NIGER State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, has said that he had no sympathy for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) because his (Aliyu’s) political ambition in 1983 was truncated by Buhari, who became the head of state following the December 31, 1983 coup that ended second republic.
The governor, however, said he had forgiven the former head of state.
Aliyu said this yesterday at the President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign rally in Minna, the Niger State capital.
Apparently referring to reports listing him as one of the governors who have sympathy for the candidature of Buhari, Aliyu said he believed in loyalty and would not leave his party and support someone from another party.
“Some people are saying some of us have sympathy for Buhari; I personally, my political ambition was truncated by Buhari in 1983, my people elected me into the House of Representatives, I was annoyed but I have forgiven him. It gives me a lot of opportunity to further my study,” the governor said.
According to him, the APC presidential candidate may have “personal qualities” and may be honest but that those qualities did not translate into public policies.
He said, “I must say this, Buhari may be honest as an individual, we may admire him for his personal qualities but believe me, those qualities do not translate into public politics.
“I am a PDP man, I believe in loyalty, if I have left PDP, I would have resigned my mandate as a governor because that mandate is in PDP. If anyone says the PDP is bad, he should leave all the property and all they got while they were in the party. They cannot because they know they will lose everything. We must bring the values of honesty back,” he said.

DeleteHe's saying that being a PDP incumbent in whichever capacity attracts material benefits. Therefore a denouncement of the PDP after enriching yourself in office, is forfeiting the benefits therein. Imagine the balderdash.
As there's no other mission or agenda that they hope to achieve while in office, other than to serve their pockets, that is why he can shamefully insinuate that being wealthy is synonymous to being a PDP member.
What a display of chronic foolishness in abundance. SMH
No body is saying anything good about this Boko haram sponsor(Buhari)....

Gov Aliyu.I still like you.The man speaks from all sides(subtle endorsement here and there). His MO is excellent but then again he's a career civil servant.
ReplyDeleteThis is my take on why I'm supporting change,we are in a real rot(I have never said it was caused or started by the incumbent) and we need someone with certain "personal qualities" to first move us out of it.Its a whole cabinet of people that sees to the success of any organization. We at the moment need that singular quality(strength of character, integrity and discipline). The economy will be run by experts.Even in Banks, the MD doesn't know everything.that's why we have ED ops, corporate services, marketing etc.But as MD/PRESIDENT /GOV/BLOG OWNER etc,the head must have certain qualities.
let me paint a scenario,we come here at times lambasting Stella,if she wasn't a strong woman, she'd pull posts down or spend her whole day apologizing and explaining like some bloggers do.(you should listen at times though stellzzz).
I can go on with diff analogies.but I believe most of us have made up our minds already.Nigeria and Nigerians need sterner handling.we are strong, resilient and stubborn (sometimes myopic).I wish us the best of luck in our choices as irrespective of how we vote,we will collectively face the gains or pains together.except Stella that's tucked safety away in another country.
JEHOVAH,take control of our nation and keep us safe.remove those that mean Ill for our nation and expose the murderers of your children.FATHER,take total control.
You have written so well. The little I will add is this. If the change you point at is towards Buhari, I will advise you to do your homework properly!
DeleteYou mentioned integrity as one of the qualities we need in your desired change agent and I hereby ask you, are you the only one in Jerusalem that does not know that Buhari never had integrity since 1961? So the saga in his certificate has not proved to you that he joined the military with a letter of recommendation by his principal and never went back to write his wasc exam?
I agree with you that Nigeria needs a change but running to Buhari for this change is jumping from frying pan to hell fire, is it the change you want? If yes, go for it but that's not the change nigeria deserves.
If you want more insights, respond and we'll take it on from there. There's a lot of lies, deceits and propaganda surrounding Buhari's candidature, enlightened Nigerians know; you should know them too!
Thank you concerned Nigerian. Babaginda Aliyu subtly told Nigerians the truth. People wey one hear should hear. Sentiments and emotions takes nobody anywhere.
DeleteAnon 10:22 keep flogging a dead horse Certificate issue is now a campaign tool. You guys where blind when he contested in past elections. The Islamic issue did not fly, you brought the certificate issue which tanked and now your last paragraph will expose who. Concerned Nigerian don't bother replying, nothing meaningful will come out of this. Enlightened Nigerians know the truth, we say NO to corruption and monumental wastage.
Delete@Lovelace,
DeleteI love as you responded to expose your ignorance to the entire world. Let me enlightened you dear. Electoral Act 2011 changed the requirements of candidates contesting. It requires that whatever a candidate claims as his certificate, he or she must attach a proof. This election is the first election where this requirement takes effect and that's why Buhari is caged and locked to it. In other times he contested, showing certificates was not a requirement of the law. Please go and read the Electoral Act 2011 and stop embarrassing yourself. Being literate is not just an ability to read and write, you need to update yourself with developments in your immediate world!
Go read the Act and confirm you're not part of the enlightened Nigerians I mentioned, labour hard to get yourself in. I know what I'm talking about
Do you equally know that Buhari and inec have been taken to court because of this certificate saga? You need much more enlightenment dearie!
You may have to pay me o
10:22,I'm encouraged to continue especially since you refrained from abusive words whilst still driving your point/s across.
DeleteI have it on very good authority that the certificate issue is a non issue.I wish we could speak. It'll be interesting.
you made mention of frying pan to fire, believe me when I say we are burning up at the moment.even if all we will get is a sprinkle of foam sods,I'll take that over the present cabinet.
once more,I have no personal grievances against the incumbent.I believe he has given all that he is capable of giving(good for some, not so good for others).maybe if....... Just maybe.
It is well.
Thank you
At anon14:29 I don't want to join issues with you. The electoral law you quoted has been in existence since the inception of our democratic dispensation and only modified in 2011. Mind you GMB submitted all required documents and INEC under JEGA approved and cleared the candidate. In your (PDP) quest to tarnish the image of the General and bring him to societal ridicule, you claim the law took effect in this year's electoral process. Since you claim Buhari is caged and locked in the certificate brouhaha, why is he still in hot contention for the seat. Why is INEC and BUHARI been sued by a lawyer from the stables of PDP. Since the law took effect from this election as you alleged and the certificate he tendered has comma, INEC should have done the needful in disqualifying him or ask the party for a replacement. Knowledge is power but in your bereft mind it is a burden to you. As much I learn from this blog, I don't let the likes of you who stupidly claim to be literate influence my thinking. I cannot pay for you to teach me nonsense, I suggest you pay for a good tutor to enlighten you because in your case ignorance is no longer bliss. I also know from a reliable source that this certificate issue is paper weight and no longer news. Those who will vote should cast their vote for their preferred candidate. All I want is a peaceful election.
DeleteNice to hear from you again. I'm sorry if I've used inappropriate words in any of my posts.
DeleteThe certificate issue has not been swept away. The first day of court hearing is on Monday, 9th. You can check our newspapers.
Again, deposing to an affidavit that his certificate was with the military board and eventually admitting that he only assumed such amounts to perjury, a criminal offence!
You said you wished we could speak, that's fine with me too. I'm on Bbm, whatsapp and facebook. Let me know where we can hook up.
Will be waiting to hear from you soon
Remain Blessedm
I responded since afternoon but I don't know why I've not seen it. Let me try to repost.
DeleteI apologised if any of my comments were offensive. I then said that the result saga has not been swept away as the court is hearing the case on monday the 9th.
Again, buhari swore an affidavit that his certificate was with the military board but later said he only assumed. This amounts to a criminal offence called perjury, hanging on his neck.
Personally, I have nothing against him but the lies, deceits and propaganda surrounding his candidature are becoming unbearable!
You wished we could talk, yes! I'm on Bbm, facebook and whatsapp. Please let me know the one you prefer so we can take it further from there.
Remain blessed.
Monday 9th happens to be my birthday, so I will be there live and direct to watch the case thrown out. The election will go on come Feb 14.. No amount of pressure on INEC to postpone the elections will fly. You said you have nothing against the man personally, only for you to attest that his personal decisions is unbearable to you. We are waiting for your information concerning the lies, deceits and other propaganda against him. Na only perjury you guys wan use for court....I know you had nothing concrete to dish out. You need help ASAP.
DeleteNow who is dishing out insults. Where do we continue bc this post will be joining archives soon. Read again and see what I said about having anything personal against him. You made a wrong quote there.
DeleteAs we're staying tuned, I would like to be getting back to you as issues unfolds.
Don't know how postponement got in, never part of our discourse. How come?
Which help do I need? Seems you've run short of ideas.
Am not coming to this post again. Let me state here, 1) you insulted me first. 2) I quoted what you said even if you hide behind your I don't have anything personal against him. 3) you made mention of our national dailies carrying the whole saga of the certificate issue, as at today the news on most dailies are possible postponement of the elections to July by the ruling government. I made mention of it because you laid emphasis on our national dailies as a source of information.. No word on the purported saga. Since you claim to be abreast with the political affairs of our country, I will say you have nothing to sustain this discussion. It is you that have run out of ideas. So peace *running away like Usain Bolt*
DeleteI admire his loyalty!
ReplyDeleteAmeachi should try to emulate him,its never too late to repent...APC is full of vampires and they are sucking him dry. They have reduced him to nothing...from chairman of governor's forum to campaign manager!Chai

ReplyDeleteI agree with him Stella, because a man is honest and kind does not mean he is the best man for a job. After all when you apply for a job, they hire you based on qualifications, experience and your ability to deliver.

ReplyDelete~@iamjbankz SA to President Jonathan 2015~
From this man's statement we do not need a soothsayer to tell us that all PDP represent is lies upon lies and criminals. Atleast he has stated a very important fact that Buhari is an honest man. Nigerians should hear this and make vote wisely come february 14 2015. Do you want to vote for criminals in power or an honest man that will safeguard the economy of this great nation.
ReplyDeleteGov. Aliyu has made a good point in his statement by saying that Buhari is an honest man and PDP are full of criminals who does nothing but to acquire wealth for themselves instead of serving the masses. This is wake up call for Nigeria to use their vote wisely. Either to vote for an honest man who will give a proper account of his stewardship or the person that will continue looting our nation's treasury inorder to settle himself and his political allys. A word is enough for the wise!
ReplyDeleteGuys I was hoping Buhari would clear the doubts on how to do it different if elected during the presidential debate. Disappointedly he shunned the debate on flimsy excuses of the participating agencies being formed by Jonathan and that the questions would be revealed to him before the exercise. Am beginning to doubt his honesty. An honest man would not be afraid of any question even if it was set by his enemy. Beside there's no guarantee that students who saw the exam questions before the exam will do better than others. If I should follow his philosophy, no body should run against Usen Bolt or play against Djokovich. Elche should never play against Madrid or Barcelona because as champions they ha e greater advantage. I won't be surprise if buhari is just running away from getting himself exposed in the debate and without participating in the debate he is an invalid candidate to me. I need a president who is confident enough stand his ground
