The police on Wednesday arraigned an applicant, Kunle Opadeyi, at an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Karu, for allegedly stealing N1m at a wedding reception.

The accused person was arraigned on two counts of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The News Agency of Nigeria  reports that the prosecutor, ASP Adams Peter, told the court that the accused had sneaked into the wedding dinner at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, pretending to be a guest.

Peter alleged that while the event was going on, the accused stole the sum from the money donated by invited guests to the couple.

He said during investigation, the accused confessed to stealing only N200,000.
He added that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97(2) and 287 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, he faces two years in prison or with fine or both.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, but told the court that he stole only N200,000....LMAO

Chief Magistrate Hadiza Shagari admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Shagari adjourned the case until June 11, for further hearing...punch

Yes, some people go to functions solely to steal phones, iPads, money cuz people tend to get distracted at parties.

  10. My husband packed everything we got as wedding presents into a big bus and it was sent off as donation to a motherless babies home. The only thing I collected was the gift from my mum. I'm still so pained. He didn't even allow me open them because of winchy winchy things. But now I appreciate it better. It's good to avoid stories that touch.
That been said couples should be careful about gifts they receive on their wedding day not everyone that laughs and smiles with you is a friend.
Problems in some families have been traced back to such gifts.
I remember when I was an undergraduate. A room mate put us in charge of food and drinks for her wedding reception because her relatives were fighting over who will do what. We stepped in and did worse. After hoarding the wines which we gave only to those on high table and assorted drinks. When village people came to ask for food we told them there was no meat and gave only rice. Wedding cake nko? Ramatu you need to forgive us. It was youthful exuberance. To think the bride came to thank us. She was just smiling that day seeing everybody eating and was happy her room mates were doing her proud not knowing the evil we were up to.
When we got back to school it was enjoyment galore every one wanted to visit my room then because you would be entertained with a bottle of wine.

    2. You definitely will have trust issues. Forget about being your undergraduate days as you couldn't have been less than 20 years then. Guys could be pardoned for this because of lifestyle but a lady! Sweet mother you must have been a bad girl in school.

  15. That's why its good to have bouncers at the gate to bounce off thieves... I love the kinda weddings people do now.. You give out the gate pass to only those you want them to attend.

Went for a wedding with hubby, you needed to see the amount of people who didn't have gate pass trying to force themselves in. The bouncers were very strict.. On getting inside the hall, the people inside weren't as much as those outside.. Lots of fine fine gals outside trying to enter but they didn't succeed.. Ofcourse they wanted to enter by force by fire as the the bride was a daughter of a top business man so girls weren't smiling...

  24. My dad must have sprayed me close to £3000 at my wedding. Plus all the 1k notes from parents friends. When we sat down to count the money after we dropped from the moon, I saw only £40, less than N10000 1k notes and plenty change.

  26. Lol.......this happened at my cousin's wedding few years ago. We watched the video and saw this nicely dressed dude in white guinea making away with the money. No one recognised him so the following week her husband's brother's and friends went back to the same wedding venue where another wedding was being hosted. They kept vigil around the area where the couple were dancing and what do you know....same dude shows up nicely dressed again dancing and famzing. They grabbed him by the arm, took him outside and beat him to a pulp before taking him to the police with the wedding video as evidence.
