck doesn't belong to DHL, it's owned by a 3PV working for them & all correspondence should be directed to the 3PV. Moreover the young man is gone the family should allow him rest in peace & stop this idea of trying to milk all the milkables from the coy & should focus on taking care of his son. Good luck to all the parties though
ReplyDeleted compesation dah dey want, wen dey finally get it,ll it bring baq dia son?..
ReplyDeleteMy dear It will help with the burial and also in the upbringing of the 7 months child
DeleteThe family should sue DHL, how can they jst waste d young guy for nothing n expect them to go un punish, they should simple compensate d family.
ReplyDeleteReally pathetic. DHL should step up to their responsibility and not worsening the whole issue.
ReplyDeleteMay his soul rest in peace
ReplyDeleteTragic.........nothing can bring the dead bak but........ Stella u must enjoy me

ReplyDeleteSad sad sad !!
ReplyDeleteStella don't let them use you to pursue their selfish gains.... the truck in question is insured the insurance coy is already on this... this is why companies pay insurance.. they want to blackmail DHL into paying dem underground compensation well they have done their worst which is bringing it to this blog... no more cards to blackmail now let them sit down and wait for the insurance to finish their investigation and pay compensation due
ReplyDeleteThey wanna 2 hammer on top someone's death. they must feel dey have hit d jackpot. no amount of money can bring him back. u guys just want d money. shameless people
ReplyDeleteDHL has absolutely NOTHING to do with this.
