King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is dead

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz died today, Friday  “at 1:00 am (2200 GMT)” and would be buried later in the day following afternoon prayers, said the statement.

He has been replaced by Crown Prince Salman, the OPEC-kingpin’s royal court said in a statement.

The late monarch’s half brother Moqren was named crown prince, according to the statement.

King Abdullah, alleged to be 90 years old, was hospitalised in December 2014 suffering from pneumonia and helped to breathe with aid.

In recent years, his advanced age and poor health had raised concerns about the future leadership of one of the world’s key oil producers.

In March 2014, King Abdullah named his half-brother Prince Moqren as a second crown prince, in an unprecedented move aimed at smoothing succession hurdles.
Moqren, who was born in 1945, is the youngest of Abdulaziz’s sons.
Since the death in 1952 of King Abdulaziz al-Saud, the founder of Saudi Arabia, the throne has systematically passed from one of his sons to another.

RIP to him.

    4. Reason well. He is a Moslem. Also They are not like is that clamour for wealth from a dead one. They are wealthy enough. It is a shared wealth. They don't need to share anything from his own acquisition. It is rulership we are talking about.

    5. The citizens benefit from the Saudi government. The government pays for your education anywhere in the world, and still gives you feeding allowance. If you are married, they pay you and your wife and your child. ...I have like 4 of them in my msc class...They still complain that the government isn't doing enough...Imagine!
      RIP Sir.

    6. According to Islamic rites, you're buried the day you die. There's no need to confirm the authenticity of his death cos it's believed you came from Allah and to him you shall return.

  9. Take note of the words of the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) on the occasion of the death of his son, Ibraahim:
‘Our eyes are filled with tears, our hearts with grief, but we say nothing with our lips except that which pleases Allah…. Verily, to Allah we belong, and to Him we return.’ (Bukhaari)
