Worried by the wave of ugly incidents which has rocked our nation in recent times, most notable, the abduction of 234 girls from their school in Chibok, Borno State, Her Excellency (Mrs) Omolewa Ahmed, wife of the Executive Governor of Kwara State is calling for a Special Day of Fasting and Prayer for the nation.
The special prayers will hold Saturday, 17 May, 2014 at the Office of the wife of the Governor inside the Kwara State Government House.
Mothers across the State are implored to observe a fast on Saturday for the nation.
Muslim mothers will gather at 10am to call for divine intervention for the release of the abducted girls and for peace to reign in our country.
Their Christian counterparts will converge at the same venue, 4pm, same day to call on God with one voice to ensure the safe liberation of the abducted girls.
Whilst recognising the outpouring of solidarity by several women and groups through peaceful demonstrations, Her Excellency Mrs Ahmed calls on all Nigerians irrespective of religious beliefs to pray for peace, stability and prosperity of the country.
She enjoins all to eschew bitterness, rancour and political bickering and embrace peace.
Her Excellency’s heart goes out to all parents, family, relations and associates of all the people who have lost their lives since these spate of incidents began, particularly the parents of the recently abducted children.
It is the prayer of Her Excellency that Almighty God will restore peace to our dear fatherland.
Mrs Ahmed hereby calls on the women of Kwara to join her at the prayer sessions on that date so as to beseech God Almighty to heal our nation.

ReplyDeleteOkay ooooo
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean the girls are not coming back home till maybe after 17th? Why can't the prayer session be scheduled for today/tomorrow
ReplyDeleteLike you all haven't prayed enough.? If it only had to do with100 days fasting, churches, nasfat, mosques etc Nigeria should have turned to paradise by now.
ReplyDeleteWho knows who is next?
Of course we should pray...and have been praying. Madam Excellency, face ya work ooo! Your other prayer point should be for your husband to stop impregnating random girls. I doubt you know how many baby mamas he has.
