About 70 per cent of the most expensive buildings in London are owned by Nigerians, the Chairman, New Nation, an empowerment-oriented group, Mr. Charles Dukwe, has said.
He added that citizens of the United Kingdom avoided buying houses in the area due to their expensive prices.
Dukwe lamented that some Nigerians were investing funds from the country in Europe and other Western countries, leaving the people at home jobless.
He observed that Nigeria was going through a lot of challenges as a result of corruption that had brought rot to the system. He, therefore, called on Nigerians to embrace compassion and show love to each other.
Dukwe said, “There is a street in London; it is called Edgerton Crescent. Edgerton Crescent is the most expensive street in the world. Houses there are worth £3m to £4m.
“British celebrities that have money don’t buy houses on that street. They will tell you it is too expensive. But 70 per cent of the houses there are owned by Nigerians.
“The thing that is missing in Nigeria is compassion. We want to use compassion as a value and drive it through people so that people can help each other in the society. Our aim is to make compassion a core value in the society.”
He noted that the ‘Kill the Killers Initiative’ was established to attack the major diseases that cut short the lives of people in Nigeria and across Africa.
According to him, diabetes and high blood pressure form over 60 per cent of the cause of deaths among adults in Nigeria, just as malaria forms 70 per cent of the deaths among children in the country.
“In Nigeria and across Africa, we have failed immeasurably by paying little or no attention to principal diseases that cut the lives of our people short and thus leaving our life expectancy to numbers way below all the advanced nations,” ..punch
*I wonder who these Nigerians are!
BLOG ANALYSER: God please I want to own a house there some day in the future. As long as I am concerned it is not a bad idea to own a house there. As long as ur source of wealth is clean.
ReplyDeleteI would love to own a house there too.
DeleteIt's not true! Nigerians love to over hype themselves. Arabs rule in the UK when it comes to buying home and in the US Chinese nationals rule.
DeleteI pray that your dream come's true.
DeleteHowever, the most expensive street in London Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8. Average home there costs £19.2m. I don't think Egerton Crescent, abi Road, is even in the top 10 most expensive London streets.
Well sha. With all modesty. Those of us who had folks that schooled in England when it was visa free entry in the 60s n 70s, have the privilege of owning homes there till date. if ur parents schooled abroad it is likely that they'll own a property in the UK especially, where it was convenient at the time. Those I cannot speak for today are the politicians who would rather than have a home for convenience when abroad, buy houses in every corner because they have no better use for the money because it is too much. But then lavish it on frivolous things. If u have one house abroad, that should be enough. Cos most of the time you'll be back home in Nigeria. When u start to buy 3 or more houses that the Oyinbos themselves cannot afford to buy, then it has become madness. My opinion sha

Yes na, our present and past leaders, some ordinary people dat helped loot our money, they are d owners of those buildings, Nigerians are d cause of their predicament but everybody is busy blaming Gej as if he was d one dat started corruption in dis country, and tomorrow d kids of dis politicians will be yarning dust about our leaders, forgetting d ones their parents did, example Abacha's children, Orji uz kalu's children, ikedi Oh a kim ' s children and others. Dis spoilt kids be talking rubbish about leaders as if their dads did not contribute 2 wat Nigeria is going through today.

Pfffffft nothing new about the news,it has always been an established fact. EVE E UME
ReplyDeleteNot surprised. But as far as I am concerned a rich man is one who can empower others not dish out crumbs. This is why I respect Dangote and Adenuga who has given jobs to thousands. I will say it anyday any time people like Diende Fernandez who does not have a pure water making factory in Nigeria is amongst the poorest Nigerians I know.

Where is EFCC? Let them travel to London to investigate who owns what and source of fund, am sure London MET will assist them. What EFCC know best is how to arrest small fish while the big men who steal from us work freely. British and western world indirectly support the corruption going on in Nigeria/Africa because their economy depend on corrupt countries like Nigeria it's leaders steal and siphon to UK and America. Just imagine UK economy without Nigerians,Chinese and Russian visitors their economy will collapse. By the way anonymous 11.41am GEJ is included in those names you mentioned he is corrupt like others. Anyone who rule over us automatically becomes the richest Nigerian starting from the time of IBB and it has never changed. GEJ is the richest Nigerian at the moment he is no longer shoeless.
ReplyDeleteWhy won't they?? All the money been stolen where do you think they take them to? SHAME ON NIGERIAN POLITICIANS!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11.41 send your contact information to stella.

ReplyDeleteYes Linda this blog will kill you one of these days and that will be your cup of tea.......stupid fools like you endangering the life of others.......how dare u say Nigerians in London are stingy? So they should be throwing their hard earned money to hungry demanding relatives or friends like you who believe that anybody abroad will just be dashing and buying them stuff like they pick money from the streets......we make our money legit and it's not free contract money they make and spend in naija anyhow....get your head outa your arse and think civilized.....oops I forgot, you are a half baked illiterate so u can't grasp that...
