1. Former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu confirmed his official defection to the PDP yesterday when he picked up the Adamawa state governorship nomination form under the party’s platform. Ribadu said he had already applied to the national leadership of the party for a waiver to contest the party’s governorship primary in Adamawa. The form was however picked for the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission by his political associate, Alhaji Ahmidu Mahmoud.

2. Four more people undergoing treatment for the Ebola Virus Disease were on Monday discharged from the Lagos treatment centre after being certified free of the virus. The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, made this known in a statement that was issued on Monday. Chukwu while speaking through his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Mr. Dan Nwomeh, said that the four discharged persons were made up of two male medical doctors, a female nurse and another female patient.

3. Resident doctors in Lagos, on Monday embarked on a massive protest against the Federal Government over the sack of resident doctors in the country. The doctors were mainly members of the Lagos State chapter of Nigerian Medical Association. The protest was staged at the Lagos state University Teaching Hospital, Idi- Araba.

4. Former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has debunked media report that he is the coordinator of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, a campaign group supporting the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan. The Media Aide to Obi, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, had in a statement to journalists on Monday cleared that the former governor was not even a member of TAN.

5. Ohanaeze Youth Congress have sounded a second warning to President Jonathan that a referendum be conducted to make way for the implementation of the recommendations of the National Conference. National President of the OYC, Ikechukwu Isiguzoro told reporters in Umuahia, Abia State capital, on Monday that the confab’s report must not be forwarded to the National Assembly,as most lawmakers were waiting to kill the report.

6. The Nigerian Labour Congress has called on the Federal government to quickly reverse its decision on the sack of resident doctors. In a statement issued on behalf of the Congress by its President, Abdulwaheed Omar, the Congress is of the view that the health situation in country calls for national emergency that requires more doctors and not to fire the ones the country currently has.

7. Auwal Tukur, the son of former National chairman of PDP, Bamanga Tukur, has declared his interest to run for the forthcoming governorship by-election in Adamawa State under the umbrella of the PDP. Tukur in his declaration said he would bring the desired change into the state if elected.

8. Reacting to the concern raised by Nigerian over the US’s failure to send the Ebola experimental drug, Zmapp to Nigeria, the American Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, on Monday said his country was not yet in a position to make the drugs available to Nigeria yet, because it was not available in sufficient quantity to go round all the countries requesting for it.

Report says three indigenes of Benue state who returned to the state capital, Makurdi on monday have been placed in a separate room at the Benue State Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi for observation over the deadly disease. Report however said, people are now afraid as they are not sure whether they have the deadly virus.

Following a resolution passed by the House in a matter of public interest brought before it by the member representing Udege/Loko, Muhammad Baba Ibaku and seconded by Muhammad Okpede (Doma North), Nasarawa State House of Assembly has urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate the state Chief Judge, Justice Umaru Dikko, for allegedly conniving with the executive in violating the 1999 Constitution as amended.

 Man arrested with explosives near Lagos airport 
There was panic at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport yesterday as a result of the arrest of a man with a device connected to electric wires. The man was arrested at Centrex an office of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and  500 meters from the international wing.
The suspect was searched by private security who found a little gas cylinder connected to electric wires. 
This comes amid intelligence reports of a possible terrorist attack on a United States bound aircraft.

Fashola fears 2015: Reversal of LASU fees  
The Minister of State for Works Prince Adedayo Adeyeye said yesterday that the fear of being defeated by PDP in 2015 general elections was the motivation behind Governor Fashola's decision to reverse Lagos State University LASU fees from N300,000 to N25,000.  
According to Adeyeye who spoke to journalists in his Ekiti home the planned review of the ban on Okada riders in Lagos state is also part of the deceit orchestrated to avert the impending rejection by the people in 2015. 
Fashola who is currently running his second term with his party; the APC  ruling Lagos State since 1999 fears that the PDP might win the 2015 general elections in Lagos.

EBOLA- Woman smashes mans head for hugging her 
A man sustained bloody injuries from a heavy blow to his head for allegedly hugging a woman who was afraid of contracting the Ebola virus disease in Ajah area of Lagos state yesterday. 
Reports indicate that a woman given as Bunmi lost her head and picked up a bottle from a nearby bar and smashed it on the head of her friend given as Ademola Ojikutu after he hugged her from behind without her consent. 
Bunmi's has refused to accept handshakes from anyone for fear of contracting Ebola virus disease said Yemi her sister. Ojikutu was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Liberia issues "shoot on sight " order to Sierra Leonian immigrants 
The Liberian armed forces have been given orders to shoot people trying to illegally cross the border from Sierra Leone to stem the spread of the Ebola epidemic. Soldiers stationed at Bomi and Grand Cape Mount Counties were to shoot at sight said Deputy Chief of Staff Colonel Eric Dennis

 Oyo Bushmeat sellers Association Say their bushmeat has no Ebola
Scores of bushmeat sellers yesterday marched peacefully to Governor Abimbola Ajimobi at the Oyo state Secretariat to complain of the low patronage due to the Ebola outbreak. 
Speaking on behalf of the association, Alhaja Risikat Odeyemi, Iyalode, Bushmeat Association, Oyo, said that a hitherto delicacy is now seen as poison.
