Parents Boycott Church After Reverend Says Santa Is Not Real

Parents have spoken of their disgust after a clergywoman told children that Father Christmas is not real.

Rev Margaret McPhee made the mistake during a choir concert for primary school children from Stalham Academy, in Norfolk.

During the service at St Mary's Church in the town, the curate asked pupils what they thought Christmas was about.
When one child said "Father Christmas", she replied that he was make-believe and not real.
Angry parents posted on Facebook to express their disappointment over the incident on Monday evening.

One wrote: "Sorry my child will not attend any more church services again, she would not like it if we said there was no 'God'."
Another said: "Absolutely disgusted, luckily we managed to come up with a round-about explanation so Santa remains real."

The school issued a statement saying it had received an apology from Mrs McPhee for "what she claims was an 'insensitive, off-the-cuff remark', which may have caused upset to the pupils of our academy".
It added: "As I am sure you will appreciate, the academy has no control over what the Rev McPhee has said or may say in the future.

"However, she has given us assurances that she will not be making any such comments in the future."

Mrs McPhee told the Eastern Daily Press that she regretted the upset caused.

"As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I knew I had made a huge mistake," she added. culled from telegraph

    6. You just spoke my mind Adaora, the level of begging on this blog is becoming disgusting to say the least. Stella really has to do something to put the house in order. I am not against the haves helping the have-nots but when it becomes exaggerated it scares people with humble and genuine intentions. I just pray Stella doesn't end up ruining her blog with something that started as a charitable act.God bless the givers and provide for those really in need.

    3. Listen to your doc. Different strokes for different folks, just make sure you feed him even if it's small quantity ok. Also keep everything around him clean, as he is teething his gums will itch him, he will put any available thing in his mouth, this can cause stomach upset.
Also wash your hands and his too after changing his diapers.
Don't worry your baby will be fine. God bless you.

  21. Lols...Buh the priest was right afterall. Santa was stolen “from ancient German mythology: ‘Thor was an elderly man, jovial and friendly, of heavy build with a long white beard. He drove a chariot and was said to live in the Northland . . . His element was fire, his color red. The fireplace in every home was sacred to him, and he was said to come down into it through the chimney.”—United Church Herald.

But dis Oyinbo people own too much sha.

      Delete
    2. Does it really matter?
What isn't taken from ancient mythology?

Christmas itself originated from yuletide celebration, winter solstice celebrations marked for the sun god. Frm as early as the neolithic stone ages. The stone henge in britain built in ancient times was for this. The Romans, Greeks, Japanese cultures know of this...

      Easter eggs.

      The deluge(noah's flood)

The figure the bible calls Enoch(who didn't die but ascended)

The stories of Moses, Abraham, even a virgin birthing (mary) all have mythical equivalents. If you look too much into the world, you will get disillusioned and lose faith. The point is, make what you may from what you believe.

Back to santa, though it is a myth but it is a harmless one that brightens the day for kids. That expectation. That innocence. That love and hope. Do you know those kids may have wept home to think there is no santa?

Even some of the things we believe in religion, they might or might not be real. Anything to keep the suicide ropes far.

Because if man knows the very truth of his existence, we might not even find the need to live. So thank Adam for eating just one apple. Lol.

Allow kids to be kids and believe in Santa. Don't shove the harsh reality on them. Even we as adults sometimes regret growing up and finding out how hard life really is. I'm sure the kids have more than enough time to find out that nothing comes free.

Thanks Santa Stella and Santa BVs for the smile that needy woman put on after receiving your gifts and thanks that one more baby will eat tonight because of you. You should be proud of yourselves.

My 5 n 8 yr olds were arguing abt santa in d car. My son(5years)told d sis "my teacher said there is no Santa in the world". My daughter was busy trying to convince him that her own teacher said that santa exists and always brings gift for good kids. I tried convincing my son but you know teachers are demigods in their sights.
So i asked my bobo this question ,so if santa brings another bicycle and mini-castle as your presents you will say No?. He said to me,i will take na. Then i told him that Santa only comes for good boys n girls that are good kids.
On my to-do-list is: To raise the topiC of Santa or no Santa in the next PTA.
Teachers should not shove their religious convinctions down the pupils throats.

I wil point out to my kids that santa isn't real, but there are good people with hearts of real gold who genuinely care for other people and blesses them with gifts.

I will tell them that Jesus is the reason for the season and not santa, but I'll teach them to genuinely care for others and bless them with gifts like Santa does.

It's better you take the child away from that school because once you do that kind of thing, your child would be stigmatised. Trust me. His/her classmates would take sides with their teacher and refuse to play with him/her. And it'll bounce back on you. That's how children are.
It's better you tell the school authorities like a civilised person and air your grievance. If your allegations are that reasonable, she could lose her job. Now. Which is better? Fighting like an agbero or simply reporting the case to her employees. No matter what the crime is, once you fight her, you would change the case.
