Wordless Early Morning Post

Attached here is a screenshot of what Unbiased citizen posted on the issue that everyone is using to slander President Jonathan.

Alternatively, here's the direct text:

Read this very well, articulate it carefully before dropping your comments...
I am not happy with the situation of the country but I hate it: the way they disrespect and paint the president evil. I feel he has done better than his predecessor even if its not been very satisfactory. Read this!
What is corruption?
Is stealing corruption?
Can a president fight corruption.?
Is corruption a crime?
Corruption is a part of human nature, the tendency not to do the expected. a kind of defiance and an act of being unethical.its totally natural and can be controlled.
Is stealing corruption?
Well its important to draw the line between crime and corruption. stealing is purely a crime and a graduated form of corruption. corruption is not necessarily punishable but crime is. so if someone steals, let's leave it to the law enforcement agency to do their job.
Can a president fight corruption?
Everyone in a democratic setting is gilded by law. especially a country like Nigeria that operates a bicameral legislature. so it is left for the constitution to spell out what is punishable or not. if the law state that a director must account for their monthly spending and he refuse or is found to have stolen, you don't need the president to tell EFCC or the police to do their job.
asking a president to fight corruption is like telling him to be a dictator and interfere with the judicial process.then he has the power to accuse anyone and punish. then absolute power will corrupt.
Finally how do we fight corruption?
We have seen the Nigerian law makers concern themselves with irrelevant oversight functions where they even ask for bribe in the process. these are supposed law makers that are meant to strengthen the constitution as the only true tool to tackle corruption.
if our laws clearly spells out how the treasury should be managed and it States clear punishments, if the constitution gives every Nigerian the right to question the government on its spendings.if the constitution mandates the governors and chairmen to make public. its monthly spending, then corruption will be fought squarely.
Sadly the man that tried to put these things in place and respect the judiciary by organising town Hall meetings and national conference is being accused of leading a corrupt government. not knowing that we are the ones creating a favourable condition for the cultivation of corruption.
Instead we are busy asking for someone who will handpick people and punish them at will.forgetting that we run a democratic government and must respect the judiciary.
I do not care who you vote for, but be careful when you jump on bandwagons. You cannot fight corruption by throwing people to jail at will! You cannot fight corruption when those who sponsor you are corrupt!

  6. Ah!

He just took it right out of my heart!

Nigerians are just blinded by a lot of things. And they've forgotten too soon how this country was before Jonathan.

I think we should channel the energy we put in fighting and insulting the office of the president to the right venues.

Our law makers are not working, its Jonathan.
Our ministers are thieves, it's Jonathan.
Our governors are not working, its Jonathan.
The police is misbehaving, it's Jonathan.
Bokoharam is bombing and killing, it's Jonathan.

In a democratic government??? God help us.

  7. A president is accountable for how his government has been affected by corruption, has it increased or decreased during his tenure that's what the general populace are interested in.
And YES our president cannot TELL the EFCC to do their job but can how also ALLOW them to do their job without any form of interference?
It's easy to come up with a passive aggressive simplistic opinion when talking about a president and his/her roles, but if that president is Good luck ebele Jonathan who as the president of Nigeria is accountable to all the demands of the people on his democratic state, this text book definition by all means does not apply

    1. The Minister of Justice is part of the executive branch. He is appointed by the President. The President can fight corruption by appointing people of integrity who will uphold the law.

While the writer presents the president as impotent, he goes ahead and chides the lawmakers. If the lawmakers demand bribe for a bill to be passed, must the President pay it?

In a presidential system, the buck stops with him. Lets not become too simplistic in addressing the issue of corruption in Nigeria. It is obvious we have become accustomed to it to the point that we argue against prison for corrupt officials.

If Jonathan is finding it hard to fight it, lets try GMB. I just want Nigerians to take back the power from these thieving politicians

  12. I find it appalling, how little we expect of our govt. Instead of holding those we voted to serve us accountable, we make excuses for their ineptitude. Imagine Nigeria were a Plc., quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and we all were shareholders. If an Annual General Meeting is held and this present band of leaders, representing a Board of Directors, were presented for re-election, based on their report for the last 6yrs. Would u vote for them? I certainly wouldn't! It's not about partisanship. It's about results and these guys r simply not delivering!

  13. Mr man/woman, Jonathan is the ring leader of corruption in this country cos he bribes everyone including judges, army, police, DSS, SSS, EFCC, and if they refuse, they are either threatened, sacked, suspended or killed. This is the situation right now, the only way for this country to survive democratically is to vote him out. That guy needs to be jailed, he is full of deceit and parading himself as a christian, it's all lies. 15. Absolute power corrupts. Very well said. How can you fight corruption when your sponsors are corrupt? Nigerians should use their heads! We are gradually paving way for "democratic dictatorship". One man isn't the government, that is why it is a democracy. Hence, one man cannot single-handedly curb corruption.

  24. The young man made a lot of sense.
    Kudos to him.
Nigerians are shouting that they want corruption to end.
Who will end corruption if not you and I?
Almost every Nigerian has indulges in one form of corrupt practice or the other.

When you pay someone to write your exams for you, what is it?

When parents and guardians buy special canter WAEC or JAMB forms for their kids/wards, what is it?

When you sleep with a lecturer or pay for grades, what is it?
When bosses in companies employ their unqualified relatives/ friends instead of the qualified ones who are not related to them, what is it?

When pastors Nd religious leaders divert church funds to their private pockets, what is it?

When you do yahoo and succeed, what is it?

When we celebrate known criminals, whether relative or not, what is it?

When you jump queue, what is it?

When you pretend to be sick so you won't have to do your work, what is it?

When you visit a juju man to give you live portion, what is it?

When you tamper with your electricity meter to give wrong readings, what is it?

When you do illegal connection of electricity, what is it?

When you buy goods for say 10 dollars from AliExpress and sell it for 5,000 Naira to an unsuspecting customer, what is it?

When you hoard goods and sell at high prices when the goods becomes scarce, what is it?

When you protect your son, brother or friend who you know has raped, killed or stolen from someone, what is it?

When we cover the truth or attack those who dare to say the truth, what is it?

When a wife or husband cheats on his or her spouse and even knowing infect the spouse with STD, what is it?

When you as a parent favour a child more than his/her sibling(s), what is it?

When you date a married man because you want his money, what is it?

When in-laws intimidate a wife because she is yet to conceive, even though the problem might be from their son, what is it?

When you take what is meant for you and others and keep for yourself and family alone, what is it?

When you buy something for 10,000 and tell your company/ parents/ spouse/ friends or whom ever that you bought it 30,000, and expect to be reimbursed 30,000 instead of the 10k you actually spent, what is it?

The list continues, I can go on and on.
Now tell me, who is not corrupt?
    You?
    Me?
    Hahahahahaha!

The long and short of this is that we all are corrupt, me inclusive. Though some are more corrupt than the others.
While others are 'luckier' and gain more out of corruption than others. Examples, the people in the corridors of power are 'luckier' that's why we the masses jealous them and call for their heads.
The fact remains that most of us will do same, if not worse when we manage to wear their shoes.
    #fact

If we want true change, it has to begin with us as individuals.
No one can single handedly stop corruption.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is delusional.

We as individuals have to make that decision to stop our corrupt practices.
Then we will see true and positive change!

    God help us all, Amen.

  32. Another Ibo man trying to play the sentiment card. A leader leads by example, if Gej can not make public his assets why ask governors to make public their spending. A president who circumvents the law by blackmailing an army general to rig election in favor of Fayose, should do the same when fighting the war against looters. Mind you, am from the south-south as the President but don't reason with my emotions, its obvious the poster emotional.Take another case of the last fuel hike protest, why unleash the military on peaceful protest? Why is He always macho when it comes to the masses? The list is endless. True leaders take responsibility when things wrong.

You are quick to point out the big wood from another while a growing forest is gradually crippling your eyesight. Imagine the nonsense this fellow just mumuishly typed about stealing and corruption. Am not holding brief for Tinubu, if indeed there is evidence against him the Toothless EFCC should charge him to court with such. When a public official steals to enrich himself it is corruption, when a public officer willfully abuse the office he/she swore to honor is also corruption. Am sure it is a youth typing this, no wonder they call us leaders of tomorrow. Who is the leader of the party even though de facto, who nominates the chairperson for EFCC, ICPC, Ministers, Service chiefs, heads of MDAs etc. In our clime the president also annoints those seeking for electoral positions. So what is this one typing. Abeg make this election come and pass so all this nonsense go stop.

Too much of NTA documentary i guess.
Someone said this same thing yesterday.
If the president can get involved in petty issues like that of his wife and Amaechi, then he should be able to exercise his power and bring the corrupt officials to book.
Timipre was arrested after he vowed to get Bayelsa for the APC. It's now they remembered that he embezzled funds during his regime.

  45. Mr Poster wa gba yi
I am not partisan, I don't care who you vote for but I know who I am going to vote for. Nigeria have been so bastardized in the past that mediocrity has become the order and familiar face in everything we do, so when true change comes we are too scared to acknowledge and accept it because we do not understand its ways. Dr Jonathan amplify's intellectual understanding of our problems and proffers modern day solutions to it. Non of the gra gra of the old days but because we are not use to that we label and call him all sorts of name like clueless and corrupt and want to go back to the old ways of doing things. What a shame my people what a shame, NIGERIA CANNOT BE FIXED OVERNIGHT,it will take consistent modern day and pragmatic solution to fix her. Like the poster said corruption is human nature and it is not exactly stealing and it is also the cousin of nepotism Dr Jonathan is one man and can not fix Nigeria on his own but can show leadership which he is doing, the onus falls on all of us to decide to wage a war on every acts that will sabotage our country as individuals and as a group. Let the old order be respected and appreciated but now is the time for new and dynamic intellectuals to lead Nigeria.

Funds appropriated will be used accordingly, our children will have better education, electricity will be constant, there'll be good roads, good hospitals, affordable food...imagine a Nigeria where the govt knows all it's citizens and takes care of the poor, the old, the orphans, the less privileged... We want transparency! The rule of law must not favor anyone, everyone is equal!Where the voice of the people is heard! Where there's accountability.. 53. Wise words there. They think everything is by force forgetting that there is rule of law. Whoever that says that this present administration has not impacted Nigeria positively is a big LIAR. I know that things are not the way they should be and its not Mr president's fault but that of his detractors. How can he carry out his duties well when he is being distracted by insurgency. Once they see that he is doing something positive they will go and bomb a place and everyone then expect him to live everything and focus on that and if he does anything contrary he is being criticized right, left and centre. Look at the Almajeris, all the northern presidents in the past could not build schools for them but Mr president did because he knows that education is key to development. If they are informed, nobody will convince them to carry arms and kill innocent souls. I served in the north and I know first hand how those Almajeri boys come about. A typical Hausa man does not believe in training their male children. Once the male child gets to a particular age say 8, 9, 10 he is being sent out to beg and cater for himself. So tell me if such person is given something as little as fura de nunu and convinced to fight in d name of Allah with all the promises attached to it, will he say no?. The only problem I see with this administration is the issue of insecurity in fact the BH menace and who are the BH? Citizens of Nigeria!! We want to continue destroying, killing and maiming each other and expect the president to do better. We are fighting ourselves people so stop complaining. Let's stop killing each other. Let's stop the bombing, the Kidnapping then we will see how we will strive as a people because this administration is peopled orientated.
Corruption corruption corruption everywhr and my question is who is not corrupt? Corruption is in the human nature. Every politician steal. In fact you and I if given the opportunity will steal. You know why?every human being is selfish. We think of ourselves first. But its only when we let it turn to greed that it becomes a problem. Chant of change change change everywhere. What are you changing? First of all look inward, remove the spec from your eyes, be a person of exemplary character before you begin to look for something or someone to change. It starts from within.
As far as am concerned, education, agriculture, electricity, road infrastructure, etc have improved tremendously under this present administration. Let us stop fighting each other. Everyday we say no job. Tell me a president that will come to your houses and hand everyone jobs directly. There are programs set up to cater to the issue of job creation. Industries are being built, agriculture has improved. There is a scheme that takes care and provides the necessary things needed by young Nigerians who are ready to go into Agriculture. There is Youwin, a scheme set up by the government to fund young entrepreneurs with business ideas that will employ youths. An ocean does not just come, it requires the joining together of different rivers. (correct me if am wrong). Everything is step by step. Rome was not built in a day. Let us give the president a break. He deserves it. This is a democratic government. You don't expect him to send the army to arrest and jail anyone he hears steals without following due process. To me,that is jungle justice that we frown at. That is taking laws into your hands. We do not have such president. He is a man that believes in equal right. Let us give him the enabling environment to carry out his duties.
WE are the change. Our mindsets, our orientations, our ideologies need change. Let us learn to accept each other. This country belongs to all of us.
I remember in July 2012 when I finished my NYSC. We couldn't leave Katsina because they were fighting in Kano and Kaduna. . Who were the people fighting? Muslims fighting Christians and bombing churches in the north. We as a people need to change and learn to appreciate and accept each other. Live and let live.
    GOODLUCK till 2019

Remember Oduahgate, get someone to refresh your memory poster, Farluk Lawan is walking free after taking bribe from Femi Otedola. The pension fund thieves diverted 16 billion naira, the ring leader, Maina was asked by the court to pay a fine of 700k and was told to go and sin no more. The list is endless. Last but not the least, the Ekitigate trending video that was released yesterday, if we have a functional government , forensic investigation would have started by now, but this is Nigeria where anything goes. Let us vote wisely. One love.

  63. This writer shows how bad our level of education has become. If the efcc is not living up to it's expectation is it not the duty of the president to fire the chairman and re-structure the efcc? Do the president also need the efcc to sack stella odual, alison and others within his circle? a president has the power to remove the efcc chairman anytime, that is why he should take the responsibility

  64. Don't mind this Yoruba people shouting corruption. They are the most corrupt. They killed the Federal parastatals. I wish Jonathan can privatize every public sector. Tinubu is not a saint. I am sure he is eyeing the oil sector.

As for Buhari, God will not give him the opportunity to sharia Nigeria. I don't trust him, he is desperate for something.

Stella has always been pro PDP since the Goodluck administration and its a typical naija attitude - na our brother even when you are dying. GEJ would win by hook or crook and our suffering then would triple. Hopefully all these people make noise now would still be his supporters
