She needs to go for a proper diagnosis!I didn't read where she said she has visited the hospital or her house doctor.

  11. I need advice please sdkers, am a first time commenter, but a very active and faithful reader.
My mum is 64years old, while my dad is 75years old. And God blessed them both with good health and nice physic that sometimes people tend to under rate them age wise.
From all i gathered from my mum's story whilst growing up, she said she started seeing her monthly cycle at a very late age of 20years. And according to her the last time she sent me to buy sanitary pad for her if she haven't entered menopause yet, she said no, that when you see yours late, menopause or so comes late.
Lately i observed my mum has been lazying about unlike the agile and workaholic mum i used to know. Hmmmm.. Sometimes, she puts up cardigan even under a hot weather. And each time i ask her if all is well with her, i see some guilt in her eyes giving me a verbal nod response. Seriously, i have not been comfortable with this latest developments, waking up late and all, since 2months or so, she has not sent me to buy pad for her as usual... And anyone in my shoes will suspect what i'm suspecting especially with the kind of romeo and julliet love she and my dad keeps playing.
They have 9 children already before you start advising me, and me a working class lady is the last born u can now imagine what is paining me here. Somebody please tell me this is another sickness other than pregnancy because i plan taking her my mum for a pregnancy text even though she has been proving stubborn about it. I need advice please

    7. I had to come bck to this post, to share my feedback from the advice of annoy to see an OBGYN.
After explaining my issues/symptoms to the gyno, he started by showing me an Age Fertility chart. This chart basically tells you how old your reproductive organ(s) are for a woman especially. He went on to say women are at their most fertile when they are btw the ages of 22 - 24 and at 27 there is a declining rate but not significant. But that at age 35 our egg productions reduces by 50%. And he asked me if I had the intention to start child bearing. And if I wasn't, I shld seriously start considering it. He adviced that I don't take any drugs for now to regularise my P, and shld only take corrective hormonal drugs when I am ready for babies. As taking it now may distort my system.
Another reason to start the hunt for a hubby. FYI a man's sperm is still fertile at age 70!!! What an irony.
Thought to share this because of the person that is going through similar prob. It might ease your mind or increase your anxiety to find a husband. ASAP. LoL

  20. Alright she needs to calm the hell down. I went through menopause at 17, was diagnosed with spinal osteoporosis at 18. It means whatever i do, i must never fall on my back. My soine from a bone standpoint was that of a 60 year old woman.
Its called early menopause or early ovarian failure. Her ovaries have refrused to work. Its like a car whose batteries have refused to work. They need to do a hormone profile on her, do a follicular count and see if she even has any left. They should also scan for the suze of her uterus. If she has some left and she is married, she needs to have her kids asap. They will "jumpstart" the ovaries to work. If she isnt married, she can harvest and store her eggs if miney isnt an option until she meets a man she thinks she wants to settle down with.
I repeat she should not go from doctor to dr to dr. They will only chop her money. Ealry menopause affects 1 in 100,000 women. She is definitely not alone and it is usually unexplainable. That said, she needs to be emotionally strong bcos doctors will tell her all kinds of shit and many will use her as a test case. She needs to excercise regularly, say no to actual menopause drugs, but opt for birth control pills as it will give her a sense of normalcy in terms of her period monthly. She also needs to take calciumand a womens daily vitamin. Eat and lead a healthy lifestyle.
In my own case i have spent over $100k on doctors. Absolute waste of money, the paranoia led to that. Diff doctors will tell you different things. I had a dr tell me to find a purpose for my life outside of my ovaries as i eould never have biological children. I had another one tell me they couldnt findmy left ovary. Another told me my uterus was small for childbirth, another older dr told me not to worry that my ovaries were located with some follicles.
My point is trust God and dont be stupid. I am 32 yrs old. Few pple refused to marry me. One idiot told me to go and bring pregnancy. I got married last month to a man i dated for 10months and he knows the whole truth. He is currently the one paying the bills as we have started trying. The absolute worst is an egg donor. And last is adoption.
God never gives us that which we cannot handle. Stella i worked my ass iff in my 20s as i believed no man would marry me and i wiould simply build a career and adopt kids.

    Miss pynk

  22. She may be suffering from thyroid disease. According to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), millions of women with menopausal-like symptoms, even those taking estrogen, may be suffering from un-diagnosed thyroid disease. While symptoms such as fatigue, depression, mood swings, and sleep disturbances are frequently associated with menopause, they may also be signs of hypothyroidism. A survey done by the AACE showed that only one in four women who have discussed menopause and its symptoms with a doctor were also tested for thyroid disease. The thyroid plays a role in regulating overall body metabolism and influences the heart, brain, kidney, and reproductive system, along with muscle strength and appetite.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hyperthyroid Symptoms
Hyperthyroidism is usually caused by Graves’ Disease or diffuse toxic goiter. However, Graves’ Disease is the most common type of hyperthyroidism. It is a condition when the body has too much thyroid hormone and the cause is unknown. This autoimmune disorder tends to run in families. Graves’ Disease affects more women than men (about an 8.1 ratio) and it occurs more frequently in women in their 30’s and 40’s.
    Symptoms of Graves’ Disease:
    weight loss
    rapid heart rate
    anxiety
    feeling hot
    perspiring a lot
    nervousness
    muscle weakness
    swelling in neck
    eye symptoms.

  39. Stella people suffer most of the
things you listed here. Does it mean they are getting to menopause? I doubt it. Every woman must have had five or more of the listed symptoms above and still have regular menstrual periods and not way near menopause. Early menopause starts from 40yrs and above. The poster should go for proper check up and find out what her problem is.

    2. There are certain treatments that can be attempted. I recall we discussed something like this last month.

She should work closely with her doctor. You have the 2nd and 3rd opinion, now its time to work with one doctor. Remember whatever treatment you get, you need to stick to it and run tests later to see what progress is being made.

Switching doctors may lead to further complications.

Also pray. Your faith will help ur body rejigg itself.

  49. My dear, do not worry yourself much. God will never allow things we cannot handle to come to us. Since the doctors have confirmed that you are no longer ovulating, you can use a surrogate to carry a donor egg for you. You can also adopt. I know of a family that starts menopause at age 30. Many of them marry before attending higher institutions.Surprisingly, some of them start perimenopause in their forties. Stay calm, this world is all about finding things that make you happy. Enjoy your life today, as tomorrow is not guaranteed. Please, do not let this issue spoil the good life God has given to you. You are blessed. Rose

  51. Life happens! Not everybody's life will go the same way. This is not the worse thing that can happen to a human body. Go to hospitals and hospices and you will see levels of degradation of the human body.

If she is desperate to be a mother let her adopt. The only problem she will face is the loss of estrogen at such a young age, so let her take estrogenic foods like soy and fenugreek and other estrogenic foods. Estrogenic foods should not be consumed by women who have NOT already gone through menopause.

  55. Stella, am 28yrs now I started noticing that I menstruate twice a year when I was 21, then I was living with my uncle so he thought I was lying he took me to his doctor. I did series of test then I was told I ve low thyroid, @ 23 it became once by 25 it stopped finally,my Ex boyfriend told categorically that he was quitting bcos am going to be barren, although he apologised and ve since forgiven bcos he is not d cause of my misfortune, I ve cried and stopped crying because my recent test say am in my menopause @28 and giving birth is no option. And since I know that is my status I have lived life to d fullest and not letting my status weigh me down. Am gainfully employed and am Rich so. I take good care of my self. See my doctors regularly and I don't give any relationship a trial bcos I don't want to live in the fear of any mother in_law. My only fear is how to confront my mum wit the news that I wish to remain single, she is aware of the status but I told her a long time ago that it's now regular bcos I don't want her to keep asking how far every month.. let the poster believe in God pray hard and live a fulfilled life. Menopause is not her fault

It's hurt to know U might never have a biological child to call u MUMMY, it hurt to rejoice when ur folks give birth and cry in a corner cos u know u might never xperience the joy of motherhood, it hurts to visit the gynaecologist often while you it not for antenatal, it hurts so bad to visit ur mum and u find sanitary pads in her while you ve not bought one in a long time. Am typing this in tears. Dear poster past seven years ve not been easy for me but ve learnt to move on with life. Am so glad to share @least I feel better. My mum stil menstruate @50 n here I am @ 28 I don't I can't remember d last time I saw a stain my pant..

  57. Ms Punk, thank you for your contribution. One can indeed have POF at any age and it is pathological meaning caused by an underlying disease as against menopause which is a normal part of the aging process (where things decline- eyes, hearing, organs etc). Now the frustrating thing is that sometimes the cause may not be found and occasionally when it is, it may not be remarkable)
For Poster, pls get as many different credible opinions from Gynaes as you can afford and if the thread is similar, you need not waste more money.
Sometimes the way to look at things is to find how to live with some conditions with as little disruption to your day to day life as possible. For instance, in order to prevent thing like osteoporosis (like punk said), you may want to discuss hormone replacement therapy or Bisphosphonate therapy with your Dr, if you want to continue having periods (because this is a very emotive topic for women), there are meds you can also take although be aware that such periods will be ambulatory (meaning you will notched eggs and can't get pregnant). GAMETE PRESERVATION and surrogacy are also options depending on where you live. Bottom line is that your life is just starting and there's no reason why you can't live a full life even with POF.
As for the BV whose 64 yo mum is having what she suspects may be pregnancy symptoms, it would be very unlikely that a 64 yo lady is pregnant and should she be, the risk of Down 's syndrome and other such anomalies would make carrying such. Pregnancy to term quite stupid in someone who has 9 children already (apologies). An endocrine (hormonal problem) is a more likely culprit. Get her to do a horm profile ( TFTs, LH FSH,Oestradiol levels,Vit D levels) before you start planning what musician to invite for the naming,

I hoped someone finds this helpful

  58. Oh just a quick addition, any woman in her 60sand above who has had cessation of Menses and begins to bleed again subsequently must be looked at as having post menopausal bleeding which is Sinister and needs investigating (Uterine or cervical lesions likely). Be wise to your health women. Believe in God (cos I do) but don't be foolish.God gave us all the knowledge we have now for a reason.DO NOT stay in one corner praying foolish prayer or believing God when the "Power to do" lies with you. Any faith preacher who tells you that is ignorant, they all take advantage of modern medicine too but they tell their flock to just believe.
I will do a NOTE to Stella soon on how to know if you're safe with your Dr or if your Dr is healthy for you. Stay healthy folks and if you're not,do something about it!

  60. Its not the end of the world & I believe that God will never give you a cross that will be too big for you to carry. I suggest that you visit the best gyn in town & stick to one doctor before they open business on your matter.
Be strong & don't let peoples comment depress you (what do they know & they may be carrying heavier crosses than yours
...on a side note, the wahala in this country is enough to make one have @ least half of these symptoms sef rme
