Modupe Ozolua Rents Homes and Sponsors Businesses For Hundreds Of Displaced Women In Gombe

On February 12th 2015, four days after a three day research visit to several Internally Displaced Nigerians camps in Gombe, Body Enhancement Foundation returned to rent houses, donate sewing machines, cap knitting kits, cloth knitting machines, new fabrics for trading, groundnut production items, monies to start businesses, and cartons of Indomie noodles to displaced women at the Wuro-Juli in Akko LGA and The Federal Low-cost Mini (Intercessors For Nigeria) camps, Gombe.

They also gave toys to the children, and clothes to the families, which translated to over 1,000 people benefiting from their benevolence. The equipment, tools and businesses sponsored were based on what the internally displaced women informed the organization they were capable of doing to become self-sufficient again.

According to Modupe Ozolua, to properly rehabilitate fellow brothers and sisters that were fortunate to escape with their lives; firstly, they need permanent shelter, then means to earn a living to take care of themselves and their families. With these in place, they will be able to regain their dignity and re-integrate back into society.

Ozolua also stated that she is aware the men need jobs too, but in most homes, its the woman's responsibility to feed her children; that's why the foundation's empowerment program is targeted at helping displaced women.

The foundation has pledged pay for skills acquisition classes for displaced women without money making skills and promises to give them all necessary equipment needed to start their own businesses if they pass their classes. Ozolua thanked the Gombe State government and SEMA office for assisting the internally displaced Nigerians in their state and ensuring their program was successful.

Body Enhancement Foundation plans on rehabilitating more displaced women in camps within all host states.
