''Please i beg you in the name of God to help get this to the attention of Govenor Fashola so he can asked the Rapid Respond team what exactly they did to help me when i called them at midnight.
Here is my story.
I live in the lekki axis of lagos state, Last night at about 12.20am, the security guard in my compound came knocking and pressing my apartment bell and asking my hubby to open the door that he wanted to see him for something very urgent.
My husband told him to go away that whatever he had to say can wait till this morn, he went away and came back after 5 mins repeatedly pressing the bell and asking for the door to be opened.(this lasted for an hour).
We did not open for him but instead started calling people to assist us in calling the police to at least alert our estate security at the entrance and send them to our house, a friend assisted in calling several emergency line but no help came, when he(security) was at it for almost an hour i remembered 767 and i called them, my joy knew no bounds when my call was picked after the first ring and the lady asked what the emergency was about.
I told her the story and she took my details even asked me to spell my estate name/ street name and the nearest bus stop, she then assured me they would send help. After 30 mins of waiting i called again and another lady picked and i again related my story, she said they already have the details from previous call and that help would come, but indeed help never came. This same method of using security to knock door happened to a colleague and i was really very scared.
I called them back in the morning to vent my anger and express my disapointement but all the guy that picked could say was he was sorry help was delayed, i told him there is a difference between a delayed help and a help that never came, i told him a simple call back/follow up to ensure we were alright would have been appreciated.
Stella, this guy hung the phone on me, i called back now very upset and another person picked, i told him my story and all he say too was "sorry help was delayed" and went on to ask me for my house address and phone number so they can send RSS team down, at this point i was really very upset and i told him, when we needed help in the midnight you guy's didnot send RSS, is it now that day had broken you want to send help? going further to tell him that since my call was booked, couldnt they check their records and get back to me if they wanted to follow up.
Then i ended the call, shortly after that a guy (maybe their supervisor) called me to apologise for the "delayed help'" again i told him there was no help and he said they actually contacted RSS immediately when i called. the question i asked him was did anybody follow up with the RSS? did anybody call me back?, he kept on saying sorry and then hung up.
My colleague said he experienced the same thing when he called them some time ago, please help us get the people in charge to beg this guys to really come to people's rescue when we call and also follow up, their job goes beyond picking calls and making empty promises.
Back to the securityman, all he could say was that we had a guest at "12.20am" and he wanted us to come see the person that that was why he came to knocking.
would you believe he already smashed his phone on the floor to make it look like his phone fell down while struggling with whoever? his explanation is that the phone was bad and he threw it on the floor sim and all (i have pictures). Although he has been asked to leave, i need you to help get the attention of the relevant authority to check the activity of this Rapid Response guys''.
Robbers o.....which I suspect he was part of.
ReplyDeletethe security man should be locked up. he is a thief. I can bet he had arranged with some robbers to rob you guys. the arrangement was he knocks, you open, then he lies at the end that he was used as a bait. later he goes to collect his share from the gang.
ReplyDeleteok so where is the visitor he claimed was looking for you guys now???? disappeared?
meanwhile to Rapid Response...hmnn! one chance. Its a game of luck. sometimes they respond, sometimes they don't just bother.
stay on the alert everyone!
Only in Nigeria...please remind me again what works in that country.
ReplyDeleteCorruption works. Negligence and Injustice too. Want more?
DeleteHmmmm naija is messed..so what's the essence of the RAPID in their name?is that they are short staffed or what?.Thank God you people didn't open because even if it was armed robbers, they will still direct the security man to go knock people's door.Which kain visitor wan visit person for 12:20am without prior notice?
ReplyDeleteguest no get telephone to call ,na wa for that your guest oh
ReplyDeleteNawa o. Which kin Ole security man u had? Thank God exposing him o.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for this my dear, thank God the miscreants didnt suceed.
ReplyDeleteat least u even have people to call...we are on our own in Rivers State
Oh, how i misss Lagos :(
Excuse me please, this is not true. We had an incidence some time ago at woji village in Portharcourt. Some guys were making noise and a woman was shouting in the dead of the night and there was no light. I called a few people who got my some police numbers. They came under 30minutes that day. And made some arrest. They went round the compound. They came armed to the teeth. If you don't know, ask questions. I know it is tempting to cuss out Nigeria often times but it is not all bad Abeg.
DeleteXoxo
Sharrap my friend. Which part is a lie? Is wiki port same thing or place like leaking lagos?
Deletelwkmd the security na magga o his mission is not accomplish so he was angry, tnk God u took the right step sacking him. the rapid response dey vex me o!i don't knw y Nigeria refuse to grow up? i could remb wen i went to a visit in Qatar my friend was so sick to the extent that he couldn't stand on his feet, he ask me to call 191 i called them, immediately they came and pick my friend with there ambulance straight to hospital. Niaja una well done oo.
ReplyDeleteI hate service failure
ReplyDeleteIf the service promise is not adequately given,it means the system failed!
They didn't bother getting back to you to know if you even survived whatever the challenge was, they didn't send help across..the guy now went ahead to drop your call...
The initiative is very good, but it should be worked on! When you promise the people excellent service,be ready to deliver!
Excellent service? Call those numbers in the night and one drowsy person picks the calls and keeps asking you silly questions over and over. Lekki is always like that during the ember months, sporadic gun shots at night and next day you hear that house was robbed.
Delete@ poster, don't let your guards down oh, that your wicked security guard may seek revenge cuz he was fired, tighten your security biko.
D way things are going in naija I don't think emergency number can work in dat country. ...d only good news I ve read about dat country is how they contained Ebola virus.....thank God dat nothing bad happen dT night!
ReplyDeleteBiko gbafuoo from here. Which country are you calling «Dat country» ? Asshole
DeleteProper training in customer service, emergency help and follow up would be extremely helpful to the personnel working in these centres......
ReplyDeleteSorry about your predicament, they should indeed had followed up after your request to them. In fairness to them probably they're understaffed and might not be able to cover all emergency calls they receive.
ReplyDeletePlease Lagos state government should look into it. Thanks for reporting it here am sure the appropriate authority will take note.
Ihekire Tony
ReplyDeletePoster, thank God for ur deliverance last night. Nobody knew the story u might be telling now, if not for God.

Ahahahah u people won't kill me here o.
DeletePeople should be articulate when telling stories. Don't know what to make out of this story
ReplyDeleteOlodo!
DeleteHow else do u want the poster to narrate this story?? You should blame ur brain for not comprehending well enough.
DeleteAre you saying your security man was trying to get you robbed? Nigeria needs to step up our Rapid Response team, let pple feel secure in their homes...It's not so hard to do, pick a selected few place them on stand-by, assign a leader, let those selected few be called "Rapid Response" but Nooo bureaucracy will not allow us!!
ReplyDeleteEnsure he leaves ASAP! Am glad you and your family are safe 'coz nothing would have stopped the 'guest' from forced entry. As for the 'Rapid Response Squad',we are in Naija where most things(if not all things) don't work...May God continue to protect His children.
ReplyDeleteNa wa oh. Those guys are doing nothing there. Madam, thank God for you oh. I still think that you people should press the security hard enough to get something from him. He has a lot that he is not saying. Eko oni ba je oooh *sarcastically*
ReplyDeleteMadam u sound paranoid to me oo
ReplyDeleteY won't she paranoid, u want her to get robbed first.
DeleteLuro have u ever been robbed in ur life? U sound rather stupid! Nor be by force 2coment. Op thank God nothing went wrong. May his grace continue 2sheild us amen.
DeleteOlubukoa u sound so stupid to me oh.
DeleteYou sound foolish
DeleteYou should have had your security guard arreste..
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I have been trying to comment on this blog for almost 1 week to no avail. I don't know if it's my network or something else but, it's really frustrating commenting from my android phone. I had to use my laptop to comment now. Stella please is there anything that can be done about it? Is there any other person experiencing this or is it just me? The robot thingy is on another level too
ReplyDeleteCorruption!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should have the security guy arrested and detained for questioning. Fear will not let me call any rapid response pple in naija and give them my address. I have this notion that police and robbers work together in naija.
ReplyDeleteRapid wetin??? Forget that thing, those guys are useless. Come o, who goes to visit some 1 at 12:20 am???!!!…Like WTF! The visitor could also have called you ke? I don't trust that security.
ReplyDeleteStill I don't think its OK you let him go like that, call him back and arrest him. He has to talk cus something is just wrong somewhere.
ReplyDeleteleave rapid respone, fire brigade nko? our house nearly got burnt to the ground if not for neighbors that connected hose to our tanker and added detergent and used it to calm the fire, before fire extinguishers came. we called firemen, and they were laughing, airport say them no fit give us extinguisher, army and navy say no water for tanker, if not for God, house for burn... Na God dey protect us for this country sha...
ReplyDeleteAnon 3:19 everyone making comment since understood the story, how else do you expect her to narrate it?ITk oshi...
ReplyDelete@bukola luro she sounds paranoid?i wonder how people talk at times.you better pray not to experience such...Or you expected her to be excited narrating her ordeal with the RRS?

Asking d security to leave is even more risky, he should be arrested n interrogated properly. 12midnite? She b na august visitor.
ReplyDeleteOriegwu...give ur security Man a Rapid Response Sack asap...lol
ReplyDeleteLike seriously?
The EMergency number in Lagos is useless and just a charade.
ReplyDeleteI remember calling them during a fire outbreak on my street.
The same sets of imbecile kept screaming "We are sorry", "We are sorry".
I kept saying, you need to just inform us the effort made and the likely time line, what i heard is "We are sorry"
What nonsense !!!
Hmmmm
ReplyDeleteThank God for your life. Nobody responds to cries for help anymore these days. Not even those whose duty it is. May God help us - Mrs. Bee
You're even lucky. We had robbers shooting on my street, trying to get into my estate. The 767 lady shouted at me because I didn't know the nearest bus stop to my house (I had just moved and I have a car). To cut the long story short, she cut the phone on me and told me to call back when I knew where the nearest bus stop is.
ReplyDeleteLASG and RSS need to answer just one question for me - we're the police planning to come to our rescue by bus???Useless people. Don't be fooled oh, there is no RSS coming to save you in Lagos. If you rely on them, OYO for you.
Ewu! Dem ask for d bus stop so dat dem go use am as reference point. If person just tell U Iyabo street and he no put near Sabo bus stop, how u wan take trace am for d whole Lagos? Ewu! Ewu! Ewu!
DeleteRapid ko slow ni, If I hear say naira get RSS, abegi
ReplyDeleteI can't find my comment
ReplyDeleteEwu! Wetin u write wey internet chop am? Ewu! Ewu! Ewu!
DeleteIt's my first time to comment after doing olofofo for 2 years and!
ReplyDeleteEwu! Ur mates dey hustle. U dey do olofofo. Ewu! Ewu! Ewu!
DeleteHe is a robber. Just wondering if it was safe to sack him. You should have called the police to arrest him and make him write an undertaking that he will be held responsible if an armed robbery attack is made on you guys. I pray it doesn't happen though. Thank God for granting you the wisdom not to open.
ReplyDeleteI think it's time we clamour for state police, am positive if it's Lagos state government that is in charge of police.... u will get help.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. But the fact that response didn't come for you does not mean the 767 emergency is totally not effective. Its a project that improves by the day..they've provided rescue for me twice when I needed them.
ReplyDeleteYa
ReplyDeleteWow! a very big thanx to every who showed empathy, we are really a big family here and i pray that none of u will never have to go thru what i went thru. I can only continue to thank God for delivering my family. @ Odogwu Ezewanyi i love your sence of humour, but no thanx; i will pass on the advice. @ Olubukola & Anon 11.56pm, why would i lie about a thing like this? perhaps you can call 767 for verification.
ReplyDeleteThe emergency line is trying o. After 5minutes we called them for a street robbery, they came but the RRS siren alerted the robbers and they fled.
ReplyDeleteI live in Ketu and was robbed on 9th April, I called RRS they responded in 20mins but unfortunately the robbers were with us in the house while the RRS guys were trying to locate my house they. I think the emergency response works but unfortunately Civil servants will always be civil servants. Write to the commandant of RRS and the LSSTF quoting the dates your case will be treated and most likely the erring operator fired. I can bet on this
ReplyDeleteLagosian will not cease to amaze me, I think people need to know there is a different between a call center agent and the agencies. The agent you called got all your information and relayed it immediately to the agency in charge.Pls stop blabing about the agents that picked your call, how I wish the effort you put into writting this was what you put in getting your security guard arrested maybe you would have come up with something more reasonable. I have personally called 767 several times and the response was rapid.those guys are trying a beg.
ReplyDeleteLagosian will not cease to amaze me. Do we need lectures to know that call agents are different from agencies. The agent you called will get all the information's and relayed it to the agencies immediately. And for the person that said an agent shouted at her, that was a fat lie. All there calls are been recorded and listening to by their analyst. How I wish the strength you put in writingt this piece was put into getting your security man arrested it could have been better. I have called 767 several times and the response was rapid.pls stop blabing and get your facts right.
ReplyDelete@ Abbygeal, Since you know so much about this agencies(peharps you work there) why not do a writeup on this blog to educate us who do not know. Have you ever been in need and didn't have any body to help out? do you know how it feels? That you called them several times probably due to your connection and they responded doesn't mean every body will get same treatment. My advice to you is to stop blabbing and use your strenght and energy to look for accomodation in a more secured environment so you wont have to be calling RRS every time, am sure they are tired of your calling sef.
ReplyDelete@remyne o, why are you so pained?that was a childish talk because they didn't respond to her case doesn't make the whole project useless,it has worked for some people...pple Like you should not be calling emergency, you should be able to get a good guard naww...ewu
