INTERVIEW For A Job/Visa - Selfie Narrative.

Some years back,I went for a UK and American Visa's and the reasons they gave me for refusing me  would shock the living daylights off you..even with all the papers i presented, they said i didnt look like i would return to Nigeria after the visa expired.

I hissed and left both embassy's...today I travel without Visa to any Country in the world (except Asia)

Whats your funny/annoying visa or job interview story?

*This is for those who have been asking....The bank interview post of yesterday was pulled down because they contacted me and offered to contact the poster, find out what happened and how it happened and settle 'out of post' and i figured it might ruin her chances if the post is still running.
I am in communication with the poster and she will keep us updated of how it goes...
Thank you.

O boy see vexation! i am married , works at ------- oil & gas, has my own business, has 3 kids and traveling with my last daughter only, got hubby's consent letter which they didn't check. Nne what again? that i was angry but didn't show it left for the car pack got into my car and started yelling , meanwhile my daughter was busy singing " WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE" i felt like squeezing that song out of her mouth. 15. My friend Asia is not a country and you only travel without a visa stamp to EU countries I know because I hold an Eu passport as well. Most other countries you MAY be required to pay for your visa on arrival as opposed to applying before getting on the plane but only if you are staying for 90 days oh if your stay is longer than 90 days you have to get the appropriate category of visa beforehand if na work na work permit you go get if na to study na student visa be that even if it is America or Canada you are going to study in my dear you will need a student visa beforehand all that "visa free" travel is only for touristic purposes of less than 90 days you cannot live in someone's country without proper documents just because you hold an EU passport.

  19. Their reply to me(UK): "due to the BALANCE OF PROBABILITY (*same language*), I am not convinced abi satisfied that you will not return at the stipulated time! How can they be in my brain to know whether I will return or not". Just for a 2wks visa to add money to their economy oh. Maybe if these UK people are made to refund a certain amount from that visa few, they go know wuzup.

  20. Having visited the country and returned. I decided to apply for a dependant visa to join my husband. I was so sure I was going to get my visa because I have been in and out of the country. To my surprise, I was refused on the grounds that, I have no substantive evidence that I am married. After presenting my traditional n white wedding pics, court certificate, phone log, email addy, pictures of us, house rent receipt, bank details etc. How else cud I have proved that I was married to my husband? 22. Il go anon on this one.. I went for an interview,it was going well until the CEO decided to sit in,he joked about letting my bosom breathe, not using the buttons to the very top n letting a little cleavage show,i didn't laugh because it wasn't funny. 2 weeks later still no call,i called a lady who I got friendly with whilst there and she told me that I did very well but they need someone flexible and who can use her sexuality in retaining clients.. That was the very last of my job hunting,i gathered capital and started a business.. Also I was chastised for giving the advice I did on the raped by my boss post. I know first hand that nothing works the way it should in Nigeria,i was once deluded thinking I could change the world but that dream is dead. I used to work with a group of female advocates who protect women and children's right. the organisation begins with an F. My boss or rather ex-boss would give her life just to make sure justice is served to any rapist or so I thought until one very influential south south man raped the daughter of his housekeeper. I took the case to her and she immediately went to work, making calls and threatening hell for the accused. All of a sudden she went silent,3 months on and whenever I ask,she would say leave it to me,im working on it. The mother of the victim was on me so I decided to go to the station without my boss just to find out the state of things. The police lady who's also affiliated with the organisation (she handles most of the cases) was a little bit cold and refused to see me saying she was busy. She must have called my boss because as soon as we stepped out my boss called demanding to see me. In clear terms she told me that her hands were off and I should do the same, that it was a direct order from above . I was shocked beyond words. That was the last time I went there. She called me once and said we have a case, can you come review it? I replied 'with all due respect ma,what makes this case different?because the culprit is a low life nobody? She hasn't called me since then. Long story short; there's no true justice in Nigeria,i still maintain, let that raped girl set the senatorial aspirant for a fall. Collect all things collectable and keep them as evidence not for personal use.

I said no way oh. It's not like I will be reimbursed for the travel expenses. They called me like 4 times and I kept asking them to do phone interview cos I can't return to Lagos. Eventually they asked me a few questions over the phone and agreed to issue the visa. All this drama.

You hear stuff like You don't have a travel history at your age Or so you mean you have never travelled out of Nigeria in your life You should try with other countries, lol.

Linda Eze is right to an extent, most times when you have a good job, regular income, you get your visa. Then again, it goes wrong sometimes cuz one or 2 of my colleagues were refused visa. One of them was said to have too much money in her account, she reapplied and explained the source of the funds and they gave her the visa.

Personally, I have never had visa issues.

  32. Nigerians and desperation for visas. Personally I don't think everyone is entitled to get a US or UK visa. Even if you have the best job on earth and you are found ineligible in some way you won't be granted a visa. I live in the United States and I have come across a couple of Nigerians who don't even have a means to survive, yet they get US visas from Abuja or Lagos..How come? These people are lay abouts and they end up either doing yahoo yahoo or involving themselves in some kind of scam...US embassy needs to look into this so that only qualified and bonafide Nigerians get a US visa and not fraudstars

  37. I remember the first time I went for my US visa interview. They still had that old structure where you can hear everything the interviwer and the interviewee were saying. Omo see drama that day!
One gal that had (was actually forming) American accent was asked if she had been to the US before and how long....she said yes, she was in US for 1week (only 1week naim your accent change? Lobatan!) She was refused.

One family was denied cos the sponsor of the trip (the mans father) is a pastor. And according to the interviewer, a pastor shouldn't use church funds for personal use

One guy that claimed he lives and does biz in china was asked the name of the street he lives in china, the guy no sabi. They asked him, can you speak the language he said yes. Omo next thing they called a guy that speaks chinese! The guy rap the first few chinese, my naija guy say 'eh?'. visa denied!
