Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan on Monday urged Nigerians, especially women to re-elect the President in the 2015 election.
The First Lady said they should show appreciation to her husband for being gender sensitive by appointing women into key political offices.
She spoke while declaring open a two-day national conference on women and 2015 election in Abuja on Monday.
The conference with the theme: “Making a Difference,” was put together by the
Independent National Electoral Commission, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and the United Nations Development Project (UNDP).
The Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, who represented the First Lady, stated that women must be ready to invest their time and resources to create more opportunities for their participations in policy making as well contribute their quota to nation’s economic and political growth.
Ochekpe, who called on the National Assembly to implement the national policy for gender, however, charged women especially political aspirants, to seize the opportunity of the conference to acquire leadership trainings and be informed of the of the proper electoral processes that would improve the country.

- A Jos Federal High Court, has stopped the police from re-arresting the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Jide Awe, and four other members of the party over the alleged murder of Ayo Jeje and Juliana Adewumi when a political crisis erupted in Erinjiyan-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Presiding Judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola struck out the charges filed by the Inspector General of Police on the grounds of want of diligent prosecution.
-The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday differed on the ongoing Boko Haram insurgents activities. In Abubakar’s view, Islamic leaders had tried enough to preach against the activities of the sect, however, Oritsejafor was of the view that they had not done enough in reaching out to the insurgents regarding the true teaching of Islam.
- President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday in N’Djamena, the Chadian capital stressed on the need for Nigeria and Chad as well as other neighbouring countries to intensify joint actions and cooperation to win the war against terrorism and insurgency. Senior Special Assistant to the president on public affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe made the presidency’s position known, while reacting to an editorial published by LEADERSHIP newspaper on Monday.
The aide stated that after the Inspector General of police had come in a statement absolving the president from the action taken by the police, it was illogical for the newspaper to insist that Jonathan was behind the events that happened at the National Assembly last Thursday.
-Justice A.R Ozoemena of the Enugu State High Court has withdrawn from hearing the suit (No. E/439/2014), brought before it by Mr. Ikeje Asogwa praying the court to uphold his purported appointment as the Chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the PDP and also restrain the Defendant, Elder David Aja, who is the Deputy Chairman (now Acting Chairman) of the Enugu State chapter of the PDP from parading himself as the Chairman of the state’s PDP....Justice Ozoemena could not proceed with ruling on Motion on Notice in the suit brought by Chief Ikeja Asogwa challenging the claim to the chairmanship of the Enugu State chapter of the party by the State Deputy Chairman, Elder David Aja.
Justice Ozoemena had on November 14, 2014 taken full arguments on the Motion on Notice and adjourned the matter for November 24 for the ruling of the court.
However, when the case came up for ruling on Monday, the learned Judge said he had been receiving threat calls and messages on his phones and could therefore not go on with the case.
I totally agree with oritshejafor, all the Muslims do is bury their heads in the sand like ostriches and keep blaming Jonathan for what their demonic brothers are doing...how much preaching have you heard or prominent Muslims condemning BH?
