Defending African champions Nigeria fell to a shock 1-0 defeat away to Sudan to slump to the bottom of Group A in African Cup of Nations qualifying.
A goal from Bakri Almadina just before half-time gave Sudan a famous victory in Khartoum.
The Super Eagles desperately needed a win to kick-start their campaign, after
suffering a shock home defeat by Congo Brazzaville and an away draw with South Africa in their opening Group A matches.
Coach Stephen Keshi, who is working without a contract, suffered a blow before a ball had even been kicked when Victor Moses was forced to withdraw because of a thigh injury.
The result means that South Africa , who overcame Congo 2-0 in Atlantic city Pointe-Noire, go top of the standings, ending Congo's 100% record....culled
What do you expect when the coach is being owed salaries?

@Sweeve why not get in there and let's see what you can bring to the table. Chatting as if you can work without a contract yourself spewing rubbish.
DeleteSwerve dear..please I don't think the coach leaving is the issue..We have had wonderful coaches like Westerhoff,Joe..sacking them sometimes does not solve the problem of the team.

ReplyDeleteHow is it a shock defeat , we expected it . What do u expect from a stubborn coach that have refused to invite d right players . Emenike that is struggling to score for club or country is our only striker when u have ikechukwu uche , we have iheanacho , Sunday Mba that won d cup for us . Forget d man jare , I tire for them. I have my life to liv and real Madrid to support
ReplyDeleteI have been saying this: for as long as the attention of football loving Nigerians is fixated on what happens in European football (some can even tell who wears the number 54 shirt in some obscure club in Siberia!) while not caring what silly politics is being played at NFF, then we shall keep getting this kind of result. We can't grow our football by depending on foreign based 'stars' - no country has ever done. We have Nigerians whose weeks are made whenever ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barca, etc win over the weekend and we don't even have a modern fully functional stadium anywhere in the country!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's other countries turn for the 'god of soccer' to favor them.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha I laugh in eeehmm# what's the name of that country in the gods must be crazy movie# when Nigeria is ready for football we would knw, right now Stella la hot let talk about my Chealsea# the blue blood runs in me# #Nazy baby#
ReplyDeleteBlame the leadership of those in the glass house and not Keshi.
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS NIGERIA.
I'm not surprised!
