    3+3x3-3+3=?

    Now, multiplication goes first
    3+(3x3)-3+3
    3x3=9

    After that comes addition
    (3+9)-(3+3)
    3+9=12
    3+3=6

    Then subtraction goes
    12-6=6

      BODMAS can never be ignored in mathematics....procedures must take its place. Say no to shortcut.

      B= Bracket
      O= Of
      D= Division
      M= Multiplication
      A= Addiction
      S= Subtraction

      6x3=18...
      18-3+3(6)=12...that's all...

      Delete
    4. SDK bouncer, rightly put, "procedures must take its place". So, for BODMAS, we have no BRACKET, no OF, and no DIVISION. We only have MULTIPLICATION, ADDITION, and SUBTRACTION. Putting brackets and solving this equation doesn't make sense because brackets can start and end anywhere and you arrive at different answers. Solve it as it is.

      Delete
    5. A mathematical problem is solved from left to right. U can't ignore the last addition and come back to it later. Addition takes precedence over subtraction, so have to sum first before minus. 6 na the answer. Swallow a slice of humble pie, admit ur mistake, apologise to those u wrongly called olodo and let's keep it going.

      Delete
    6. Question is 3+3*3-3+3 using bodmas rule; 3*3 =9
      3+9= 12
      -3+3= 0 so d answer is 12

      Delete
    7. Wetin sdk bouncer even dey think sef. No wonder Naija continue to dey record mass failure for waec.
      Bodmas is d bedrock of all mathematiCal calculations and applying it to this question will yield 12.

      3+3x3-3-3+3

      Applying Bodmas means we apply multiplication first,and that gives

      3+9-3+3

      -3+3 is 0

      So, 3+9 yields 12.

      For dos fellas inserting unnecessary brackets thereby complicating d whole tin. In mathematics, caution is always taken when applying bracket after a minus sign. In that case, this puzzle cannot become 3+(3x3)-(3+3) because this will make the plus(+) in the bracket to become minus(-) thereby altering the original equation to look like 3+3x3-3-3 after expansion.

      Delete
    8. Sdk bouncer. There's no bracket in this equation. In maths u don't invent ur own brackets if they are not there. Therefore, the answer is 12. Using d same BODMAS rule, but eliminating d BOD part.

      Delete
    9. Chei una still dey argue. Smh. Lemme do my good deed for the day and teach y'all.
      Bodmas, yes. However there is no bracket in this expression and you do not just go ahead and insert a bracket in maths cos it totally messes with the signs. Therefore, there's no use for B here. Next is of - do the multiplication and your expression becomes 3+9-3+3. Then do your A. You can arrange like signs next to each other for clarity, ie 3+9+3-3 and doing your addition becomes 15-3. Lastly, subtract to get 12. Una for no use lesson money buy guguru o. You see say e nor dey pay

    3+(3*3)-3+3
    3+9-3+3... at this stage, no need to apply brackets because + and - go together like * and /.
    so, 12-3+3=12

  95. I wonder where y'all got the bracket from.no rule in BODMAS says u shld invent ur own bracket. The 3×3 first den add it to d first 3 and the last two set cuts off ofc d ansa is 12.whew*

    ReplyDelete
  96. for those who think the ans is 6 because you did 3+9-(3+3)... i do not want to laugh too hard. okay let me explain to you. every number in mathematics have a sign in front of it, either plus or minus, the only time the sign is not used is when it is the 1st number in a sum and the sign is positive. therefore to properly use the bracket, it is
    3+9+(-3+3)= 12-0= 12
    you do not bracket out minus sign
    rem ++=+
    +-=-
    -+=-
    --=+
    I do not expect everyone to understand this but, if you still need me to break it down, i am sure Mrs Ifezulike, my beloved maths teacher (back in school) would want me to help out, so... I will

    ReplyDelete
  97. Initially, I got 6 as my answer but as Stella said it was wrong, I stated doubting my mathematical prowess. Maybe maths rules recently changed. Rose

    ReplyDelete
  98. It still has to do with bodmas but just the MAS part (left to right) part, because here there's just the multiplication, addition and subtraction, you solve the multiplication first then solve from left to right which is a rule in math, you get 3+9-3+3=12...you don't just put bracket any how you follow the rule
    P.S
    I googled this, even Google calc talk 12. So I guess Stella and every other person that said 12 got it right

  102. Stella you didn't apply BODMAS correctly, you did:
    3+ [3×3]=
    3+9= 12 +3= 15-3=12

    instead of
    3+[3×3]=12
    [3+3]=6
    12-6=6

  107. Many failed this simple questn: Ans is simply 3.
    (3+3)x(3-3)+ 3
    Deal with the bracket first according to bodmas.
    result will then be 0.
    Add 0 + 3= 3.
