Police IG Has Not Proceeded On Terminal Leave

The Police High Command has denied reports that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar had been asked to proceed on pre-retirement leave.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba,issued in Abuja on Thursday said Abubakar was "fully on his desk''.

"The Police High Command had not received any official communication from appropriate government quarters informing the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar of retirement from the force,'' the statement has said.

Mba said Mohammed has continued "to perform his duty as the 16th indigenous IGP".culled

*his going on leave and his staying there ,there is no difference,he is a ceremonial IG.....my two cents,if you disagree, please tell me why.

  2. He is a ceremonial IG. He started off well (eye service) but like they say, you can't pretend for too long. He relaxed in his duties and soooo many things have actually gone wrong under his watch. And the sad thing is that nothing is being done to make them right. He has lost focus. Whether he goes for his leave or not, he is no longer relevant. The worst crimes committed in this country now are by his people. Beating and shooting people anyhow like tmrw no dey. Even looking at his eyes, e don tire for the job sef. Abeg he should proceed on the leave make e go attend to madam.

  3. Well I will not go for Frank Mba's head cos he too is just reading from a script. Just like Reuben Abati in his own unit. But please at times these scripts can be edited to suit the occasion. Hence he would have removed the part where he said 'he has continued to perform his duties...'. Maybe na to answer present in the office be the duty.

  4. He is as good as gone, his staying doesn't make any difference to me. Same 'ol shit, just a different day.

  5. I am of the opinion that he should be relieved of his duty, the fact that he is still in his post is appalling, because he has not instilled discipline in the force, and I feel he is incompetent

  6. Stella, he's not a ceremonial IG oh! If you know the atrocities this man has committed it's even whispered around that he's a strong force in Boko Haram, hence the reason the presidency is retiring him. His leave starts June 1st and being the horrible person that he is signals have been flying about all week transferring people to horrible and volatile locations

  7. For the fact that it has been mentioned, that means its true that he had been relieved of his duties. Thats wat happened furing sanusi lamido sack..they where fast to say that its false meanwhile it was true. This police man has failed. Alot of mis conducts happened under his watch. The Nigeria police is a mess..trigger happy hooligans.

  11. It's so easy to be an arm-chair critic...When Ringim was relieved of his job,it was said he was a strong member of BH! Stella,I could abuse you for being ignorant but hey,no time! What is your reason? We can as well sack the president and his team! This IG has done well, the Security of a Nation is a collective thing. The ruin we are eating from was cooked by years of bad leadership and indiscipline ,so pls stop this blame game and preach for everyone to encourage cooperation in dealing with our issues.Am sure, those of us who are self employed, when our employees are asked abt us,they will probably spit warms about us.Let's learn to encourage and not condemn.
