The Presidential elections set for February 14th is fixed right?
I am just wondering if ALL Universities should be left open during the elections...I mean wouldnt it be better if they are shut down and students asked to go home and return after elections?
Some University students are always allegedly up to no good during times such as elections and they contribute to most of the rioting that happens ....well,you know what i mean.
Shouldn't ALL Universities be shut down for one week ?
This is just in case....
What is your take on this?

no it shld be left open
ReplyDeleteIt should be left open, on the 14 is a Saturday, it won't change anything. They can just make Thursday n Friday a public holiday, so the students that are eligible to vote can go home, no need shutting it down.
DeleteThey can still be nuisances from home if they want to be nyway!may God just help d elections to come and go peacefully.
DeleteI think all schools should be shut down, including Unis
ReplyDeleteYea I think they should be shut down too. For security reasons!!!
DeleteNdi ujor akwukwo
DeleteIn my opinion universities are ment to be shut down till after the election.
ReplyDeleteI rep 17th February.
Supported.... They should close down schools especially the UNIVERSITIES.
DeleteBrilliant idea, but are sure the students will even go home. Those dat intend to partake in mischief will stayy behind
ReplyDeleteMadonna university has already given their students a mid semester break 4 d election. That sooo totful of them. Co's a normal day Fr Edeh no gbadun all dis shits! Other schools shuld plz on break @ least a week. It's not safe... and shit (election) is getting more scary everyday . Dear God plz make dis election peaceful IJN. Amen!
ReplyDeleteWell, i think it should be the student's prerogative
ReplyDeleteFebruary 14 and 28 are all Saturdays so why should schools be shut down and also inec said schools will not be closed
ReplyDelete#GODWIN
Stella I strongly agree dat they should stay at home with their guardians..cos most of these students are used as thugs during election period,at least they should be under the nose of their guardian to avoid stories that touches the heart.
ReplyDeleteStella the Feb 14th isn't fixed oh. INEC said they are meeting today to decide if to postpone or not. Am just tired of naija politics. Are they even considering those who have fixed occasions for March and April? Those who would have wedded on this year Valentine day if they had not picked 14th as their bloody election date, they want to change it.
ReplyDeleteAbeg if they like they should shut down universities or they should leave them open, it's none of my business
My baby is in nursery not university but if I had a sibling in the university now, irrespective of shut down or not I would order him/her home.
Election postponed by six weeks!!!!
DeleteThat's wots up!! All schs shud shut down!
ReplyDeleteWell, I dunno 'bout Universities. bt my skul(LASPOTECH) is goin on break...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely most student will go home
ReplyDeleteBut is better 2 shut down the university until after election.
The elections is conducted during the weekend no need of schools being shut, my opinion. Though some schools like UNN gave their students two weeks break. E good or e no good na senate go decide am.
ReplyDeleteUna good morning.
For me I wud say dey Shud close it down till afta election but even if dey say all students Shud go home...dere are still some dat will stay back.....so dey know wat best to do ohhh...
ReplyDeleteI think is better to shut all schools down till after the election
ReplyDeleteSchool being shut or not those students that are up to no good will still cause problem.
ReplyDeleteIt shld be locked abeg. Ppl shld stay indoor nd no mis-waka.i am sure the sensible parent ll order their ward home. D tension is high biko
ReplyDeleteI'm of the same view too.
ReplyDeleteAll schools should be shut down from Wednesday/Thursday next week till Monday at least.

Some people have stated travelling home to their villages because of the anticipated violence.
My in laws have been calling us to come home or at least return their grand kids.
My MILs cries woke me up this morning.
As early as 5 am, she called crying that we should come back home.
LOL.
I no dey go anywhere jare.

I guess you forgot to go anonymous today.
Hahahahahaha!
BUSTED!
I have the same thoughts as you but it doesn't guarantee that the students will go home. Also distance and finance would also keep some from going home. So regardless of whether or not school would be close,it won't stop the crazy ones from exhibiting their craziness.
ReplyDeleteBiko they shld all shot down carring my baby bump to school everyday is not fun
ReplyDeleteMa dear my girls are on Break o.
ReplyDeleteI am very sure deir school fixed that Break to coincide Wit the élections.

On a normal day,i think they should declare a break buh i guess most schools are going to be open because of the long ASUU strike that disrupted academic activities so they're probably tryna make up for it.
ReplyDeleteIts a laudable idea in case violence erupts, so students do not get stranded in "no-man's land", Able president GEG sir, please take note.
ReplyDeleteStella u r very correct
ReplyDeleteSome students registered for their PVC within the school and would have to vote where they registered. Therefore, schools can't be shut down. I expect you to have deduced this.
ReplyDeleteI pray oo!
ReplyDeleteGod knOws I need dat break lik my next breath.
But d way I dey look am, I doubt it
I ear shekarau says, schs shldnt be closed down bcos of elections.
Trust nig politicians, dey need d youths as tools for chaos.
But parents are apprehensive oo, my mum for 1 is, she az asked all of us to come home as soon as we can, say, she done load d house wit all the tins we wld need, so no 1 wld need to go out.
Hian .. I asked her if its world war 3?
I no dey go house abeg, I wld rada move in2 sch, if I feel the town isn't safe.
Where hv u bin pinkshell?
DeleteI concur
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Stella, not just universities but all schools. We need to also look out for the safety of kids within this period. We cannot rule out some pockets of violence at this time, I therefore do not understand why the minister chooses to play politics with this just to portray the illusion of normalcy to the international community.
ReplyDeleteI think all d sch shld be shut down becos d way am seeing dis election it will be v dangerous
ReplyDeleted electn weda Holdin on d 14th still skeptical, inec said yesterday that de wud hold a meetin today to finally decide
ReplyDeleteI think all the schools shld be shut down.
ReplyDeleteschools re supposed to be closed down coz d nature of Nigerian politics is always chaotic
ReplyDeleteI think it is better to shut all schools down till after the election.

ReplyDeleteIf they like they should shut it down, if they like they should leave it open, am so sure of what parents will do which is giving their children public holiday cos guess what? These people who will cause choas have their children abroad for safety. My prayer remains nothing bad should happen to anyone.
ReplyDeleteAll sch should be closed, governor's election will be bloody for real!!!
ReplyDeleteFor me it should be o for security purpose!

ReplyDeletestells thank you soo much for this i schooled in the north, niger state to be precise during the last election there was serious crisis and school was in session at night student had to go to school and later there was sought of a stampede cause of a nasty rumour, those who did not go to school that night trekked from bosso to the army barracks i was lucky my uncle came to pick me n my friend and thats how we escaped. pls let students go on break.
ReplyDeleteShut down for where?? Its even more dangerous to travel at Dis time....I have lectures next week monday-thursday and my exam starts on d 23rd of Dis month....No shutting down for Unizik students oooo and I don't really mind!!!'Except God watches a city,d watchman watcheth but on vain'.......It is well!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy fellow zikite, I concur
DeleteThe elections has been shifted till 6 wks
ReplyDeleteThe election has been postponed to six wks time. So. If all studnts go home and pple travel to their villages during the election, who is going to vote? Because m sure studnts registered where dey schl and non studnts where dey are based.
ReplyDeleteWe students in d north want universities to be shut down,so dat we can go home bcu in d north any thing can happen.
ReplyDeletethis election is the most heated up in the history of nija.worst than abacha time.the best thing is to close all the schools down for one week starting from 14 and see how it goes. yes in as much as we say nothing will happen; we can not be in denial that there is a looming war in the air which only divine intervention can stop.most churches have started prayers for God to come to our aid come this election day.there is a problem if Jonathan or buhari wins.non of the opposition region will accept.
