PROBLEM NUMBER ONE
WHO CONTROLS THE SEX OF A CHILD?
Good morning Stella.
Please kindly help me post this in the Doctors In House Section of your blog so that I can sample opinions of mothers and doctors regarding selection of male children at conception. My Elder sister is having issues in her marriage as her husband is beginning to mess around in the quest for a male child. I am quite surprised that in the face of open knowledge to all, a man in 21st Century could blame the sex of a child on his wife.
They have 3 lovely girls and my sister is ready to bear more if she could just birth a male for him for the peace of their marriage. I would want mothers here and medical doctors as well as people who are health savvy to share tips or ways that favour male conception. I recognise the role of God but would also like to know what man can do to aid this. Thanks.

But note that in all....It is God that gives children irrespective of whatever gender pops out.
Also remember thast some people are crying for ANYONE. Don't be ungrateful. Every child is a gift.
There shouldn't be an argument on the sex of a child because everyone knows that the man is responsible for the xy chromosome, he is not even happy that God gave them children,3 for that matter, ungrateful man!

However,his X chromosomes overwhelmed the outcome! Poor man I'm told,had accepted 'biology' for what it is. Poster,your sister's husband will get his own! Find out the vagabonds that came to be, for all those OCD men who made it a do~die affair to have a man~child! Your sister must concentrate on how to ensure that her girls are pillars of society in what ever sphere! Let her husband keep searching for a baby with a penis!

DeleteIt's God that ultimately gives a child but knowing exactly when you ovulate can help. I and 3 of my friends tried it so I'm talking from experience. My friends all had boys and I'm presently expecting a son.
DeleteWe were also educated about it in marriage class back then ( I'm Catholic .)
The sperm lasts for an average of 5 days I think( don't remember now, google it). Sperms that carry Y chromosomes swim faster but die out quickly ( like the emotions of the men they'll become *rme*). Sperms that carry X chromosomes are slower but live longer( like our personalities *grinning*). The trick is to know exactly when you'll ovulate and have sex around that time. Note that if the sperm has already been deposited days before you ovulate, its most likely the X chromosomes will still be around. I'll advice you to have sex precisely when you're ovulating or use barrier methods before then. Ovulation kits are sold in pharmacies. I didn't use them cause my cycle is regular but a friend did. I'm not good with the billings method so I cant describe it to you( using your cervical secretion to determine when you'll ovulate). Go online and find out more. This method I'm describing also has a name too that I don't remember.
Its not 100%sure. Frankly the important thing is to have a God fearing child that'll love you and frankly I tell women that a man that'll be an asshole will be one irrespective of what you do. Wether you have a hermaphrodite sef the character will be there.
Ironically DH wants only girls. He said we're more caring and his daughters will take care of him in his old age. Lol!
The only method that is 100% sure is IVF and determining the chromosomes of the fertilized eggs before implantation. Its an advanced procedure that I don't think is done in 9ja and is very expensive.

In every sperm,there is the x and y factor I think. It hen depends on which hit the egg on time. There are days meant for a baby gal or boy. Your first fertile day to the 3rd is for a gal and a day before ovulation or on the ovulation day is for a boy

So the male chromosome tend to die off after 2days but the female chromosome last for the whole of the 5days. So if you have sex on the first day of your fertile period,your xy chromosome will die off before your ovulation day while your xx will get to the egg
That been said,study your body. Study your charts. Know your body well. Know how many days your period is for. How long before the next one?/ how many days it lasts? And when your fertile time is around? Be able to pinpoint the day you ovulate from here on ward,you would be able to select your kids

DeleteLet your sister give a gap for 2years before taking in again, am talking from my cousins experience who has 5girls that senior each 9 to 10 months each, until she stop and waited for two years before conceiving again, but in all, pray and ask God for it for without him we are doing in vain. DeleteOne of these 3 is a family member. Common thing with all three is that they prayed and even took the risk of fasting while pregnant. One of them wanted a girl and the others wanted boys.
The family member already has 4 boys, and birthed the girl january this year after crying when she was told she was expecting another boy. She said she went to redeem night vigil tire and begged God that she wanted a girl and she doesn't know how He will do it o. Lo and behold she bore a baby girl... her name is Christiana...the others shared similar stories so yea I believe it can happen... no scientific explanation but God can do it if u believe.
I am not too knowledgeable in issues like this but I do know that, that Brother-in-law of yours is still living in the stone age. smh

Foods like red meat, bananas and unripe plantain r potassium filled. This strengthens the weaker Y chromo to swim faster and last longer if it has to wait for a ready egg.

Their chances of survival before conception takes place is higher since conception time is closer. So she has to give some days gap before haven any sex. And again she should not allow him get up immediately, allow him to sleep in u until d Jay Jay becomes weak and fall out by itself

DeleteBoth parties hav roles to play. Inasmuch as the guy donates the Y chromosome for male, the woman has to mak sure they meet at the peak of her ovulation. So, u see wia she comes in? The Y chromosome moves faster than the X and if it gets to the uterus and there is no egg to ferilize(the woman is nt yet ovulating) it dies off after the period of time while the x comes slowly. If the woman ovulates b4 d'X gets there, the X fertilizes the egg and it becomes a female baby. I'm no medical doctor, but I knw dis frm my biology. But then, its God that gives baby/d sex. He shud free ur sis, abeg.

I was diagnosed of PCOS and dr placed me on metformin and den clomid but I was reacting to metformin and hence was told to discontinue until I see him(I'm based in another city while we saw the doc in a teaching hosp wia my hubby stays). I came back, called to dr and he said he was on leave. I shud call him wen next I come into town, which wud be in Jan. Which kain amusu be this 1 kwanu. DH is so pissed. Instead of him to recommend anoda drug he keeps postponing. Going to another hosp wud be a beta option but then, it means spending money again and at this point, money no dey I wud hav loved to start treatment in d'city I stay pending wen I'd'relocate to join hubby. Plz my ppl, is there any natural mthds to combat this, as I'm yet to see my flow after more than 4 months and hubby is getting worried and cant wait to hear that I'm preggy. Tnx.

What d man does is to release sperm, both y send X chromosome at the same time, he does not know when d woman is ovulating, so d woman has to know when she is on her peak, in short I can't write dis long epistle right now, I am tire. DeleteAm not a doctor but a man controls the sex of the child, and the sex of the child can be planned by the parents. The man carries the XY ,Y(male) chromosome and the female has got a pair of X(female)chromosomes.
ReplyDeleteThe Y sex cell travel faster than the female X sex, the woman looking for a male Child should 1st of all be sure of her Ovulation day The exact day, and try to meet her husband on that.
The Male Sperm can last for 3days before dying the egg can last for just 12-24hrs before dying, since the Y swims faster they will get to the female ovum before the X, but if the man's sex cell were already there before the 12-24hr bracket the female ovum lives, the Y would have died off leaving only the viable X to try and fertilize the egg. Abeg this a very layman explanation, but hope it helps.

There are helpful tools your sister can use to control the sex of her next baby. They include a combination of sex positions, Chinese calendar, and even food. Google for more information. There is an old SDKB post on this. They are not fool proof. Nothing can assure one 100% while planning baby gender. That's why the Chinese women keep aborting until they get a male child since the law permits them to have only a child.
Does she have a limit for the number of children she plans to have or she will just go on till she gets a son?

One precaution she shd take is: 72hr b4 her ovulation,she shd avoid having sex or if she wants to have sex,she shd use condom because sperm can last for about 72hrs and if she den ovulates and d sperm is alredy in her tract,d probability of d X xsome(for female) meeting d egg is high cos it lasts longer dn d Y xsome(which might alredy b dead).

ReplyDeleteI have been having constant stomach upset in these past months. Not menstral pain.stomach discomfort that when I eat vegetable or sometimes 'normal' food, I stool for like 3days. I have also been having nausea bt I try to control it so I don't end up vomitting.
I have done scan and stool test but result came out clean. I don't know what is wrong. I'm tired of feeling weak each time I eat and start stooling
Now I'm even scared to eat cos I don't want my stomach to start rumbling again.pls wat do I do?

DeleteA friend once told me the trick is to stay off sex till your ovulation day and make love on your ovulation day. But then, you must have a regular cycle and be sure of your ovulation day to be able to do this. The logic behind this is that the male sperm cell swims faster than the female sperm cell but has a shorter lifespan(a day I think). So if you make love before the ovulation day the female sperm cell will outlive the male and be the one to fertilize the egg when it is released. But if you make love on the ovulation day the male sperm cell will get there first and still be alive to fertilize the egg before the female sperm cell gets there. I am not a doctor, neither is my friend, so I can't say if this works. You can do a research on it.

In line with what most of the BVs have said, I read Billings Method (love and life) when I was having my children and I was able to recognise my ovulation day. With that I was able to pre-select the sex of my children. You can get the book in any catholic church bookshop. Goodluck.

ReplyDeleteA female ovum/egg has only X chromosomes while the male sperm has both X and Y chromosomes.half of the sperms are X and half of them contain Y chromosomes. The parents each contribute one of the pair for their child.
Hence at ejaculation the male releases sperms that are both X and Y. The gender of the child depends on the chromosome of the sperm that fertilises the ovum, as the ovum is always X.
If its an X bearing sperm that fertilises the ovum, a female is formed-XX; and if a Y bearing sperm a male is formed-XY.
So you see the male is actually responsible.
Female kids are easier to get cos the ovum which lasts for about48- 72 hours after ovulation can be fertilised by a 'waiting' X bearing sperm cell as these last long and are slow.
Y-bearing sperms are more active,fast,but short lived hence to get a male child, its best to have sex on the day of ovulation or a day after so that the Y chromosome capture the ovum @ once.if there's a delay, the girl sperm does so.
This is the basic physiology of conception
For better understanding pls read ' Love and Life'-the book about natural family planning by Leonie Mcsweeny.everything is properly explained there. Plus it explains how to know you are ovulating by cervical mucus charts.
