Chief Bimbo Afolayan Appointed Patron Of Actors Guild UK Nollywood

The second meeting of the Actors’ Guild UK Nollywood held on 22nd March 2015 at the popular Z’bra Lounge, in Greenwich, South East London.

Attendance was impressively huge with many popular actors and personalities gracing the occasion.

Amongst these were Chief Bimbo Roberts Folayan, the out-going president of CANUK (Central Association of Nigerians in the UK),  Rita Nzelu- Okoro, popular comedian Oyinbo Princess (Clare Edun) and the popular Ghanaian actress and producer of ‘’A letter to Adam’’ Lydia Forson

HRH Theodora Ibekwe Oyebade, President of the Guild, said she was particularly excited by the attendance of Chief Bimbo Folayan, whom she named as the second patron of the Guild.

Chief Bimbo Folayan, in his address to the Guild said he felt honoured by the appointment and promised to bring in his wealth of knowledge, experience and contacts garnered and gathered over the years and from heading CANUK to benefit the Guild. He advised members to celebrate the success of one another and seek the progress of all, while also seeking to establish links and collaboration with Africa, particularly the Nigerian Guild, which is now firmly established.

He also said he would like the Guild to progress to a level where it becomes a point of reference and centre of education for actors in Africa and encouraged members to maximise the use of resources and opportunities, through workshops and seminars here in the UK to actualise this dream.

Multi award winning and renowned actress,  Rita Nzelu -Okoro, praised HRH Theodora Ibekwe Oyebade for her vision and said the formation of the Guild is a move in the right direction. She enjoined members to take the Guild seriously and work towards increased professionalism. She also advised members to ‘’put the business before the show’’ so as to make a success out of show business.

Oyinbo Princess, a popular comedian famous for mimicking the Nigerian ‘pidgin’ accent, said she was excited to be a member of the Guild. She said she was particularly excited by the open and cross cultural platform which the Guild provides for actors in African entertainment.
