Thieves In Kenya Too Busy Watching World Cup...Crime Rate Drops.

A town in western Kenya has reported a sharp drop in serious crime, with police concluding that criminals were too busy watching the World Cup to go out and steal.LMAO

“At least now the youth have something to keep them occupied so they are not involved in criminal activities,” local police commander in Kisumu, David Ng’etich, was quoted as saying by The Star newspaper.

“We hope that the peace will continue even after the  World Cup,” he added. Kisumu police boss Musa Kongoli also told the paper that since the tournament began, he had not handled any “very serious” cases, “apart from the incident where a police officer shot dead a football fan” at a video store following a row.

The town of Kisumu has been wracked by high levels of violent crime in the past, and earlier this year local officials appealed for more street lights and CCTV cameras to be installed to deter criminals.

“Police patrols are going on and we do not intend to stop simply because crime has gone down in the area,” Kongoli was quoted as saying

  2. This has really been my most exciting world cup ever, some of the big names in football are already chilling at home while England are already set to fly back home;this world cup has proved all football pundits very wrong in their analysis, but its still fun all the way.

  4. This is really funny. Hope it will still apply to my dear country. But its even when this kind of tournament is on that the crafty ones decide to sneak in and rob people. Waiting for when people would open their doors to put on or put off their generators and follow them into their houses. Esp all these ones that share flats and their gates are not too well locked (side gates are always open).

  9. Their Government should use this opportunity to think of ways to engage the youths like an Industry or something where the major workforce will be the youths.
