Shutting Down Schools During The Forthcoming Elections...

The Presidential elections set for February 14th is fixed right?

I am just wondering if ALL Universities should be left open during the elections...I mean wouldnt it be better if they are shut down and students asked to go home and return after elections?

Some University students are always allegedly up to no good during times such as elections and they contribute to most of the rioting that happens ....well,you know what i mean.

Shouldn't ALL Universities be shut down for one week ?

This is just in case....

What is your take on this?

    1. It should be left open, on the 14 is a Saturday, it won't change anything. They can just make Thursday n Friday a public holiday, so the students that are eligible to vote can go home, no need shutting it down.

  8. Stella I strongly agree dat they should stay at home with their guardians..cos most of these students are used as thugs during election period,at least they should be under the nose of their guardian to avoid stories that touches the heart.

  9. Stella the Feb 14th isn't fixed oh. INEC said they are meeting today to decide if to postpone or not. Am just tired of naija politics. Are they even considering those who have fixed occasions for March and April? Those who would have wedded on this year Valentine day if they had not picked 14th as their bloody election date, they want to change it.
Abeg if they like they should shut down universities or they should leave them open, it's none of my business
My baby is in nursery not university but if I had a sibling in the university now, irrespective of shut down or not I would order him/her home.

  19. I have the same thoughts as you but it doesn't guarantee that the students will go home. Also distance and finance would also keep some from going home. So regardless of whether or not school would be close,it won't stop the crazy ones from exhibiting their craziness.

  26. On a normal day,i think they should declare a break buh i guess most schools are going to be open because of the long ASUU strike that disrupted academic activities so they're probably tryna make up for it.

  27. Its a laudable idea in case violence erupts, so students do not get stranded in "no-man's land", Able president GEG sir, please take note.

  28. Some students registered for their PVC within the school and would have to vote where they registered. Therefore, schools can't be shut down. I expect you to have deduced this.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I pray oo!
God knOws I need dat break lik my next breath.
But d way I dey look am, I doubt it
I ear shekarau says, schs shldnt be closed down bcos of elections.
Trust nig politicians, dey need d youths as tools for chaos.
But parents are apprehensive oo, my mum for 1 is, she az asked all of us to come home as soon as we can, say, she done load d house wit all the tins we wld need, so no 1 wld need to go out.
Hian .. I asked her if its world war 3?
I no dey go house abeg, I wld rada move in2 sch, if I feel the town isn't safe.

  30. I totally agree with you Stella, not just universities but all schools. We need to also look out for the safety of kids within this period. We cannot rule out some pockets of violence at this time, I therefore do not understand why the minister chooses to play politics with this just to portray the illusion of normalcy to the international community.

  37. If they like they should shut it down, if they like they should leave it open, am so sure of what parents will do which is giving their children public holiday cos guess what? These people who will cause choas have their children abroad for safety. My prayer remains nothing bad should happen to anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The election has been postponed to six wks time. So. If all studnts go home and pple travel to their villages during the election, who is going to vote? Because m sure studnts registered where dey schl and non studnts where dey are based.

  46. We students in d north want universities to be shut down,so dat we can go home bcu in d north any thing can happen.

  47. this election is the most heated up in the history of nija.worst than abacha time.the best thing is to close all the schools down for one week starting from 14 and see how it goes. yes in as much as we say nothing will happen; we can not be in denial that there is a looming war in the air which only divine intervention can stop.most churches have started prayers for God to come to our aid come this election day.there is a problem if Jonathan or buhari wins.non of the opposition region will accept.
