President Jonathan Tells APC That He Will Not Resign Because Of B'haram.

The Presidency has said there is no part of the world where the President resigns during an ongoing war. It therefore challenged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to tell Nigerians where such has ever happened.

This was the Presidency’s reaction to the demand by the APC leadership, including its National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that President Goodluck Jonathan should resign due to the on-going war the members of the Boko Haram are waging on Nigeria, saying Jonathan is incompetent.

Reacting on behalf of the President, his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, asked Nigerians to ignore such calls.

The statement from the Presidency reads:

“The suggestion by one of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu, that President Goodluck Jonathan should resign from office as a result of the activities of insurgents in the north-eastern part of the country, has once again shown beyond doubt that the former Lagos State governor and his colleagues in the opposition are a bunch of political anarchists and charlatans blinded by an unbridled appetite for power.

“The assertion by Tinubu at a political rally in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday that in ‘civilised’ societies, the President should have resigned is unfounded and lacking in historical precedence.
“We challenge him to tell Nigerians which part of his ‘civilised’ world has there been a call on a President to resign during an on-going war.

“When terrorists attacked the United States of America in September 2001, the leaders of the Democratic Party did not demand a resignation of President George Bush but rather they rose in defence of the American nation to support the various measures taken by the President to defeat the al Qaeda terrorists.”
He added that it was particularly sad that the leaders of the APC would mount every available podium to pour invectives on the President and ridicule members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were in the battlefield against terror.

“Telling the President to resign because of an ongoing insurgency is the height of insensitive, indecorous and bad politics which ought to be roundly condemned by every patriotic Nigerian,” he added.

Tinubu has however insisted that any President who can’t secure his people has no business in office. culled

  5. i don't need you to resign. Just do the needful and save what is remaining in the north before these hooligans overtake the whole northern region. Simple Oga Jona. you are always saying we are on top of the situation, but it seems they are the ones actually on top of the situation.

  6. Oga, they do. Ukraine's Arseniy Yatsenyuk tendered his resignation at the height of the war the Russian rebels were waging against Ukraine. Their parliament rejected it though because they knew he was working.
While I'm not for/asking his resignation, no Nigerian's life should be exchanged for one man's political ambition. If you know you have no solutions or you're clueless about how to stop the insurgency, please ask OBJ how raise fishes and go back home.
P.S those excuses that APC/anybody created BH problems are invalid.

  8. Truth be told President Jonathan has shown that for whatever reasons best known to him he TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY LACK THE WILL AND AUDACITY NEEDED TO CURB THIS MEANACE. HE IS A WEAKLY, AND INNOCENT BLOOD ARE BEING SHED ON DAILY BASIS. He once said he knows those behind boko boys, since then what has happened? Chibok girl being married off and impregnated by boko boys what has the president done? Boko boys running over towns and yet all GEJ could do is to continue campaigning for second term.. while madam patience is busy causing problems by her constant meddling with different state affairs. Am SOUTH EAST BUT TRUTH BE TOLD GEJ HAS TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY FAILED THIS NATION. HIS TENURE SO FAR IS THE MOST CORRUPT. I CAN GO ON AND ON, I VOTED FOR HIM BUT HE TOTALLY LACKS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A LEADER not to talk of PRESIDENT OF A COUNTRY!!!!!

Pray for your country and the leaders. GEJ is only a vessel just like you, ask the Holy Spirit to direct him if you fink he is clueless. Only God can and will deliver Nigeria not PDP nor APC.
Pray also for the enemies of this country, that God will arise against them.
Pray! Pray! Pray!!! And don't judge.

    5. I remember that before now almost every president before Jonathan had been considered a failure. I am not also happy with a lot of things going on in this administration, the BH issue being the topmost. Otherwise, every other shortcoming of his is what he inherited from his predecessors. Not acceptable but a fact, which hitherto has remained unsolved or even escalated. Like I always share with my colleagues, Jonathan's numero uno issue are those who surround him. Selfish idiots who just want to enrich themselves. The man means well but he keeps trying to please those around him. I however think that his true person will be seen during his second term. I also think that he will make do away with a lot of them. The one that annoys me is the way my husband carries his matter on his head, arguing and fighting anyone who insults the man. Including ME o. It's amazing, many people still love Mr President regardless.

  12. I'm not sure he made historic research before asserting emphatically that no president has ever resigned in the face of insurgence.

However, the APC politicians and their farcical display of ewudu brooms should shuushh please. Do they think we're foolish?
Heard the republicans talking after dey won majority seat. So much sarcasm and intelligence in one piece. They convey the message without sounding too adversatorial. Noisy political riff raffs. Oniranu...

Imagine Aminu Tambuwal, a man who has cross carpeted and should resign from his post in the house for this reason is saying Goodluck should resign.
    An irony in itself.

  14. A president that is incapable of keeping his country safe from terrorist is not fit to stay in power. GEJ your time is up. Please vacate the office and let's try someone else. Your tenure has been filled with the highest rate of corruption and deaths of innocent lives.

    1. All these people d@ come under anon to insult the person and office of the president should know d@ karma is such a bitch! I've always said this and will continue to say it ' GEJ is not the problem Nigeria is faced with but a major part of the solution'. All these APCs chieftains can continue to insult the president/ the office. But we know that they are the only people behind BH and there are pictorial evidence to back it up. Is just d@ dis my President is a rule of law president if not so many people would've been jailed for their utterances if it were Buhari&co were the president(a position they'll never attain by God's grace). We all should be praying for our leaders not criticise them. GEJ is d best president so far in this country going by all the indices and with God he'll finish BH too.

  18. All of you calling for GEJ to resign should be aware of evil foundation you are trying to lay in Nigeria. Y'all know that the politic behind BOKO is APC, and because they feel power should return to the North by fire by force. Should GEJ fall to pressures, and disgrace out of office because of BOKO, then ritual has been created. Northern leaders for life, it will continue to be that way each time a president is elected from another tribe. Before you comment think twice, think about your future. GEJ is surrounded with sabos, so he cannot fight BOKO. Bola pls don't use BOKO for your campaign.
