IS FALSE LABOUR NORMAL?
I Am 37 weeks pregnant and this week have experienced 3 false labour. The
contraction will stop after getting to the hospital. My doctor said its normal that the baby is preparing to come earlier than the Edd,and that my baby and i are very ok, i should just relax. But its not easy to just relax because once the false labour starts its kind of painful till it stops, i dont want to experience that pain
again for nothing also i didnt experience it with my first child.
Now my questions are.
1. Is false labour normal?
2. Is there anything that i can do to turn this false labour in to real labour?
3. Has anyone experience it before?
Hmmm I cant wait to read what the Doctors would say concerning this cos i was a victim of flase labour and for someone who is having a first baby,it can be really scary and painful.
Let me sit and read comment!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmm, I hope 2 learn.
DeleteThey say it normal oh
DeleteIt should not be a problem afterall after 36 weeks it's a known fact that the baby can arrive anytime from then. Most are born between 37 to 39 weeks. Stop stressing and just make sure you are always around someone that can escort you when the full labour kicks in. Mum to 2.
DeleteI forgot to add that a lot of edd are out by 2 weeks either side. Just relax as baby will soon arrive and you will be soo happy that the pregnancy journey is over.
DeleteYour doctor already explained it to u, he said u and ur baby are ok, so what else do u want to hear, my advice, its not normal plz drink bitter leaf water, hope u are now satisfied hisssssss.
ReplyDeleteYour outburst z uncalled for,she only wants to hear from women who may have experienced such before, experience they say is the best teacher.
DeleteAnyway i dont really blame you cos you ve not been there before.
u'r so rude girl,u must b a kid to hv sounded ds way.started noticing u since d day u came praising urself bt all i can deduce is one spoilt, rude girl...quite opp of wat u claimed to b.u really need to grow up and fast! i wait patiently 4u to repeat dt praise stunt, then i'l lash u like a gutter kid
Deletetake pineapple, plenty of it ooo. u can finish 3 whole pineapples. it triggers labour and no side effect like castor oil.
ReplyDeletepls who knows where and how i can get a good sports bra.am breastfeeding and bouncing a ball full of milk can be quite painful. i also need a good sports wear. pls where do they sell such.
Go check stadium for the sports wear
DeleteOk... 1. False Labour is absolutely normal as it is not indicative of any danger sign.
ReplyDelete2. You do not need to do anything to turn a false labor to an established labor as long as it remains a false labor.
3. I have come across numerous women who have experienced same before...it is absolutely a normal occcurence though doesnt happen to every one
Poster you are experiencing Braxton Hicks.. minor contractions that come and then stop unexpectedly.
DeleteYou will be fine..
Yes they can aswell be Brixton hicks. Some women complain of them even earlier than 37 weeks. Some have painful ones whilst others are mild. Just relax you and baby are fine and would soon meet each other.
DeleteI had it when I was carrying my baby. My upper belle wudnt stop hurting me. Felt like labour or whatever but I sure brought tears to my eyes. Pele. Ul be fine dear.
Deleteoya In house Doctors over to y'all
ReplyDeleteSome body help me oh!
DeleteHave not seen my period which was suppose to come around 1st week of this month. I did pregnacy test= Negative.
I my friend advised me to do scan. I went to one of the best labs on the island, and they didn't see anything. I did another scan else where to be sure, they said same thing. They said my system is perfectly okay! And I don't have to worry... but there's this pain am feeling at the left side of my stomach and I feel feverish too...
Now am going for another test today.
It might be hormonal imbalance, I have experienced it before. It came through the second month. Stop disturbing urself and wasting money on scans and test cuz it will come
DeleteN.B. d delay in period can be caused by stress as well, u should relax urself. I op ds helps.
Wishing you save delivery when the time comes. Hope you go cook joof rice for Stella sugar sha?

You see that Onipanu or Motorway pedestrian bridge, go up and down it for like 5 times. I tell you that labor will turn to real labor. The comfort zone will become uncomfortable and it will push to come out. Most pregnant women embark on this mission and within 24hrs (it's even too much sef), baby don de beg to comot and face the world.
ReplyDeleteBia Stella love,

ReplyDeleteYes it is normal. It is ripening or softening the cervix in preparation for delivery. Most likely u will have a short smooth labour. Just be patient and if u get regular strong contractions and have seen ur show which looks like mucus mixed with blood u should know it's soon going to start. If u break ur waters also Pls go to the hospital immediately. Good luck
ReplyDeleteShivers@cervix!
DeleteThe thought of that checking for dilation ehn! Kaiiiiii
Hmmmmm Iphie I choose not to remember that cervix checking thing. I think its called membrane sweeping I had that thing done 3 times on me b4 active labor began.
DeleteMotherhood rocks!
My doc has thick fingers n he swept me.

Madam, you are having your second child and still asking us questions? You visited the hospital during your false labour and the gyna don answer all your questions. Why then are you asking us already answered questions.
ReplyDeleteIf you want am to be real labour, pls opt to be induced and save yourself the thinking stress.
No two pregnancies are ever the same even if you are on your 5th one. You could be lucky not to have any issue the first 4 and the 5th one would show you pepper

ReplyDeleteFirst of all what kinda false labour are u having
ReplyDeleteContractile or non contractile?
And to answer your question i dnt know what u mean by is it normal bt one thing i can tell u is that it does happen.
False labour occur in most paturient who are between 37 and 40wks
Question2...just relax alright, some parturient have been known to present with false labour on two or more instances before final active labour and delivery.
In most centres they don't even bother, based on d number of occurrence and a graded braxton, most doctors just go ahead and book her for an induction if the parturient is somewhat worried.
Most dnt even go 2dt length given and appointment, they just tell u to get sectioned and save yourself d stress
Question-over 2d mothers!!! Bt poster just be calm alright, there nothing to be worried about for now cos it sure does happen
Wish you a safe delivery!!!
it is well o. let me read more comments from our intelligent doctors and native doctors
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you don need any stress right now and there's nothing wrong with false labor. It's very normal cos you're close to the D day....but you can also try induce the Labour if you're that worried!!

Yea It is normal my dear.
ReplyDeleteBut you need your sixth sense to handle it.
You need to time the contraction if the it is consistent or not.
A lot to say my dear, but make
www.babycenter.com you best friend not just Google.

Pregnancies varies my first baby no false labor but had it in my second baby twice.
I timed the contraction it wasn't making sense to me I shoved it away on my mind, for if I tell hubby he will ferry me hospital, for experimentation on the hands of nurses.
Then the True labor landed, got ready wore my favorite mat gown and the matching slip on.
Cat-walked to the hospital, with smile.
The rest is Testimony, my little cute boy was four years last week thursday.
Sure you testimony is coming soonest my dear.
Ensure that you share it here.
Stella I sent you this since last week but yo u haven't posted it. Please post it in doctors section thanks. Stella Hun! You're doing a great job, keep it up. Am a regular reader of your blog please post this in your doctors section and please don't post my email address thank you. I got married last december and am craving for my own baby; I don't know if am anxious or impatient but I pray my prayers will be answered. I have a regular 28days cycle it became steady when I got married sha and I believe I ovulate cos I have cervical mucus for 5days. What could be the causer for not taking in of course I know is too early but I can't wait to behold my patter of tiny feet. My fellow BVs (especially mothers) am I worrying myself so much? Do every woman that have cervical mucus ovulate? How long does it take to take in? Please I need you to advice me on how to be positive. I work but is part time
ReplyDeleteCheck ur hubby too before bling urself, even if there's sperm it could still have problem,u guys shd go for full check up fast,so that if there's any problem u can start tackling it now
DeleteMy dear its very ok. Same thing happened to me and I kept running to the hospital. The docs always send me back home it wasn't funny. They got tired of me.
ReplyDeleteWhen real labor started hmmmmm just the look on my face eh u will know is the real thing.
False labor helps make the cervix softer and thinner. But don't open the cervix..
Just relax you will know when you are in active labor. Save all your strength now you will need it soon.
You are 37weeks now. It varies you can birth baby in few days time or in a matter of weeks.
Wishing you a safe delivery
It is normal. It is called Braxton Hicks contractions ie preparatory contractions which is nature's way of telling you to start packing your bags in readiness for labour .It can start from 35weeks onwards.
ReplyDeleteTo convert it to proper labour we advice that you take long walks and have regular sex as semen contains Prostaglandin which is also the agent we use for induction of labour. So there you go.Start working!!!
