Emir Of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi To Be Arrested By The Police On Allegations Of Fraud?

Sahara Repoters reports that the Nigerian police have been ordered to arrest the newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on fraud-related charges stemming from his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to reliable sources at the Presidency in Abuja, the team of policemen at the Emir’s palace in Kano received the order from the Nigeria police headquarters to place Mr. Sanusi under arrest if he leaves the Kano Governor’s lodge.

The sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Sanusi was to be arrested at his private home on Sunday night after his appointment was announced by the Kano State Governor.  It would be recalled that the presidency embarked on several frantic measures to frustrate the former CBN governor’s emergence as Emir, including the premature congratulations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to one of the candidates before the choice was announced.

Since becoming Emir, Mr. Sanusi has been inside the Kano State governor’s lodge, receiving visitors and undertaking traditional rites.
The source also told SaharaReporters that some notable northern leaders have already warned President Jonathan to avoid such a reckless action so as to avoid setting fire to the already volatile situation in the city of Kano.  It is not known if President Jonathan is favoring back channel dialogue aimed at resolving the mess.  Observers point out that he has yet to offer congratulations to the new Emir despite the PDP doing so.

Since ousting Mr. Sanusi from the CBN last February, the President has not relented in seeking to inflict serious damage on him for revealing that the President and his cronies stole at least $20 billion from crude oil sales over a two year period.

*I thought the Emir had immunity?

Ain't nothing like immunity in this case. Dude has pending issues with the government and we can't just bury them now cos he's Emir.
Im not FOR or AGAINST but i just believe in the law taking its course.

SLS should be tried but at the same time, the president should do things by the book and not cross the line.

PS: SLS has a history of very deep involvement in terrorist activities and I have my reservations sbout him.

  8. Nobody should be above the law, if he is guilty then he should be arrested and prosecuted, although he is not guilty until he is proven guilty by a competent court of law, but so long as its still an allegations, there is nothing wrong in arresting him for question, possibly detaining him, Nigeria's greatest problem over the years, hasn't been corruption alone, but the fact that some persons have immunity and are greater than the law, so even those that are corrupt become so big to be prosecuted, they tend to escape the long arm of the law

    18 NASSARAWA 56,910,618,770.46 35th

A total of over N1,480,000,000,000.00 was the Federal allocation to the North in 2013. What impact did this amount have on the people of the north?

Look at state applications to JAMB for university entrance ( APPLICATIONS not ADMISSIONS):

    TOP 5
    1. Imo --101,350
    2. Anambra--72,800
    3. Delta --71,198
    4. Edo--60,839
    5. Ogun --52,674

    BOTTOM 5
    32. Taraba--5,599
    33. Sokoto--4,928
    34. Jigawa--3,990
    35. Zamfara--3,827
    36. Yobe--2,938

So with this numbers, how can the north ever catchup even they they own most of the oil wells, and they claim to be more populated. I want to see the north building schools by community effort the way it is done in the south.
"We have for a long time lived in illusion of the South was against us. I have continued to feel without any justification about this. Our political elders have deceived us into believing that absolute nonsense.
It is time we take over our destiny in our hands. One trillion Naira is such a huge sum of money.
'My visit to Jigawa have shown that good leaders can be change agents. We wallow in the disbelief that we will be killed if we challenge them. See what is happening in Gombe in 3 years. Kano has experienced some changes in the last 3 years.

I grew up to meet an Igbo man who was a small trader in our hamlet. He built a house where his family lives, yet we were richer than him, but he lives in a better house to the envy of all of us. I met his children in university, even though I had a scholarship. Why can't we emulate him instead of cast aspersion on his person & tribe as too noisy. This family have since left for the east. Is this how to grow a people? Our elders are cheating us.

Before you comment, ask yourself, where is this billions in my state or local government?" Aliyu Usman

Its time for a revolution. God heal Nigeria

This is the same Sanusi who led islamic fanatics like himself to murder Godwin Akaluka . He was locked up in a prison in Sokoto for his part in his crime then by Abacha if I'm not mistaken and was only pardoned due to the intervention of Mutallab. Sanusi is also an alleged Boko haram sponsor. He had no business even being the CBN gov and it is a complete taboo for him to be Emir.

He is a criminal, a murderer and if it can be proven that he is a boko haram sponsor, then he has also committed one of the biggest war crimes against humanity and should be heavily persecuted.

All those who think this is witch hunting by Mr President, are you now saying because Sanusi is now the Emir, he is above the law? Presidents and ex-presidents get tried and thrown in jail for even less crimes.

Godwin Akaluka's blood and headless body is now haunting his killers! Sanusi, go and face the full wrath of the law!

If he is guilty of any crime when he was the former cbn boss;then he needs to face the law.but if GEJ and cohorts are using this opportunity to disgrace him publicly cos he is now an Emir, then I'm very much disappointed in GEJ's government and his tenure as the presido..for God's sake;why didn't they issue an arrest to sanusi when he wasn't an Emir(precisely when they removed him from office and seized his passport etc),I'm not siding any of them but all I can say is that all I see is an angry man trying to get back at his enemy who he couldn't work out things with..I'm not from the north but last time I checked;an Emir is a well respected person soo why do they wanna disgrace sanusi publicly and it has to be now..Nigeria's political drama won't just cease to amuse me!!

Again why is it now that sanusi is d Emir that he ordered his arrest! Jona only want to disgrace Sanusi and I don't think this will help the innocent citizens, as we are always the ones to pay for their sins.how many of the leaders have been involed in any bomb attack? Let us examine the issues logically. When did the issue of financial recklessness start. Was it before Sanusi blew the whistle or after. How about other people indicted in Jonathan's administration. The Oduah's and the Diezani's of this world? The President kept shielding them. The situation whereby the President will be witch hunting people that oppose him is unacceptable. If its not Amaechi today, it will be be 7 governors tomorrow or SLS day after. When you are busy scheming how to get back at people criticizing you, what time do you have for productive issues. This is the reason Nigeria is this way where we have leaders that cannot take criticisms. Where you are using your position to oppress others just because they told you the truth, always remember that there is a sovereign God who installs and dethrone kings. A word is enough for the wise.
