Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan on Monday urged Nigerians, especially women to re-elect the President in the 2015 election.
The First Lady said they should show appreciation to her husband for being gender sensitive by appointing women into key political offices.
She spoke while declaring open a two-day national conference on women and 2015 election in Abuja on Monday.


The conference with the theme: “Making a Difference,” was put together by the
Independent National Electoral Commission, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and the United Nations Development Project (UNDP).
The Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, who represented the First Lady, stated that women must be ready to invest their time and resources to create more opportunities for their participations in policy making as well contribute their quota to nation’s economic and political growth.

Ochekpe, who called on the National Assembly to implement the national policy for gender, however, charged women especially political aspirants, to seize the opportunity of the conference to acquire leadership trainings and be informed of the of the proper electoral processes that would improve the country.



-. Suspected Boko Haram militants on Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorcycles attacked Damasak town in Borno State, yesterday, killing scores of residents.
The gunmen were said to have stormed the town around 7 am. The gunmen were disguised as traders to avert all kinds of suspicion.


- A Jos Federal High Court, has stopped the police from re-arresting the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Jide Awe, and four other members of the party over the alleged murder of Ayo Jeje and Juliana Adewumi when a political crisis erupted in Erinjiyan-Ekiti, Ekiti State.


- President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, Malam Shehu Sani, has condemned the last Thursday’s crisis at the National Assembly, saying that the action of the police was a clear portrayal of desperation and abuse of power by the President Goodluck Jonathan-led government.


-. Contrary to the expectation of Nigerians that coach Stephen Keshi would be fired after his failure to qualify Nigeria for the Nations Cup, the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick has given a hint that the Eagles handlers would be sent abroad for refresher course in order to prepare well for the 2017 AFCON and 2018 World Cup qualifiers.


-The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says that going by the statement credited to the SSS over the opposition-APC’s activities of cloning INEC PVC, it is clear the party is bent on doing anything to wrestle power from the its party-PDP.



-There is an ongoing report that some PDP Senators had on Monday resolved to support the impeachment moves against President Goodluck Jonathan over alleged high level of impunity and corruption being supported by his government.


- An Abuja Federal High Court yesterday struck out the terrorism charges instituted against Aminu Ogwuche, the alleged bomber of April 14 blast in Nyanya, Abuja. Presiding Judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola struck out the charges filed by the Inspector General of Police on the grounds of want of diligent prosecution.



-The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday differed on the ongoing Boko Haram insurgents activities. In Abubakar’s view, Islamic leaders had tried enough to preach against the activities of the sect, however, Oritsejafor was of the view that they had not done enough in reaching out to the insurgents regarding the true teaching of Islam.


- President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday in N’Djamena, the Chadian capital stressed on the need for Nigeria and Chad as well as other neighbouring countries to intensify joint actions and cooperation to win the war against terrorism and insurgency. Jonathan spoke at N’Djamena after a closed-door meeting with his Chadian counterpart, President Idris Deby.

  
- Report says explosion hit Cross River PDP secretariat on Monday. The incident, occurred around 5.30am and affected many buildings within the walls of the party secretariat along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar.  ---Dailypostng



-The presidency yesterday dissociated President Goodluck Jonathan from the incident that led to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal and some other lawmakers being blocked out of the National Assembly last Thursday.
Senior Special Assistant to the president on public affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe made the presidency’s position known, while reacting to an editorial published by LEADERSHIP newspaper on Monday.
The aide stated that after the Inspector General of police had come in a statement absolving the president from the action taken by the police, it was illogical for the newspaper to insist that Jonathan was behind the events that happened at the National Assembly last Thursday.


-Justice A.R Ozoemena of the Enugu State High Court has withdrawn from hearing the suit (No. E/439/2014), brought before it by Mr. Ikeje Asogwa praying the court to uphold his purported appointment as the Chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the PDP and also restrain the Defendant, Elder David Aja, who is the Deputy Chairman (now Acting Chairman) of the Enugu State chapter of the PDP from parading himself as the Chairman of the state’s PDP....Justice Ozoemena could not proceed with ruling on Motion on Notice in the suit brought by Chief Ikeja Asogwa challenging the claim to the chairmanship of the Enugu State chapter of the party by the State Deputy Chairman, Elder David Aja.
Justice Ozoemena had on November 14, 2014 taken full arguments on the Motion on Notice and adjourned the matter for November 24 for the ruling of the court.
However, when the case came up for ruling on Monday, the learned Judge said he had been receiving threat calls and messages on his phones and could therefore not go on with the case.

I totally agree with oritshejafor, all the Muslims do is bury their heads in the sand like ostriches and keep blaming Jonathan for what their demonic brothers are doing...how much preaching have you heard or prominent Muslims condemning BH? Instead they still keep preaching hate messages in mosques.... The world will be a better place without Islam.... Islamic fundamentalist have become a pain in humanity's arse......

  15. Aunt stellz, PDP can lie for Africa, there was no explosion at Cross river PDP secretariat and no building was affected.
    I know because I witnessed the presence of so many police man and other armed forces yesterday evening
    They all gathered based on a rumor bomb and till this morning no explosion don happen
    Next thing now dem go say na APC handwork
