Villarreal forward Ikechukwu Uche has denied claims by Stephen Keshi that he demanded for apology before honouring the Super Eagles’ invitation.
Keshi on Wednesday revealed the pint-sized player was not invited for the African Nations Cup qualifiers against Congo and South Africa because he wanted to be begged.
“He was supposed to be part of the team that is presently in camp but he said we must beg him first to play for Nigeria because he was left out of some competitions but I can’t beg anyone to play for Nigeria, impossible. That’s why he is not here,” Keshi said in a statement issued by Super Eagles media officer, Ben Alaiya.
Reacting to this accusation, the former Getafe player said he never demanded for any special treatment to play for his country.
“It’s an honour to play for Nigeria. I don’t expect to be begged or given special treatment. I’m available when/if considered for selection,” Goal quoted Uche as saying on his Twitter handle.
Uche fell out with the “big boss” during the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa and missed the Confederations Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup in the process.culled
*So what exactly is the problem and why did he not honour the invitation to camp? Some of these footballers like to hold Nigeria to ransom before they hit camp.
NFF should please look for new talents and drop all the ones who now think they are larger than life...Mscheeew!
Keshi seems to me like a troublesome somebori
ReplyDeleteI wonder what his wife would be passing through in his hands.
Throwing banters here and there like a market woman.

Corrupt mind

ReplyDeleteI don't think he was called am sure he would have honoured the invitation..he's a good player and should be proud to play for us
ReplyDeleteI have a huge crush on the man. Ikechukwu, pls marry me naa. I'm very beautiful too..Goes hunting for IK.
ReplyDeleteKESHI TOO DEY LIE! I am very sure he didn't call this guy, Keshi is fond of collecting egunje from players before calling them.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who to believe.
ReplyDeleteHis name is not among the invited players even at the World Cup too. Why not invite him first and see if he will not come.
ReplyDeleteStella, I like your blog but you should always try to remain OBJECTIVE in your opinion. You started by referring to Ikechukwu as "PINT-SIZED" which I think is very very derogatory in this context. How do you know Keshi really invited him to camp?? did you see a copy of mail sent to him or call log from Keshi to Ikechukwu? Don't be too hasty to conclude please!
