Dimeji Bankole Movement Urges For Calm Amongst Ogun Civil Servants

Civil servants were not paid their salaries in Ogun state!....Wickedness!!!

......With the failure of the Ogun State government to pay the salaries of civil servants therefore blighting their festive season, the Dimeji Bankole movement has empathised with civil servants in the state and implored them to be patient as this would be the last year ever they would suffer such forced hardship.

In a statement issued last night by the movement said it was patently and viscerally insensitive for the Governor Ibikunle Amosun administration not to pay the workers at this time of the year.

"It smacks of sheer insensitivity and it is totally unacceptable for any government not to pay the wages of its workforce at any time of the year, much more as they depart for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. I feel for our people who have been subjected to this hardship due to the wrong decision they made in 2011 but I promise that this would not subsist. They cannot continue this way. Our people deserve better than they are getting," it stated.

While urging the civil servants to remain calm and stoic and just bid their time for the better days ahead,

The movement averred further that it has become more obvious that the Amosun administration has lost the modicum of humaneness that had sustained it over the past years. Consequently, the movement  urged the people to endeavour to collect their Permanent Voter's Card, PVC, in readiness to vote out Amosun next year and therefore bid goodbye to poverty.

Wickedness from the pit of hell....how dare this happen?why will someone work and not get paid?

    2. I hear it's same with Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and a few other states. That the federal government didn't release their salaries. I am sure that the fed govt is neck deep in 2015 campaign with all the money, forgetting that these people have families to feed and the yuletide obligations to fulfil. Very pathetic

Why will you owe civil servants their stipends for pete's sake?

Even most private businesses tried to pay their workers before 31st!! This is not fair!

No matter how bad the state of affairs are, they should have found a way to pay those civil servants especially this time/period..everything is so expensive with everybody screaming austerity measures!!! How will they cope...they force civil servants to borrow peanuts just to take care of their kids in school..

  27. I read what you wrote about the Ogun state government owing december salaries! Truth is, many civil servants are yet to receive november salaries. The government started paying from the lower cadres and most of those on the higher cadres are yet to receive till date. As at last week when I realised that many people had not been paid, in my mind I lost hope of receiving my december salary this year.
Lawyers at the state ministry of justice have bee‎n on strike since second week in november. Their allowances have not been paid for about 15months now. These lawyers risk their lives travelling from one judicial division to the other for the state. Many travel to ibadan and lagos almost on a daily basis albeit in official vehicles. What they go through in court cant be described. They face lots of hardship in prosecuting for and defending the government and yet, the same government refused to pay their allowances. Mind you, their salaries are not attractive without these allowances. These lawyers are so bitter and the government is not bothered. Instead, they carry money from the governor's office in ghana must go bags every evening.
A few months ago, the governor said the state had the highest I.G.R (Internally Generated Revenue). Please where is all the money?
Your Lawyers can not be fighting for you while you ignore them! It's just not right!

  35. Good morning Aunty Stella, I hope you are doing great. Seasons greetings to you and your family.

I am a regular visitor to your blog (i refresh your blog almost every hour so long as Light remains ´faithful`. *Lol), I just don't comment always (except on few ocassions that i comment as anonymous when the topic *enter my body*), although i now comment as 'that june girl'.

Overtime, I have come to love your blog so much because of its uniqueness and how closely blog visitors interract. It has also provided different platforms for blog readers to air, speak or pour out their minds. This is really appreciated. That is exactly what I hope to achieve with this post.
Please please and please Aunty Stella, kindly help post this on your blog. (I wanted to send this in under chronicle of blog visitors narratives but this one pass that one oh).

This post was written to appeal to all residents of Ogun State to open their eyes and 'brains' and vote wisely in the elections next year. (Please BV's I typed this from my phone and so pardon any typo error).

As elections approach and posters fly everywhere, many are of the opinion that the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, His excellency, Governor Ibikunle Amosun will not win his 2nd term bid because Civil servants are not happy with him. And the reason they always give is because during his time, *money* did not flow well. A couple of days back, I was in a taxi where the driver was discussing with us, the passengers, and he expressed his mind saying a lot of ´them` are not enjoying the Governor´s tenure because ´´road construction is not food and nobody asked him to construct roads and worst still, the dusts are unbearable``. A lot reason that he should let *money* flow and forget  beautifying the state. This is the shared opinion of many people too but me and I will explain why.

I beg to ask, would you prefer an underdeveloped State where corruption/embezzlement is the order of the day to a State that is rapidly experiencing changes and is really developing and corruption is minimal?
Ogun State is a tranquil State and the Governor as far as I am concerned is the best thing to ever happen to her. Prior to his becoming the Governor of Ogun state, I was never in support of him (not like I voted then though).  I opined that a man who has been contesting and failing should just give it a rest, maybe, just maybe becoming Governor was not his calling. My Elder brother was always going about the house saying ``SIA must win, the man has visions and good plans for the state´´. And was I proven wrong? Oh very well. The first time this man won my heart was a day I saw him at Lafenwa market, couple of months after he had assumed office, trekking, smiling and greeting market women and men (oh you should have seen me that day, I was in awe). Another day, I saw him driving, himself in Panseke market, when Onikolobo/panseke road was still under construction and I was like 'This man has liver oh'.
From that day, I started paying attention to his administration (I will fail a million times over if you ask me to guide you on Naija politics, but I understood one thing from Governor Amosun's way of politics and that is he is an advocate of Change!). I see he is a man whose vision is to bring about change to the State, change that has so far begot a rapidly developing state - My point exactly for typing this rather long epistle.
I am not an indigene of Ogun State but I live here, infact I have lived here all my life and I can tell you Ogun state saw Advancement under the governorship of its incumbent Governor.

As has come to be a norm in Nigeria, we know that once a new leader assumes office, all uncompleted projects of his predecessor is automatically put on *abandon mode* especially if they are not of the same party. It is for this reason I decided to have me some time to appeal to the good people of Ogun State especially the youths  who want continuous development to cast their votes wisely and vote for a good democratic leader, a leader who has the interest of the people at heart, a leader who knows what true leadership is all about, one who has a vision to rebuild, Vote SIA so that all his unfinished projects can be completed. Please vote wisely and vote Governor Ibikunle Amosun for a second term so he can finish all these uncompleted projects in the State and also do a lot more like his counterparts in Lagos and Edo States who have done so well for their states in terms of development (Might want to chip in that I am from Edo state and I saw a lot of changes too when I visited last).

Someone told me recently that he thinks the game plan of the APC is developing *their (for lack of the proper word to use) states in a way that will be evident to people and i replied that it is a welcome idea as long as we see the changes.

Dear people of Ogun State, If you haven't seen any changes, I wonder where you have been looking. The pictures I attached to this mail are pictures of how my Street´s junction is at the moment. The plan by the Government is to make the road a Six - lane road from the two lanes that it used to be. This road is not the only unfinished project in the State at the moment so it should not be insinuated that I wrote this in the interest of my Street/community alone. I must commend the Governor´s efforts because work has already started but it was later put on hold and I must say the dust *no be am at all*. I think this is why most people especially Taxi drivers and Okada riders are complaining. This road leads to crescent university and it is not easy on anyone at all and that is why I implore everyone to vote wisely and let our working governor finish the good works he has started. I know if not for time, work would have been completed on this road and I hear he has good plans for Lafenwa market and the state as a whole, so people please vote very well.Thank God this is not a rainy season because if it was, the grounds would have been messier. So if we do not want a messier road, let us come out and vote wisely for Governor Amosun so he can help transform Lafenwa road down to crescent University and even beyond it to Soyoye and the likes. And not just Lafenwa, but the whole of Ogun State.

I know he has good plans for the State and that is why I took the pains to write this long read.

If google is your friend, check out some of his achievements and tell me why you won´t want to vote him in again. I planned on snapping some pictures on my phone of some of his completed projects but i didn´t go past Lafenwa today and I couldn't just wait to send this in. If you are very familiar with Panseke market in Abeokuta, then you must agree with me that Governor Amosun is just the one for Ogun State. I was away for a long time and only came back recently, I couldn't just help but marvel at what has become of Panseke or is it Oke-ilewo, Totoro, Oke sokori, Omida, Sapon, Itoku, Ago oko to name a few of the places I have seen of recent. Also Ijebu Ode,  Ilishan road and Sagamu (These are places I have seen and I know there are a lot of other places).

The governor has truly given Ogun State a *face lift* and it is quite impressive and would only be wise to vote him in again and give him more time to do more good works. All he needs is time, please let us afford him the opportunity to prove his worth. On this note, I will end this lengthy piece and I hope I have appealed to someone´s sense of reasoning and judgement.

Remember, If anyone/people give(s) you a reason(s) why you shouldn't vote for SIA, remind them of how you used to be teased in School by friends that you were staying in a Village because of the ancient roads in  Ogun state but how that is no longer so because the roads have been given new *faces*. Remind them of how you used to be held up in traffic before and after the close  of work but how that is no longer so because of the flyover & overhead bridges and traffic lights now in the State which help to minimize traffic everyday and ease you of the stress you would have faced.Remind them that you have to vote for SIA so that we can have Olumo mall and let Shoprite and other big names come to Ogun State, Lol (or don't you want shoprite in Ogun state?). Remind them of the *fine fine roundabouts now in Ogun state, he he he. Remind them of the big big and fine fine buildings that are being built in the market to give Ogun state a new look.Remind them that as it is at the moment, you would rather vote for a Governor that has the interest of his people at heart than only his cabinet. Tell them you can only vote for democracy.Vote SIA for second term and experience what true leadership is all about. I know Ogun state peeps visit this blog, so let us share our views in the comment section. I will be commenting as 'that june girl' from now on.

Thank you Aunty Stella as you post this on your wonderful blog. It will really be appreciated. God bless you and to all the wonderful blog visitors, kisses
