Jamaica is the country where you’re most likely to have a female boss. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), just under 60 percent of the Caribbean island nation’s management force is female, the highest level anywhere in the world.
53 percent of Colombian managers are female, placing it second, while another
island nation, Saint Lucia, rounds off the top three. Just over 52 percent of management there is female. Overall, the United States is in 15th place – 43 percent of all American managers are women.
Pakistan and Yemen are at the very opposite end of the scale with 3 and 2.1 percent respectively. -culled

DeleteLmao @Ammy. Abi Na weed no dey make d guys see road.....
DeleteBwahahahahahahaha
Miss Mae, to add to your point, our culture isn't favourable to women. Culture relegates women to the background; they are to be SEEN & not heard but thank GOD that's changing. #Women Power#
DeleteAmmy becky....Lmao.
DeleteSo true abt jamaicans
Its cos the guys are busy smoking wee-wee.
DeleteReally! Interesting, so their men loaf about on the streets smoking ganja and speaking patua.
ReplyDelete...and fathering bastard children. Jsmaican men are obsessed with proving their sexual prowess (although they believe going down on a woman is taboo) and a masculine image. They feel like a big "man" when they are living off different women at the same time. They believe that the women cannot do without their hot sex. They are also very temperamental , short tempered and vain, hence will get fired from a job very quickly.
DeleteGuess what though? They are like that because nearly all of them are brought up by single mothers. Jamaica must have the highest percentage of single mums in the world and this goes back to the days when slave owners actively prevented male and female slaves from forming bonds just in case the man then felt protective and decided escape (maroons) with the woman & child. Slave masters will encourage a male slave to sleep around do the females could have children because more children meant more slaves for him to sell or use for work. Generations of breeding and coding. African Americans also have a similar, albeit more dangerous and inbred problem.
Your theory is very plausible..
DeleteAnon 9:15 you are very correct.
DeleteAnony.. You smart.

DeleteNigeria is a multi cultural ethnic country. It can't work like that. That's why
ReplyDeleteYou r worried y Nigeria didn't make the list? Are u serious? I was thinking u intended writing, u r worried y dis 1 made a headline! This is no news and over nothing to d economy or lives of the people.
ReplyDeleteAll over the world, the issue of women empowerment can never be over emphasised Mr virus.
DeleteIt is a post I am very much interested in.
The fact that Jamaica made news on this is highly commendable. If you watch documentaries, you will be able to appreciate this post and the encouragement it will give the women folk.
Let's go back to the Dagenham equal pay right fight in Ford Essex car plant in the 1960's. Women stood up for that fight...It was the action that fanned out across the UK and led ultimately to the introduction of the Equal Pay Act in 1970, which outlawed discrimination on pay and conditions between men and women. Thank you
I wanted to write on Women Empowerment for my MA Thesis. My supervisor refused saying the topic was political not academic. I narrowed the topic down to an extent with WE as the isi afulu kwaba okpu. The man no gree. I called R,he called him n voila,I wrote on that(thoroughly researched tho). I worked with some rural women in a community. Women dey suffer o.
Delete#confusedtoo
Yeah Irene, some women are really suffering.
DeleteDon't be worried. Most Nigeria believes it's the duty of a man to be a boss. Some, take a perfect role of a house wife. And bla bla.
ReplyDelete«Jealous SDKer«

ReplyDelete*sipsgreentea*
@manna bee Indeed- baby mamas LMAO
DeleteThat's a good one, its a pity Nigeria didn't make the list. Having a female boss sometimes comes with its own baggage, so I feel.
ReplyDeleteHello Cynthia my namesake. Are you from Edo state?

ReplyDeleteThere are very few women as bosses here in Nigeria.. So I'm not shocked
DeleteHahahahahah me too steella...oriegwu...how are u mrs korkus
ReplyDeleteOh well....as long as women are doing well, we don't necessarily have to be bosses. Don't get me wrong now....@ least things r not d way they used to be. It will surely get better.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Women r doing well now. Not just sitting back and being house wives.. We have evolved to working or doing business and been successful at it.
Deletedon't be worried stellz, there are plenty of Nigerian ladies in managerial positions.

***CURRENTLY IN JUPITER***
impressive... we will make the list at 75% very soon.
ReplyDeleteAmen. Cos most men use their position to harass women.
DeleteImagine one wey I never get befitting adjective to address am, after interview and I qualify he was asking me for Sex before he will offer me a job in his office. I tell am to pocket him job that God has a better plan for me, I don't mix business with so called pleasure. Sex is not part of the job indicated before I applied.
If your boss is a woman just be prepared to work diligently.
Nice one! Time to relocate to Jamaica....haha
ReplyDeleteGood luck and good bye!
DeleteHow Stella. Are there jobs to enable such. How many successful conglomerate or medium scales businesses do we boast of as a country.
ReplyDeleteStella worry less, we will still get dere
ReplyDeleteThat sounds real good. So women are given spaces in Jamaica!
ReplyDeleteGood to know the women are in charge in Jamaica since their men are mostly ganja planters....
ReplyDeleteStella don't worry, Nig men are capable to take the lead while the women follow.
TessY You. Thanks I saw your response to the tuface song. Have a wonderful dayyyyyyyyy.....
DeleteThis is serious! Nigeria didn't make the list
ReplyDeleteWhich way Nigeria?
*Rmn blessed*
I think Nigerians are yet to accept that women are equally capable of holding key positions and so the women folk lag behind, but I believe very soon that orientation will change.I hope to be an employer of labour one day,I know God will take me there.Yours Sdkly dazzlinglizzy
ReplyDeleteWe will get there one day - one can only hope :(
ReplyDeleteWhy would Nigeria make the list when Women are showed the kitchen door, just like Buhari has promised to send them back to their place
ReplyDeleteHe didn't say that.
Deleteme I'm worried about no 11-14
ReplyDeleteWe wil get dere some day but no need to b worried
ReplyDeleteI still pray for d the time women will be given the opportunity for the display of our potentials.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm dts great news. Women doesn't av to be kitchen slaves n baby making machines alone dis days.
ReplyDeleteHow are we gonna make the list with our "Pull her down syndrome"? Once a woman starts doing well the rumour mills go to town .We need to emancipate our mental state first
ReplyDeleteOh my God
DeleteIs this you? Wow, wow. It's been a long time.
My country will make this list someday
ReplyDeleteChaii, nobody would quote the bible now about women being the help mate and men provider.Very selfish and self centered being(women).I fear una female bv,no sense of direction.Which man wld marry una?? A man that you can reduce to nothing? This is definately not a platform to seek wife material.Yesterday they where shouting men shld earn and take responsibilities, today they want to be managers while their husband are secretaries*hian*
ReplyDeleteThus am a woman but the truth is you make sense die. Women, we can never be satisfy.
DeleteWhen will Nigeria make such list, oga at the top will not want a female boss
ReplyDeleteWill Nigeria EVER make that list with the way men seem to get away with a lot of atrocities meted out towards women?
ReplyDeleteThe society isn't nice and encouraging to women. It's all about the MEN, MEN & MEN!
The sin of Eve! Oh why!
@iphie dearie and Irene: I wonder how dis turns out to b women empowerment? So women empowerment is when all the sectors of the life of a country is been manned by women at the expense of the male who perhaps are capable of taking such position? Women empowerment is when males are not given jobs?
ReplyDeleteWomen are capable of doing wat men are doing, but men are more capable! Women empowerment is wen women r given d chance to do what men are doing and not when women tops the list.
That women topped the list in Jamaica means that their r no capable men to do that job. There is no way a job can be given to a novice woman under d empowerment scheme at d expense of a more qualified male population if any existed at d time.
Nigeria has given women a new vocabulary #womenempowerment! Meanwhile d female population thinks what it means is when women are incharge.
Stella, stand still and see the salvation of your Lord.
ReplyDeleteI am in HR and I tell u that the amount of CVs from women are thrice as much as the ones from men.
We are getting there, only that Nigerian women can like to fear that they won't get married once they reach 25 then they will go and marry one man that will screw their destiny. Or, they will be going from church to church looking for husband and not pursuing a career or business. hehehe.... Pls let's balance it up.
Although we are trying.
@Anon 9:42- hehehehe. Welcome! I've been waiting for comments like urs.
ReplyDeleteMy dear, what we are saying is, we should be allowed to work because we weren't born to be idle. However, don't chook ya eye in our money. We will support and help when we can but you sef don't go and sleep cos u have a working wife.
And let the first option during pregnancy not be "You have to resign" as its obvious that's you people's plan.
S/O to my bro-in-law TM!! You are a darling hubby for cooperating with my sister and letting her keep her job. How many men will let their wife work in a different state, after marriage, even when they earn 6-digit salaries? And travel every weekend to visit. You are a man with a vision and God will bless you. You can do no wrong in our eyes. Esp mine... *winks*
To the mumu man talking about "you are superior to a woman and a woman can't lead you". Remember you owe your existence to a woman and it was under a woman's leadership where you could enter this world healthy and sound, and it was under a woman's leadership that you were cared for until you could care for yourself. So take your ungrateful ass and go sit it on hot coals. Now you have grown strong you forget that the first boss that ruled your mewly ass was a woman.
ReplyDeleteHow can Nigeria be on this list when all it does is worship old men with sour mouths?
Some of you need to shut your dusty asses. Jamaica does have its share of social problems, but smoking weed is something that predominantly happens amongst the lower class set, even smoking cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteJamaicans have always been an innovative ppl who are successful in areas where others will not venture. For the small island of less than 3 million people we are known for a musical art form that is continuing to evolve, world recognition for culinary dishes, the first country from a tropical climate to participate at the Winter Olympics, global beauty pageants wins, athletics, first black woman to hold a world swimming title, world renown scientists, Marcus Garvey, and now the title of most women managers.
I don't have time to sit here all day and list it all, I wouldn't get any work done. No country could achieve all of this if all the men sat at home smoking ganja. Even Nigeria with its great population, oil, and high number of educated citizens is more known globally for 419 and Boko Haram than anything else.
The reason women do so well in Jamaican society is because it is MATRIARCHAL.
