                       CIGARETTE COMPANY TOLD TO PAY WIFE OF CANCER VICTIM $23.6bn

A US court has ordered the country's second largest cigarette company to pay $23.6 billion (£13.8bn) to the wife of a smoker who died of lung cancer.

RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company was hit with the punitive fine in addition to $16.8m (£9.8m) in compensatory damages.

Cynthia Robinson took action against the firm in 2008, seeking compensation for her husband's death in 1996.An official at the company said the court's verdict was "far beyond the realm of reasonableness and fairness".

During the four-week trial, lawyers for Ms Robinson argued that RJ Reynolds was negligent in informing consumers of the dangers of consuming tobacco.

This negligence, the lawyers said, led to her husband Michael Johnson Sr contracting lung cancer from smoking after becoming "addicted" and failing multiple attempts to quit.

                                          Kefee TO GET POST HUMOUS AWARD  



























                                       The Director General of the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Sally Mbanefo, will soon declare open, the 2014 edition of Crystal Awards, which holds at the Muson Centre, Lagos.











According to Pastor Timi Adegoke, the arrow head of the awards, the event will include a post humus recognition for late gospel singer, Kefee.




He says that ‘’ Kefee had a unique voice and she distinguished herself among her peers. She credibly used her voice to praise God all through her short life before she bade the world farewell in June’’.....Thank you to the organisers. RIP Kefee.

Former Minister Of Petroleum, Rilwanu Lukman Dies In Austria



Former Minister of Petroleum, Rilwanu Lukman died this morning 

July 21,2014 in Austria. He was 75.   Lukman was a renowned engineer who held several ministerial positions in Nigeria before becoming Secretary General of OPEC from 1995 to 2000.He was appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources by late President Yar’Adua in December 2008 and held the position until March 2010.RIP to him.
