Chief Of Army Staff Please Save Our Husbands - Blog Vistor Cries Out

The sender of this mail is in Tears and wants something done fast!

''Hello Stella,There was an attack on Saturday in Adamawa state and the casualty is staggering. My God, am in tears right now becos an officer i know so well is confirmed shot and missing. That's becos no reinforcement was sent to rescue injured soldiers.

Am just praying that he's still alive and hasn't bled to death bcos I'll be devastated. Thank God that my neighbour who was missing has been found alive, his wife is pregnant. A lieutenant has been confirmed dead, casualty for soldiers is unknown.

Its by Gods mercy my husband wasn't part of that team bcos he's been deployed there also. Stella please, pealse and please. Who knows if the COAS will do something to save our husbands. I don't want to be a widow Stella.

Please, soldiers are dying like chickens daily and there bodies are not even been retrieved.  OMG crying......

The Nigerian army is simply being callous and hypocritical in this fight against boko haram. Soldiers and officers are being killed in their numbers daily with nothing being done about it.

It is true that the Nigerian army have NO arms and ammunition to prosecute this war. Can you imagine soldiers being burnt live in armoured personnel carriers(APCs)?  These APCs are dead and rusty. They usually contract old retired soldiers who fought in the Nigerian civil wars and Onitsha and Aba boys to help reconstruct parts of this APCs because these parts cant be gotten from manufacturers as they have been phased out years ago.

These soldiers are forced to drive this dead armours and get stuck in the heat of battle. The BH then come and burn them alive inside these tanks. Other times they kill the soldiers and take the tanks. The tanks BH have all belong to the Nigerian army.

Right now soldiers have had it to their necks. We know they swore to pay the ultimate price but that doesn't mean they be treated as chickens. How do you want these men to be motivated when they see their colleagues die and cant Even be buried properly with the honour they deserve. The bodies of soldiers are left to rot in the bush in BH strongholds, and the ones they get their bodies are given mass burials with no honour or respect. These soldiers are seeing this daily and you expect them to fight wit vigour and selflessly?

Since the inception of this war the Nigerian army have been promising to procure ammunition's and up until now there is nada on ground. Its no secret that BH have more sophisticated weapons than the almighty Nigerian army.

Am sending this because of the news that some soldiers refused to engage in offensive without armour and the quick response of the army in the negative. Its appalling that they're quick to respond wit no action.

The army have not bought a single weapon in decades. The few that survived Biafran war were grounded during our big brother role in Liberia. Even the weapons produced by DICON is the worst. Soldiers prefer the old weapons to the supposed 'new' ones. DICON cannot produce a simple functional AK47 weapon.

One then wonders whats been happening to the billions made available since the onset of this war, not to talk of the yearly allocation to the army. The army has been corrupted and its all about amassing wealth by the big boys.

Soldiers who died in the line of duty are still been owed their dues. Families have been left without a breadwinner and some big shot in an AC office in Abuja is still sitting on their entitlement for years.
Soldiers with gunshot wounds are left to treat themselves, with most of them going to seek for treatments traditionally in their villages.

Isn't it surprising that there's no army trauma hospital in the north east or Nigeria as a whole? Even 44 army reference hospital in Kaduna doesn't have a trauma surgeon or a standard trauma unit.

Am not even talking of the fact that soldiers are left to provide basic amenities like toiletries, mosquito nets and the likes for themselves while they are holed up in the bush. No raincoats or covers during this raining season with soldiers having to eat just bread all day as there's nothing else available in these bushes they are.

So Nigerians let's be more sympathetic to these young men out there and turn our anger to those with the fat ranks in Abuja who prefer to see young lives cut short. All they are interested in is profiting from this war.

Let me state categorically that president Jonathan Will never go anywhere near the north east because he and the generals know that the army cannot guarantee his safety. Except of course they want to build a wall round the president with bare-chested men as they don't have functional bulletproof vests.

The Kevlar in what you see them wearing cant withstand a common nail much less bullets. I rest my case here but please tell the chief of army staff that we are still waiting for the ammunition's he went to buy months back. Our fathers, brothers, sons and husbands are dying and they deserve better.Thank you''

*OMG

  26. When I tell Nigerians that your lives mean nothing before their government they think because I'm a doctor I'm arrogant and proud....it's the simple truth Nigerians honour dishonest people in govt because they lack the fear of God and they are greedy and thus they hope to get there someday and do worse.......
Doctors went on industrial action you all felt doctors made an oath...I explore you all to actually read that note and understand what it entails.....industrial action has been suspended... But no protective kits and wears has been provided for health personnels to use not only to protect them but majorly to contain the virus and limit the spread yet millions have been donated for such...envy and ignorance won't allow you all to ask the right questions....my oath instructs me to do no harm to my patient and for me in this present situation means I can choose not to attend to a patient if I feel coming in contact with the patient would endanger a lot of other people....

We keep screaming poor security yet the our armed forces are not equipped to even handle a riot let alone a war against people that reason worse than beasts....
Yet support such governance and their ill advised actions....
Your president is currently out of the country spending all your forcefully collected taxes (most Nigerians don't like paying taxes they love free things)on treatment and I official rest........

Right now I only feel pity for most Nigerians who are so ignorant because the joke is on them....and it will get worse if there is no re orientation on the way things are done...well Nigerians are best at managing the badlands watching the good spoil....

Poster abeg tell your husband to get off the force jare....Nigeria and Nigerians are really not worth dying for.....

I use to be a staunch supporter of goodluck jonathan administration cos i saw him as a young vibrant man who was being oppressed but needed to prove to all they are wrong but from what I v seen so far, am so totally disappointed in him. Nothing is working under this administration, not only the military but the other arms of nig forces are so paralysed n all keep mute cos their is no one to support those that v spoken out. I wonder when this will stop, n I advice that any one posted this life threatning area should resign n leave the area. If u die discharging an unappreciated duty, no one will train ur children or help ur family, they will suffer it all alone. Shine ur eyes cos this nation has no regard for anybody.

These ppl av been complaining abt lack of ammunition for a while now...no one has deemed it fit to say lets protest...lets carry placard until we see pictures n videos of d ammunition being handed to hundreds of soldiers...d average nigerian doesnt care as far as it does nt concern him directly...we fail to realise des ppl r fighting our battles for us...and d reason why we r stl talkn abt BH today is bcos d army is nt armed...

We r just cheating ourselves...bcos d govt doesnt care...
Same thing wt d doctors ...instead of d public to back dem up and help demand der rights...we support d govt...govt dt does nt even use des hosps...d same doctors u r beefin r d ppl u n ur family members run to wen u r sick...and u expect dem to perform wonders...in an ill-equipped hosp....no decent training...no govt investment in healthcare....

We r just selling our birthrights daily...dog eat dog mentality...most doctors r leavn....and d public def suffer...bt dey wl rather join d govt in callin doctors callous...

  37. The Govt. needs to set up an army trust fund to be managed by credible civilians preferably retired officers...something like the police trust fund of years ago. Furthermore the funds must be audited twice a year by a tested multinational audit firm to avoid the type of corruption that cripplied the police trust fund. Then extrabudgetary approval has to be obtained for the funding and fund raising dinners organised so wealthy nigerians can contribute, this is one way to fund the military needs of the army. If funding is routed through the current military heirachy, it will never get to the fighting soldiers...the top hierachy of the military is full of corrupt and lazy fatcats whose main objective is to use the war to enrich themselves, believing that if things get out of hand, they can use their ill gotten wealth to live well anywhere outside the country. Can you imagine BH is about taking over Nigeria? ( God forbid ) What the hell is happening??!! Why are Nigerian leaders not patriotic? 52. Whoever is dissatisfied should resign, you cannot be in the army and refuse to fight or disobey instructions....every organization has its rules and no sentiments....maybe when they begin to see mass resignation then things would change...

  54. we need to start a different ice bucket challenge, and donate the money to a credible group or organization to acquire the needed ammunition for the military.

Stella, can you start a blog on practical suggestions on how to tackle this particular issue ? how do we get these top military officials to account for the money budgeted for the equipments? we can't just sit back and do nothing. Regardless of where one lives around the globe, everybody should be concern about this issue.

  55. 480 Nigerian soldiers escaped to cameroun today. The ministry of defense tried to cover their shame by saying it was tactical. Shameless theives. Corruption has killed the army. They cant face BH with the cheap shakabula guns. Sad. Boko Haram is winning. Its a shame.
