Nurse Infected With Ebola - Pics

Obi Justina Ejelonu was one of those that treated Late Liberian Patrick Sawyer who died of Ebola in Lagos .Justina and her colleagues gave thanks to God for sparing them from contracting the virus but have tested positive

pic from USAfricaonline

She shared this on her social media handle

“I never contacted his fluids .i checked his Vitals, helped him with his food.(he was too weak)…..i basically touched where his hands touched and dats d only contact. not directly wt his fluids.@a stage, he yanked off his infusion and we had blood everywhere on his bed…..but d ward maids took care of that and changed his linens with great precaution. Every patient is treated as high risk ….if it were airborne, by now wahala for dey. i still thank God.”

“Friends, up to our uniforms n all linens were burnt off. we r on surveillance n off work till 11th.Our samples v long bn taken by WHO n so far we v been fine.
For me, kudos to my hospital managt cos we work proffessionally wt every patient considered risk cos that’s d training. had it been its a hospital where they manage ordinar gloves lik Govt hospital n some janjaweed private hosp..:lol….wahala for dey o.i must also thank Lagos Govt….infact! Even fed govt sef….all been supportive. im good n so r the others in d hosp…..”

Justina went into quarantine after that post and has now tested positive to Ebola. Some Nigerians however have started an online campaign to pressurise the US government to give Justina and others down with the virus the same experimental drugs used for US doctors down with Ebola.

poor girl,I pray she survives this!

  14. I have said this before and am still saying it, There are alternative doctors in USA that know how the human body can heal itself, the best thing now is how these people can boost their immune system. Why can't we just give these doctors a chance?

    1. Well said
..i have been following the 2 American doctors story aside from the serum that was given to them, they said their vital signs are checked regularly .In case they need any thing via vital signs they know and they give it to them. For instance,if their vital sign shows dehydration and low blood they transfuse blood and electrolytes to them.
In all the victims need good care. Saw some victims in Sierra Leone and liberia come out of it safe.
My prayers to this victims and I pray they get the necessary medical attention they need.
I suggest room should be given to those who have ideas on how to curb this Ebola further.
I saw a comment on previous post from a woman whose hubby's idea on handling Ebola was rejected. Hmmm, dear Nigeria Govt Ebola is not about out image nor our keeping up appearances ooo. It doesn't know whether your. poor/rich, Govt/masses.
Let all hands be on deck to stop Ebola now!!!

The people who survived in Zaire and Congo didn't get no vaccine.

I'm no medical personnel but based on what I've read, a sure way to defeat it is for the bodies of victims to strengthen her immune system to fight it. Medical personnel, over to you to shed more lights on this.

    http://blogs.unicef.org/2014/08/07/ebola-in-sierra-leone-the-joy-of-survivors/

Let us not despair, there is hope - some people have survived and with time the survival rate will get higher. We will be very careful but whatever happens, we shouldn't lose our positivity and overcomers mentality. It is well.

    Ps 61:2-4
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Those infected in Nigeria were all infected as a result of an American citizen's stubbornness. The man was one of their own and he brought this evil upon those who tried to care for him. Why is the US waiting for it to be a widespread epidemic before doing the needful???

My wife is a nurse just like Justina. She goes to work every day. I imagine my wife in her shoes and can't bear to think abt this! I strongly suggest a two to three weeks sit at home exercise nationwide so w can known true position of thgs. This will to a large extent prevent freshcases. HeHealth workers she be properly sensitized abt their jobs and the US she help out with the already infected ppl

We have brains and the financial capacity to research and bring in these medical companies into Nigeria. America is taking care of their citizens, why can't Nigeria do the same?
As for the experimental drug, it is clearly written experimental, if they give this nurse now and something bad happens to her, all of you begging will turn around and insult the Americans. So Nigerians should just shut up and allow them develop the drug properly or if we can't wait then go into laboratories and start researching.
My heart goes out to the nurse infected.
