SEVERE CASE OF IRREGULAR PERIOD
I have a serious case of irregular periods. For almost seven years now, my period has been wildly irregular like, I only see it about 2 or 3 times a year. At first, I thought I was lucky and I liked the fact that I was not subjected to the discomfort of menstruating but now I'm really bothered especially when I think about the fact that I'm not ovulating normally.
I mentioned this to a friend and the way she reacted got me really scared, as she told me that this might affect me in the future when I try to conceive. I'm scared that when I get married, it will be really difficult for me to get pregnant. Now, I'm 19 and the last time I saw my period was last year September.
Please blog visitors, is there any adverse effects of not seeing my periods regularly and is it really going to decrease my chances of getting pregnant in future?
Thank you very much Stella.

She said she doesn't even see her period at all, only a couple of times a year, how does that translat e to issue of blood...o. That is you tryna be funny...

OK, hi y'all.
DeleteFirst babe- yes, itll be a problem as you may have anovulatory cycle. Not a big deal however, it might take just a drug. However, tests will be run also.
2nd - lochia is bleeding from the uterus following delivery. The normal pattern first 3- 5 days, it'll be very red after which it gets progressively lighter up till the 10-14 th day when it should cease. Outside this is abnormal.
What to do- get an ultrasound scan done. To rule out retained product or any abnormality. If scan says no problem, then don't sweat it too much- it'll clear ma.
Hope this helps anyone

In the field of the obstetrics, lochia is the vaginal discharge after giving birth (puerperium) containing blood, mucus, and uterine tissue. Lochia discharge typically continues for 4 to 6 weeks after childbirth.

ReplyDeleteBV please help me, I have a problem that's really bothering me.
ReplyDeleteI always have Bumps everytime I shave my underarm and sometimes down there, it doesn't matter if I use razor or Cream. Is there something i'm not doing right? Because of this i'm always conscious of myself when I wearing a sleeveless top. It's really embarrassing and annoying. Is there anybody that had a similar experience?
The suggestions I got from Google didn't help much.
SDK please post this.
You are reacting to blades and cream try waxing.
DeleteWaxing will give you worse bumps, it's not a reaction to the hair removal method per se, it's the fact that having curly/ kinky hair makes us more susceptible to in grown hairs which makes the skin above the hair follicle to form bumps.
DeleteYour best bet to avoiding the 'chicken skin' would be laser hair removal. It's pricey though but well worth the effort.
Sorry dear, go to a good supermarket and get 'safecut' or 'shavecut' (guys use this often). Its a liquid and alcohol based. After a shave (preferably with a not too sharp shaving stick, the cheaper the better, for me 100 naira pack of bics). Shave area using soapy water to moisten, be gentle, rinse out the soapy water, allow the area to dry, take some of the liquid in your palms and dab on your armpits. It may sting a bit (or a lot!). Do for up to 2days post shave. In addition, avoid re-using your shaving sticks, dispose with each use. Hope this helps.. cheers..and well by the way, I am a doctor.

DeleteI use to experience this but it stopped since I started using clippers to shave. So try using a clipper and see if it helps.
DeleteTry waxing and à fter waxing use a scrub before bathing morning and night for about two days and also when it feels like hair is about to start growing out. That's what I started doing especially for the public area and I have been bump free.
DeleteUse clipper, best solution and your problem will be history.
DeleteThanks Dearest BV, I knew I could count on you for good responses.
DeleteSDK thanks for posting.

Very true at male hormones. There was this lady way back who used to see her period once or twice in a year and she never voiced it out. One day we were all discussing about ovulation and she was asking what that was? What? In Uni? That was how we knew her plight( though she didn't see it as one then)So hairy eh. Her legs in fact from her thighs, she was so hairy. The type that exist in males alot. Thick, curly and very rough.

Lochia kwa!!!! Poster1 go to he hospital...u need drugs2 regularise ur flow
ReplyDeleteYa'all rr healed IJN...AMEN
Poster one of irregular period, go to the hospital. You may have to be placed on some hormonal drugs or so, but it is not normal and can reduce your chances of getting pregnant. I had a friend who had such a case. Just like you, she assumed it was normal, when she mentioned it to her brother who is in the medical field, his reaction alone was something else. He placed her on some drugs to correct the anomaly. I don't know if there was a correlation btw that and it taking her almost 7years to give birth. Thank God she has two kids now. Make hay while the sun shines.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend that had irregular period, actually 2 friends. One was on birth control. It helped her see her period. When she stopped taking it, period stopped aswell. The birth control was for everyday and then a different type when her period came or something(long thing). The second friend she didn't do anything about it, she was placed on bc aswell but she chose not to use it. As fate would have it, her period has been regulated. I remember then, they could see their period for 2 good months and go like 5 months without seeing it.

Lochia serosa is the term for lochia that has thinned and turned brownish or pink in color. It contains serous exudate, erythrocytes, leukocytes, and cervical mucus. This stage continues until around the tenth day after delivery. Lochia serosa which persists to some weeks after birth can indicate late postpartum hemorrhaging, and should be reported to a physician.
Lochia alba (or purulenta) is the name for lochia once it has turned whitish or yellowish-white. It typically lasts from the second through the third to sixth weeks after delivery. It contains fewer red blood cells and is mainly made up of leukocytes, epithelial cells, cholesterol, fat, andmucus. Continuation beyond a few weeks can indicate a genital lesion, which should be reported to a physician. In general, lochia has an odor similar to that of normal menstrual fluid. Any offensive odor or change to a greenish color indicates contamination by organisms such as chlamydia or saprophytic.
Lochia that is retained within the uterus is known as lochiostasis[5] or lochioschesis, and can result in lochiometra[6] (distention of the uterus - pushing it out of shape). Lochiorrhea[7] describes an excessive flow of lochia and can indicate infection.
Also there are some people after lochia they start seeing their period while some after Lochia their period seize till after weaning their child.
just see your physician
Lochia specialist...
DeletePoster 1: u have a serious case of hormone disorder. I had it 3yrs ago, and I was given series of injections and drugs correct it. Pls see a doctor asap, more especially, a gynaecologist, and then it might also be infection, may be an untreated infection, which every way, see a doctor. Poster 2: don't know what u talking about. May God heal you.

Stella lochia is a postpartum bleeding, its a bleedin or discharge after birth,i think it's stops after a week or 2
ReplyDeletePoster 1, please go and see a gynaecologist, this is no joking matter bcos if u don't see ur period it means you don't ovulate. A gynae is best suited to give you either some form of therapy or drugs. Stella no be doctor,go hospital fast.

DeleteWhy are people so judgemental? It's not fair. Did she in anyway indicate she is sexually active , looking for sex or having sex? A lot of people take things they know nothing about for granted except they have a reason to worry. Probably she mentioned it to someone who told her it's a problem that's why she came to the SDK family. It people like u that discourage other. If u have nothing good to say,beg Stella for one of her stools and whistle while reading comments. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHmm.....poster 1, you probably have PCOS (POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME). you should read about it. It is characterized by absence of or irregular periods and anovulation and low progesterone . If you have a classical case, an ultrasound of your ovaries will show multiple follicles in your ovaries instead of one dominant follicle. Some women with pcos go on to conceive naturally while others will need to be assisted with ovulation by taking fertility drugs like Clomid and/or follicle stimulating hormone injections. It's not the end of the world.
ReplyDeletePoster 2, please check that you don't have retained placenta in your womb. Is your breastmilk flowing well? Cos retained placenta messes up your hormones which in turn disturbs the hormone for milk production.
Hope this helps.
