The strike was ruled out for an apparent foul but replays showed the keeper appearing to throw the ball into the net, just 24 hours after match-fixing fears
Nigerian goalkeeper Austin Ejide scored a freak own goal against Scotland on Wednesday night - just 24 hours after their friendly was in doubt over match-fixing fears.
The Scottish FA has been warned that the clash at Craven Cottage could be targeted after an alert by the National Crime Agency, although it went ahead regardless.
And after Charlie Mulgrew's sensational opener, the Nigerian stopper came out to collect a cross and seemed able to grab the ball easily.
However after a collision with Grant Hanley, Ejide lost control and appeared to throw the ball into his net.
Fortunately referee Lee Probert bailed him out and awarded a free-kick to the Super Eagles who pulled back to 2-2 following a last minute leveller from substitute Uche Nwofor.
Footage of the 'own goal' soon made its way onto Twitter with many suggesting the previous allegations may have had some substance.culled

Why is nigerian coach Stephen Keshi sill protecting his players saying they are professionals and no oles?
ReplyDeleteI watched that game from start to finish and can't fault anything.
ReplyDelete2 own goals in 1 match dont seem "Innocent". The force of the ball into the goal is greater than the collision.
ReplyDeleteMe and football are two opposite lines that can never cross path.

Ejide is a bad goal keeper. His body language at that stadium speaks volume,am not surprise if he will be involved in any match fixing. He was very unprofessional, I hope Keshi don't consider him as 2rd goalkeeper. The game changed after victor,Osaze came in,Uzuenyi (15 jersey) is a future star to watch out for,he was brilliant. With those players, we are not going anywhere at the World Cup, am sure supporting Deutschland, don't need Naija predicted games and players.
ReplyDeleteAnd what if Naija goes far in d world cup @Jay Moore, I hate people who talk shit like u, who woulda believed that Arsenal would take FA cup, abeg I hate it when u write things off, let's watch n see. I have taken note of ur name, let's see how it goes, we will meet on ds blog during d tournament.
ReplyDeleteDickhead he made an opinion best known to him why don't u take it or leave it. If he talk shit u talk mess moron. Get some stella's dick chair and take a back seat with palmwine. Most of u can't criticise without abuse.
DeleteI don't know what to believe.
