The fire incident at Ascon Oil filling station at Lekki Phase 1 yesterday was contained by the Swift response of our Fire Team On ground and the Lagos State Fire Service.
Contrary to speculations online, the main building and the reservoirs we unaffected due to the safety precaution taken by the Ascon Oil company to build its discharge point away from the main building.
The incident emanated from a discharge at the point of offloading product from a tanker, engulfing two tankers and some vehicles parked by the road side. Ascon Oil has always taken safety of lives and property seriously.
It was an accident compounded by the current fuel scarcity in the country with ASCON OIL being one of the few stations with a reliable steady supply even in times of scarcity. No life was lost to the incident, the pumps are intact and emergency fire service officers were on site to contain the flames yesterday.
ASCON OIL wishes to reaffirm its commitment to serving its customers even in the face of accidents of this nature for which a company of its pedigree is always prepared. Residents and passers-by showed solidarity with the company as they contributed in no small way to contain the flames. We assure residents that we are taking measures to avert this in future.
Well done Ascon. I saw their expert response yesterday. Kudos.

Tired of topshots commercializing residential areas.....really don't see the need for banks and gas stations inside lekki1...,,,, na dem sabi sha............Stella u must enjoy me
ReplyDeleteMy dear, in fact that Lekki phase 1 has been destroyed with all the commercial what have u. It used to be quiet, neat and residential, but not any more.
DeleteYes a few stores and gas stations would have been fine on admiralty way, but way too many have emerged. I know a lot of friends who have moved out of the area because they say that they've been ripped of their residential privacy. Whatever that means, the point is that not everyone is enjoying the clustered mess in phase 1 anymore
It is well.
