Ddont mind students, the courts had declared the state govt as winners. The lectures should have packed out when they were in court, but no they still lived in the staff quaters which is unlawful.

  37. Short version - there was and is a case btw the state govt and University of Benin over reclaiming properties situated at the G.R.A, that housed most UNIBEN staffs, now the state won the first hearing I think at the first court and then an appeal was filed by university of benin .... The state govt didn't wait for the appeal court to give its judgement , they went on to destroy these properties in order to build on it and staff of university of Benin are alledged to still be resident in the properties under dispute.
This is what has resulted to the chaos that ensued . It started yesterday ... I guess it has now escalated .

As at six o'clock this morning the uniben main gate has. Already been blocked by the student union government and other union activist..today's. Anger was aggravated when. Some uniben lecturers were beaten by some thugs. Cars Were destroyed, heads broken the thugs. Were led by kabaka who is a loyal boy to the. Edo state governor .same kabaka and boys led the demolition of the ex vc's house @ GRA

This event led to the burning of comrade bus which make the police force deploy Over 70 armed men with about 20 police vans

When the commissioner of police came he had a word with the SUG president where he stated that the so called kabaka and gang be arrested and the demolished building be rebuilt in seven days

Currently the ugbowo Lagos road is totally blocked, students playing football on the road...but there are promises that the road would be open by 12 noon today!

The State govt won the case but the case ws filed in d Appeal Court and a stay of action has also being filed on this same matter by the Uni. Oshiomhole haven heard the initial judgement disregarded the filing @ the Appeal Court and the stay of action and turned himself into the court and bailiff and went ahead to demolish the building while the occupant were still occupying the property. Lecturers tht went there to visit the site (after a peaceful protest) were beaten up. Hence the protest this morning (after the peaceful protest yesterday)....Reporting live from B-side.

  69. The governor, oshiomhole stated that 'papers' where uniben claimed to have appealed were not presented..

    That is,
They claimed to have appealed.. Where are the papers??

The supposed property belongs to the state government.

    Lemme say a brief story.

When uniben started, it was a state property.. Later on, it became a federal property.. The Edo state government had given that property to the university of Benin when it was still theirs..

It's like you've got a pen.. You wrap it up nicely because it's yours.. A higher authority takes it from you. You wanna remove the nice wrap but the biro refuses 'cause it says the wrap's now its..

    You get??

The Edo state government won at the court..

Uniben 'appealed'. Or they intended to.. As oshiomhole said..

The government have got no papers concerning their appeal.. The government didn't know that they had appealed..

How would you appeal and your opponent wasn't served a notice??
That appeal is therefore null and void..

The destruction of the building was a warning.. They didn't destroy all of it..

    Listen..

If your landlord tell you to vacate, you con carry am go court..

He con win for court.. You con go appeal.. He wasn't served any notice.. Even the papers you use appeal, you no fit find am.. You just deyy claim i appeal.. Where your papers deyy, you no know.. Your landlord go leave you for there??

Oshiomhole tried for them sef.. Try uniben naa.. You know as dean deyy drive illegal occupants from hostel??
Shey y'all heard what he said when over 50 percent of students weren't given hostel accommodation??

I wonder where sug got those students from.. We are on hols.. How many students deyy school??

That sug president sef.. It's because he doesn't wanna look like 'swegbe'.. He doesn't want to be tagged slow.. That's why he's doing all this.. Ikhide no get mind naa..

Person wey not fit talk when he deyy campaign.. Na im con deyy carry students dey set bus on fire..

Wetin be our own sef.. Uniben never loved us..

  70. So apparently uniben filed a stay of execution but it has not been heard because the courts are presently on strike,no writ of execution had initially been filed by the state government to execute the government given in their favour, but now d issue is why wud oshiomole destroy d property? The judgement given in favour of the government was just a perpetual injunction restraining uniben from further occupation of d land not for him to destroy d house and this was the counterclaim of the government against uniben, uniben claimed they were entitled to the land but they dint have anything to prove that the proerty actually belonged to them, they only had a letter of grant or permit or whatever that was given to them by the then governor ogbemudia, permitting them to use the land, that is not enough to prove title or interest on a property, the law is like an axe n there are certain laid down principles to determine certain issues, well let's see Wat d appeal court decision will be but oshiomole was so wrong in destroying d property
