Abuja Hotels To Submit Daily List Of Guests To SSS And Police

MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, on Monday, directed all hotels in Abuja to, henceforth, forward the list of their guests to the FCT Directorate of State Security Services (SSS) and the FCT police command on a daily basis.

The hotels were equally required to install security cameras within their vicinity and ensure thorough check of all vehicles entering their premises and within their surroundings.

The minister, according to his special assistant on media, Nosike Ogbuenyi, also directed all residents and associations in various parts of the territory to embark on “operation know your neighbour” campaign, to ensure all criminally-minded elements were detected easily within the FCT.

The security department of FCT Administration, according to the minister, is to liaise with the various security agencies in the FCT on the modalities for implementing the directive.
According to Ogbuenyi, the minister directed all traditional rulers in Abuja to, as a matter of necessity, start conducting periodic meetings with various communities within their domains, to take stock of strange faces living around them, as well as report all new comers within 48 hours to the local divisional police station and SSS office.

Also, according to the minister, all trailers and lorry operators bringing goods to the city would no longer be allowed to offload their contents at night.
“All offloading shall henceforth be done in the day time, under supervision in designated places.
“The directive requires owners of uncompleted and abandoned buildings and structures without security guards to provide same. Failure to do so, the FCT Administration would apply appropriate sanctions.

“Similarly, owners of plots of land left fallow for a long period of time and not used for any purpose but taken over by criminals would now face appropriate sanctions,” he said....TRIBUNE REPORT.

*Good initiative, but will not work, not in Nigeria, otherwise na bad market....wives can as well start paying to view CCTV footage of hotels they suspect their men lodged in.

  1. This measure should not have been
announced. Why not carry out the
directive without letting the world know about it. Sensitive issues of this kind should only be made known to those concerned. And it should not be only in Abuja. Has to be applied in all Hotels within the
    country.

    1. So if it isn't announced how will people know about it? Not like I agree with the plan in totality but you have we have to know about these things. I know everyone in my estate but not so well that I know how they earn an income

  7. SOUTH EASTERN,THATS A GOOD IDEA,BESIDES HOTELIERS ARE NT KEEN IN ASKING CLIENTS FOR IDENTITY. EVEN IF ITS DRIVING LICENSE....AGAIN,BOMBS CAN BE MANUFACTURED IN HOTEL ROOMS; IS JUST A MATTER OF GATHERING THE COMPONENTS TOGETHER. SOMETIMES,THE BRAIN BEHIND THE MANUFACTURING TAKES A DIFFERENT ROOM FROM THEIR ERRAND BOYS. THERE SHOULD BE PASSAGE CCTV CAMERAS TO CHECKMATE INTERACTION BTWN GUESTS WHO DID NOT COME TOGETHER CUM GUESTS TRUANCY & VISITORS.

  10. This is very good. As southeastern said, I Also don't think they should have released all their plans to the public. Especially the hotel one, and that of community checkmating. However, I pray the plan works.

  12. Most top hotels abroad request for international passports of their guests before checking them in. Some also insist that payments must be made using cards as cash payment can not be traced. Maybe we should also explore this option.

  13. Nigerians can never be satisfied. If nothing is done, they'll still complain. Kudos to this initiative. Every security measure starts from your neighborhood... Know thy neighbor.
