Anambra State Government Has Drones?

The governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano is not dulling o. The state is deploying drones and a handful of other hi-tech surveillance equipment to fight crime in the state I am told.
The pictures above show the governor during the final test-running of the drones at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia last weekend.

If a state can invest in such surveillance equipments, why can't the federal government of Nigeria do the same in Sambisa forest to #bringbackourgirls?

Anambra people seem to be really behind their governor. I heard that Ndi Anambra living in Abuja last week raised about N100m to support their governor's security initiative.

According to the governor, the use of the drones have started yielding results. “Modern crime-fighting requires a lot of creativity. Criminals are extremely inventive and we have to be a step ahead of them to outsmart them. We are relying heavily on technology to give us their coordinates and the general direction of their plans,” he further explained, recalling that the recent rescue of a kidnap victim who was tracked all the way to Orlu in Imo State was a clear demonstration of the efficacy of technology in crime fighting.

“As soon as we got wind of the kidnap we moved in and activated the devices. We monitored their movement to their hideout in Orlu, Imo State and waited until all the suspects were fully in before we picked them up.”, Obiano said.

    5. Lol most of us in Lagos own drones and we're just film makers. This are not security drones. The max flight time is about 20minutes. Depending on the FPV and transmitter power installed on it, it should travel about 2 miles. The proper security drones are armed drones, and u can control the cameras e.g Zoom in and out remotely. This is Naija tho

  5. but this isn't a drone na... this is a quadrocopter, a toy that people use to have fun in more developed parts of the world. This can be easily shot down, won't go high up in the sky and has a radius of not more that ten kilometres. We aren't fools!

    1. Quads are not only used for fun. They are used for surveillance too...and the range it can travel depends on the size of the drone (battery life and tinz)
Tho this is a small drone, im guessing they would employ more

Dumb shitttttt! Stupid governor and his supporters. We don't have no good roads, no electricity, no clean water, no good healthcare, fuck up university, graduates roaming around with 80% of them jobless.
Stupid leaders, motherfuckers corrupt Supreme Court Justices, dumb ass President and his child molesters Senators and pastors, (attention Catholic Bishops).
Honestly. In Patt Ogar's voice I curse all the leaders that have ruled that country since the independence.
In Deekays' sweet liberal voices I sing I fly away oh glory, I fly away, when I die hallelujah bye bye, I fly away.
No hopes, no values, no dreams. We're hopeless! "Pillar of Africa my ass".

Bet the gov and his big boy friends are just having fun. Or is the display attached to the device up in the sky?? Not a drone. praise your Gov for other achievements not for this PLEASE!

  43. @AtariAjanaku... Quadcopter is a generic name for these types of drones that are lifted and propelled by four rotors.
The Dragonfly you mentioned is just the name of a brand of quadcopter drones. The one used by the anambra state govt is not a Dragonfly, compare the two pictures.

Rotormotion brands of drones are like miniature helicopters in design.

  44. A job well done my Excellency!

Another thing is to always keep check on the people you have employed to manage the drones and above all be very careful as we have sabotuers (informants to those kidnappers.

    wishing anambra state good luck!

  45. These are multirotors small UAVs designed for short time flights (6-25 mins) mainly designed for film and aerial photography. They now available here in Nigeria and their prices are listed too - http://drones.ng/spreading-wings-s800-evo/
