The driving force for me to join the #icebucketchallange phenomena is the #Ebola epidemic in Africa. Raising money and awareness for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a good cause but shouldn't be trending ahead of Ebola virus awareness and cure. 

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. underline the word "progressive", #Ebola is a fast killer virus, #ALS is a progressive slow killer disease. Life expectancy of an ALS patient averages about two to five years from the time of diagnosis, this disease is variable and many people live five years and more. 

Life expectancy of an Ebola patient once the virus takes hold is 10 days as blood fails to clot and hemorrhaging occurs. The incubation period, the time interval from infection with the virus to onset of symptoms is 2-21 days. 

Africans are shrinking by the minute, one life lost is one too many. There is no definitive cure or vaccine for EBV at this moment, every drug is still in experimental stage or phase.
