Anambra State Governor

''Stella biko there is a peaceful protest going on now in Anambra.
The governor demolished an Anglican church in 3-3. Reason is that the land belongs to the government, but it was the government that gave the land to the anglican community years ago.

The catholics have fought severally to take over the land cos its in a good site all to no avail. They wanted to use Peter obi but the guy gather sense now Mumu Obiano has fallen to their tactics. The Anglican priest, knights and all Anglican faithfuls are on a peaceful demostration now. They are on there way to Awka. Yesterdy was in onitsha. They are insisting that the governor should apologise and reconstruct the building or he will eat grass like Nebucadenezzar (na me add this one).''

The president general even talked about how the church had been warned about building a church close to the school. And the rev said it was peter obi's govt that gave them the place....make una fear God o, now u turn back and say its willie that destroyed the place? Anam anu! ....at least, I watched this one on t.v

  14. I think we should all think twist before commenting so we don't make provoking statements to either church. This case is too sensitive and if not properly handled may result to something else. We should be expecting a press statement to throw more light on the issue.

  15. Don't bring the catholics into this. It was on channels news yesterday. How on earth can a church building that big be inside a government school premises???
    Who does that?
Agreed, the government should have relocated or allocated another piece of land to the church.
It was the same thing when mountain of fire fought the Commissioner for lands in Enugu over the demolition of their church.
They were busy singing and speaking in tongues while the bulldozer crushed the building and levelled the ground. Futile!

I'm a diehard christian but sometimes, some people mistake Christianity for magic.
Just because you are a church doesn't put you above the law. That is cheap blackmail.

They said they were given the land by the community when indeed the land belongs to government.
Both parties should liase and agree on an amicable settlement instead of whipping up sentiments and attempting cheap blackmail and dragging innocent bodies into the matter.

  36. "How on earth can a church building that big be inside a government school premises???
    Who does that?"

Reading this comment above, I can only say some people think through there anus just to side their church.

Which law in Nigeria said a big church cannot be in the same place with a school? Were people sleeping when the foundation was made and up to roofing stage? Why dont you stop it at initial stage?

You are using Enugu as example. If actually you know Enugu, Tell me of any established Anglican or Catholic church in Enugu without a school in the premises. Mountain of Fire that blocked a river channel in Enugu, that is what you are using to make your incoherent analogy to this case.

Are you aware that former Gov. Obi's administration gave the school in question to the Anglican church when he handed over schools to churches? So what are you talking about?

In Enugu you are talking about, for instance, I dont know how old you are but I know pretty much that New Haven primary school owned by govt was there even before catholics came and built a church there. Now the Enugu govt has handed new haven pri sch to the catholic church and the church has even changed the sch's name to st mulumba's sch. Has anyone raised any hell? Block head!

  38. Why are people being overly sentimental. Let's set aside this Catholic & Anglican story.
Fashola has been demolishing churches and mosques so long its not part of the original plan of the area.
My Anambra people too like Catholic/ Anglican politics sha.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anyway, I am not sure the Gov demolished the church. Accusing fingers are pointing at the President of the town union, One Chief Elue a catholic, who had boasted to he would demolish the church. Were he an Anglican, he would not had been spearheading the attacks on the church. This must be the reason for the Anglican/Catholic wahala there.
