The US military fired or disciplined 500 workers for sexual harassment last year, a report says.
After months of criticism from Congress, the Pentagon released its first report on sexual harassment and related crimes, The Associated Press reported Thursday.
New data shows that nearly 13 percent of the complaints filed involved repeat offenders in the 12-month period.
The Pentagon report said that the military services are aware of the large number of repeat offenders and "are taking appropriate action."
There were 5,061 reports of sexual abuse in the 2013 fiscal year which ended September 30, compared to 3,374 in 2012, the AP reported on May 1.
A 2012 anonymous survey showed that about 26,000 American service members said they were the victim of some type of unwanted sexual contact or assault.
Early this year, President Barack Obama called on the American people to help put an end to the growing number of sexual assaults in the military. “We’ve got to teach young people – men and women – to be brave enough to stand up and help put an end to these crimes,” the US president said.
*This type needs to be served in Nigeria.....it is so sad that some people commit crimes but are above the law.
It can only happen in God's own country
