Jonathan appoints ex-INEC chairman IWU others as members on FG committee on Ebola 
President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Maurice Iwu former chairman of independent National Electoral Commission as a member of the committee charged to contain the Ebola disease outbreak. Iwu who is a professor of pharmacognosy had earlier claimed to have discovered a means to treat Ebola using kola it extract. The team is charged to carry out research into the treatment of Ebola virus says Onyebuchi Chukwu the Minister of Health. 


Ebola: Nigerian Female Doctor who treated Sawyer is down with Disease. 
A second case of the Ebola virus disease has been disclosed in Lagos recently as the doctor who treated the Liberian victim Patrick Sawyer has tested positive for the virus. 70 people are under surveillance and 8 have been currently quarantined in a Lagos state provided facility says health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu. 

Presidency denies funding Pro-Jonathan groups 
The presidency has denied funding the groups who are currently engaging in pro-Jonathan rallies and support for his second term. The special adviser to Goodluck Jonathan on Political matters Prof. Rufai Alkali has said that these groups are NGOs with private funding. 



In Kwara State PDP Alleges APC is buying voters cards 
Chief Rex Olawoye publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Kwara state on Monday accused officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of buying temporary voters cards (TVC) ahead of the 2015 elections in the state. He says this illegal practice is ongoing in all 16 local government areas of the state. 


Al Makura appears before probe panel 
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nassarawa state who is facing 16 charges of gross misconduct and abuse of oath of office appeared before the probe panel set up to investigate his activities. Al-Makura vowed to challenge the violation if the impeachment process by the state house of assembly members saying that he was never served with any impeachment notice. 


E-passport: NIS sends 24 officers
The Nigerian immigration service on Monday said that 24 officers were sent to various embassies abroad to ease the process of obtaining visas and e-passports. NIS Public Relations Officer Emeka Obua said that the new 64 page passport costs NGN 20,000 while those individuals under 18 years and above 60 years of age could obtain the passport for NGN 8750.

Amnesty International : Nigeria army committed atrocities
Amnesty international has accused the Nigerian army, the Civil Joint Task Force, state sponsored militia of perpetrating horrific crimes in its fight against Islamist militants from the Boko Haram sect. 
The campaign group said it had seen footage obtained from multiple sources in Borno state including horrific images of detainees throats being slit and the bodies dumped in mass graves. 
The Nigerian military authorities have denied squarely and vowed to look into these allegations


APC Tells PDP '' stop destroying our billboards''
The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara state has officially complained to the state security service in the state about the destruction of its billboards placed in strategic positions in the state. 
The state chairman Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani alleged that this move is coming from the PDP after a failed attempt to impeach the Governor of the state Abdulfatah Ahmed.


World bank gives $200m Ebola assistance 
The world bank on Monday pledged $20 to help Guinea,Liberia and Sierra Leone to fight the deadly Ebola epidemic. This aid is intended for supplies, salaries and materials needed to stabilize health systems in the affected countries. 


-Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has sent in a formal notice to the Nigeria Football Federation accepting to continue as the country’s coach. The letter was submitted to the NFF Secretariat in Abuja on Monday. 

- A Saudi man was beheaded Tuesday for torturing and beating his two-year-old boy to death, the interior ministry said.
Maqbul bin Madi al-Sharari hit his son Mohammed “repeatedly with a cane on the back of his head and the rest of his body,” the ministry said in a statement carried by SPA state news agency.




- Chinese Internet users rose up in anger Tuesday after the televised prostitution and gambling “confession” of a woman who embroiled the China Red Cross in scandal — but condemned the media, rather than her.
Guo Meimei, now 23, triggered a wave of public ire in 2011 when she flaunted her wealth online and claimed she was the general manager of a firm called “Red Cross Commerce”, which web users took to mean she had received embezzled funds.“Guo Meimei Baby”, as she is known online, posted photos of her opulent lifestyle to nearly two million followers on China’s Twitter-like Sina Weibo, posing in front of a Maserati or sipping a drink in business class on a plane.
The China Red Cross denied any ties to Guo, and the actress and singer later insisted that she had made up her job title.


- A traditional medical practitioner, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, was last weekend shot dead by some vigilante operatives for allegedly possessing some substances suspected to be charms and fresh animal parts.


- The Bauchi State Police Command has disclosed that some unknown ritualists attacked and removed the eyes of a nine-year-old boy in Toro Local Government Area of the state.The command’s spokesman, DSP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said around 2.30 pm, unknown assailants, suspected to be ritualists, attacked and removed the eyes of a nine-year-old Haruna Dahiru of Badiko ward in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that the victim was rearing cattle at Babujaye in Gumau village when the ritualists trailed his movement to a solidarity area where they attacked him.

  2. My question is this: this female doctor that has tested positive to this ebola, does it mean she will be quarantined till she???( E heavy for mouth to talk am). But she was detected on time naa? I just feel sorry for her as she was merely discharging her duties and ended up with this ragamuffin disease. God please help her.

Yes about the recharge card ish, if #100 recharge card is too small, send higher cards to Stella to give out, una load card una dey complain, what happens to people that will do anything to have 50 naira credit on their fone to make important calls?     I read on another blog dis morning dat those US doctors dat contracted d disease here in Africa nd were flown home for treatment have regained consciousness!!!!
    D report claims dat d US myt have already found a cure for d virus!! Dunno if its true though.
    So pls use ur contacts nd confirm cos I know how much dis virus bothers u as it does me too. So thanks for being such a caring Nigerian. Love ya

    there is nothing more satisfying than putting a smile on someone's face. although it might conveniencing but trust me, it is worth it. so many wicked and ungrateful people out there...c'est dommage!
