The Council of Babalawos in Northern Nigeria has urged security agencies in the country to investigate a former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff and Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika within 40 days otherwise it would be forced to sue the men for allegedly financing terrorism.

The Peoples Democratic Party has opposed the resumption of Ambassador Rufus Akeju as the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State.

The Director of Media and Strategy of the PDP in Osun State, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, said this in a statement in Osogbo on Monday.

The party said it was curious that the REC who conducted the election, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, was changed to allow Akeju to return as the Osun REC.

The opposition party claimed that with the return of Akeju, the All Progressives Congress would now have unhindered access to falsify the election materials used for the poll.

Following recent promotions and retirements in the Nigerian Police force, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba yesterday appointed new Commissioners of Police for 21 states of the federation with CP Kayode Aderanti moving to Lagos as the new CP. He takes over from AIG Manko who is now in charge of Zone 2.

CP Usman Baba is the new Commissioner of Police in charge Delta State. He was formerly in charge of Police Cooperative at Force headquarters.

CP Dan Bature is the new Commissioner of Police in charge of Rivers State. He takes over from AIG Tunde Ogunsakin. CP Paul Okafor is the Commissioner of Police in charge Kogi State. He was formerly DCP attached to Police Pensions.

CP Wilson Inalegwu is the new FCT Commissioner of Police. He takes over from AIG Joseph Mbu Joseph; CP Hyacinth Dagala is the Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue State. CP Usman Yakubu is Commissioner of Police Nasarawa State.

CP Isaac Gabriel Achong is the new Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State and CP Idris Farouk Umar is the new Commissioner of Police in charge Jigawa State.

Others are CP Salihu Garba, Commissioner of Police Kwara state, CP A.K. Shodipo, Commissioner of Police Oyo State, CP Abubakar Marafa is Commissioner of Police, Osun State, CP Clement Adoda is moved to Borno state as the Commissioner of Police, CP Karma Hosea Hassan is the new Commissioner of Police, Anambra state.

He takes over from AIG Bala Nasarawa who is the AIG in charge Force Intelligence at Force headquarters.

Furthermore CP Titilayo Busari is moved to Cross Rivers State as Commissioner of Police; CP Valentine Ntomchukwu is moved to Bayelsa State as Commissioner of Police.

THE All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ondo State and the state government, yesterday, disagreed on the planned employment of 2,000 into the state teaching service six years into the present administration.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko had, last week, directed the immediate massive recruitment of 2,000 teachers into the state’s teaching service by the Teaching Service Commission.

But the APC in a statement in Akure picked holes in the exercise.

The party’ Publicity Secretary Abayomi Adesanya described the exercise as “deceptive and a mirage to cajole the people ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Adesanya argued that the recruitment exercise did not have a genuine back up and was propaganda by the government.

He claimed the state had not witnessed any meaningful development since the inception of the Mimiko led administration, saying, “what Ondo State people witnessed, since February, 2009, in the scope of employment and empowerment are nepotism, discrimination and partisanship.

THE Bring Back Goodluck 2015 campaign, has called on Nigerians to gather at different venues in their localities from 3pm to 6pm daily and plead with President Goodluck Jonathan to contest next year’s presidential elections.

The group’s National Coordinator, Mr. Chinedu Okpalanma in a statement said: ‘’We were the first organisation in Nigeria that mobilised Nigerians to march on our streets as early as March this year, showing solidarity for this administration and calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to run again in 2015. A governorship aspirant in Lagos State, under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has said the compelling need to take the developments recorded  by former governors of the state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the incumbent, Mr. Raji Fashola, SAN, to another level, informed his ambition to govern the state in 2015.

His exact words were: “Now, you won’t answer me but when I do a negative story on you, you will know how far”, said Shirley who was utterly disgusted by the development.

“He didn’t do it just once, he repeated it many times and has been repeating it consistently now. I don’t know what negative story he can do on me but I am well aware how far these kind of bloggers can go to fabricate stories. I have been hearing about it and now somebody is trying to make me a victim”, she said.

Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has told President Goodluck Jonathan to hold back his apology over the killing of his three sons and 31 other members of his group, Shiite Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
El-Zakzaky lost 34 of his members on July 25 in Zaria, Kaduna State during a clash with the military at a procession to mark the annual Quds Day.

On Monday, the cleric told visiting Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, in Zaria that he expected nothing but justice from the government.

He said President Goodluck Jonathan called him on the telephone to apologise to him on the killings but he rejected it out-rightly.
