INTERVIEW For A Job/Visa - Selfie Narrative.
Some years back,I went for a UK and American Visa's and the reasons they gave me for refusing me would shock the living daylights off you..even with all the papers i presented, they said i didnt look like i would return to Nigeria after the visa expired.
I hissed and left both embassy's...today I travel without Visa to any Country in the world (except Asia)
Whats your funny/annoying visa or job interview story?
*This is for those who have been asking....The bank interview post of yesterday was pulled down because they contacted me and offered to contact the poster, find out what happened and how it happened and settle 'out of post' and i figured it might ruin her chances if the post is still running.
I am in communication with the poster and she will keep us updated of how it goes...
Thank you.

DeleteThey somtimes call u for an interview after u submit. They did for my sis when she applied for a student visa.
DeleteIt was granted at the end.
I was called 4 an interview 4 my UK visa
DeleteTravelling overseas with a baby to study is not advisable. Are you going with some help or alone. Child care is expensive o. And how will you combine studies and a baby. Or maybe you have an electric brain
DeleteI think you should keep your baby with your mum. You really need to think seriously about this.
I like when you know not and you ask, I am still saying it UK embassy conduct interviews. If only you are going for visiting is when they do the drop box thingyy gerrit!
DeleteEither settlement or the 4 tier student visa, u will be so scrutinised by those officials.
Pls always make your research b4 u insult people, and to those calling me a liar. Ejo e ma binu o! U know where the embassy is @all? Talkless of entering.
I love you all
Go back to the embassy annon that says they don't put it into writing, if its not visiting the reason would be attached to the doc you submitted while applying for your visa. Get your facts straight b4 you type

DeleteI met a friend 3 weeks ago when I went for a bank interview and he told me he was supposed to travel last month but the lady at the embassy told him that he looks like someone that won't return when his visa expires.
ReplyDeleteMz- T uk doesn't conduct interview..
ReplyDeleteThey do if they feel that ur reasons r not sufficient before they decided whether or not they wud give u d visa.happened wen I applied for a domestic visa for my nanny.

ReplyDelete'Thirded'
ReplyDeleteHope they conduct another interview for her soon
Which bank gist is that? I need summary of it all.
ReplyDeleteStella u are the best, Mine was so annoying. the interview was going smoothly and the next thing i heard was " sorry you have been found ineligible for a nonimmigrant visa, i asked why the VO or CO just ignored me and handed a paper to me. the paper or wateva said under the section 124 of US immigration law i have been found ineligible for the visa because of absence of strong tie. O boy see vexation! i am married , works at ------- oil & gas, has my own business, has 3 kids and traveling with my last daughter only, got hubby's consent letter which they didn't check. Nne what again? that i was angry but didn't show it left for the car pack got into my car and started yelling , meanwhile my daughter was busy singing " WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE" i felt like squeezing that song out of her mouth. US embassy in Nigeria! I COMMENT MY RESERVE
ReplyDeleteLol@ur daughter singing.I think u shld give them sometime n reapply. They"ll most likely give u.My sis-in-law had a similar experience, they gave her some years later.
DeleteMy friend Asia is not a country and you only travel without a visa stamp to EU countries I know because I hold an Eu passport as well. Most other countries you MAY be required to pay for your visa on arrival as opposed to applying before getting on the plane but only if you are staying for 90 days oh if your stay is longer than 90 days you have to get the appropriate category of visa beforehand if na work na work permit you go get if na to study na student visa be that even if it is America or Canada you are going to study in my dear you will need a student visa beforehand all that "visa free" travel is only for touristic purposes of less than 90 days you cannot live in someone's country without proper documents just because you hold an EU passport.
ReplyDeleteOde...why would she want to visit other than for touristic purposes naa....she lives in a highly civilized society, she no dey search for greener pastures ok
Delete1st time visitors to the UK are interviewed via webcam in the VFS centers.
ReplyDeleteSince wen?
DeleteThe first time I applied 4 a UK visa, I got it 6months n d 2nd time I got 2yrs. And last year I got US visa. It's just God's favour.
ReplyDeleteMine was at the uk embassy. They said they refused me because they aren't sure if I was gonna leave the UK the time I stated there(10 days) was gonna go for vac. Stupid people. They should hold their country for all I care. I've visited better places.
ReplyDeleteTheir reply to me(UK): "due to the BALANCE OF PROBABILITY (*same language*), I am not convinced abi satisfied that you will not return at the stipulated time! How can they be in my brain to know whether I will return or not". Just for a 2wks visa to add money to their economy oh. Maybe if these UK people are made to refund a certain amount from that visa few, they go know wuzup.
ReplyDeleteHaving visited the country and returned. I decided to apply for a dependant visa to join my husband. I was so sure I was going to get my visa because I have been in and out of the country. To my surprise, I was refused on the grounds that, I have no substantive evidence that I am married. After presenting my traditional n white wedding pics, court certificate, phone log, email addy, pictures of us, house rent receipt, bank details etc. How else cud I have proved that I was married to my husband? Annie L.P
ReplyDeleteThe bank details.... Did it show ur husbandd was suppporting you with atleast £533 monthly?
DeleteAnnie! If its for settlement na Prayer and conc fasting dey follow am o. And that money u pay @ the bank is not refundable, if you want to reapply na anoda money you go pay
DeleteHow do people who won't come back look like pls? I guess they look like Stella. Maybe they were right about Stella though. *tongue out*
ReplyDeleteIl go anon on this one.. I went for an interview,it was going well until the CEO decided to sit in,he joked about letting my bosom breathe, not using the buttons to the very top n letting a little cleavage show,i didn't laugh because it wasn't funny. 2 weeks later still no call,i called a lady who I got friendly with whilst there and she told me that I did very well but they need someone flexible and who can use her sexuality in retaining clients.. That was the very last of my job hunting,i gathered capital and started a business.. Also I was chastised for giving the advice I did on the raped by my boss post. I know first hand that nothing works the way it should in Nigeria,i was once deluded thinking I could change the world but that dream is dead. I used to work with a group of female advocates who protect women and children's right. the organisation begins with an F. My boss or rather ex-boss would give her life just to make sure justice is served to any rapist or so I thought until one very influential south south man raped the daughter of his housekeeper. I took the case to her and she immediately went to work, making calls and threatening hell for the accused. All of a sudden she went silent,3 months on and whenever I ask,she would say leave it to me,im working on it. The mother of the victim was on me so I decided to go to the station without my boss just to find out the state of things. The police lady who's also affiliated with the organisation (she handles most of the cases) was a little bit cold and refused to see me saying she was busy. She must have called my boss because as soon as we stepped out my boss called demanding to see me. In clear terms she told me that her hands were off and I should do the same, that it was a direct order from above . I was shocked beyond words. That was the last time I went there. She called me once and said we have a case, can you come review it? I replied 'with all due respect ma,what makes this case different?because the culprit is a low life nobody? She hasn't called me since then. Long story short; there's no true justice in Nigeria,i still maintain, let that raped girl set the senatorial aspirant for a fall. Collect all things collectable and keep them as evidence not for personal use.
ReplyDeleteIt's FIDA o,FiDA people..women's right indeed. Their case dey heaven
DeleteWhile waiting for youth service my brother asked me to come over to London for holiday and I applied for UK visa only to be denied reason no strong tie back home to show I will return that was 2007, after my service year I got a job at a bank and replied for UK visa for holiday I was again denied this time bcos I and my brother answer different surname, this time I got a lawyer from the UK to appeal my refusal and I was called to abuja and was given 6 months after it expiration I applied again and was given 2 years. As for America in 2010 when I applied I was denied reason I wont Come back, I went back 2013 after travelling to the UK, Dubai and India and I was giving an American Visa for 2 year.
ReplyDeleteawon ode who said Asia is a country. it means you can't say Africa. awon oversabi
ReplyDeleteI recently tried to renew my UK visa. I dropped the documents in VFS Lagos and returned to The state I reside. I got a call the next day asking me to return to Lagos to be interviewd. I said no way oh. It's not like I will be reimbursed for the travel expenses. They called me like 4 times and I kept asking them to do phone interview cos I can't return to Lagos. Eventually they asked me a few questions over the phone and agreed to issue the visa. All this drama.

ReplyDeleteUk embassy no get craze oh where US Embassy dey.
ReplyDeleteYou hear stuff like You don't have a travel history at your age Or so you mean you have never travelled out of Nigeria in your life You should try with other countries, lol.
Linda Eze is right to an extent, most times when you have a good job, regular income, you get your visa. Then again, it goes wrong sometimes cuz one or 2 of my colleagues were refused visa. One of them was said to have too much money in her account, she reapplied and explained the source of the funds and they gave her the visa.
Personally, I have never had visa issues.
Imagine, mine was on tuesday american embassy in abj, they asked if I was married, had kids how much I pay myself? And still slamed me with a rejection, walahi I see them as nigeria girls(am a lady by d way) who like lies they don't know I can produce a marraige cert n have kids with birth cert witin 2 hours yeye people dem no go make me who I no be
ReplyDeleteI have never gone for visa, i don't even know how to go about it. I married very early and got my EU passport immediately. I can enter any country of my choice . Anonymous 12:51 PM i agree with you completely on what you just said. Nigeria is a sick country.
ReplyDeleteLast year me n hubby to be were supposed to go to Spain together. Na so dem talk sey I can't justify my reason for travelling... even with all the pictures and documents! That was going to be my first time across d border. I've lost all interest now. Naija without boko is ok for me
ReplyDeleteDid u ppl later decide to go to dubai? I think I knw ur hubby, lol *wink *wink*
DeleteOsanobua!!! Annony how are you sure she is the one? sdkers amebo no be here
DeleteNigerians and desperation for visas. Personally I don't think everyone is entitled to get a US or UK visa. Even if you have the best job on earth and you are found ineligible in some way you won't be granted a visa. I live in the United States and I have come across a couple of Nigerians who don't even have a means to survive, yet they get US visas from Abuja or Lagos..How come? These people are lay abouts and they end up either doing yahoo yahoo or involving themselves in some kind of scam...US embassy needs to look into this so that only qualified and bonafide Nigerians get a US visa and not fraudstars
ReplyDeleteall of una no get problem. me with all my US-UK-schegen visas, China embassy would not give you visa except you go thru a trader agent who works with their agents inhouse to make u pay as much as 250k for a 1year business visa. Sister Stella I know you have no business in Asia as you said but we need Chinese embassy to stop this their corruption and milking of Nigerians becasue we wan even take our money do business with them
ReplyDeleteYea ever corrupt people
DeleteThanks for this post, please I intend to further my studies abroad and I need to know which country will easily grant a student visa as I'm planning to travel with my 8months old baby.please sdkers, advice needed.God bless you
ReplyDeletePinkshell bia come and share your experience too as a big girl with plenty achievements.
ReplyDeleteLinda is right. If you ve a good job,u are likely to get a visa.Except your body language is 'one kind',you may not get it. I ve passed all visa interviews cos I always act nonchallant and indifferent. Maybe na luck, but 'boning' works.
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I went for my US visa interview. They still had that old structure where you can hear everything the interviwer and the interviewee were saying. Omo see drama that day!
ReplyDeleteOne gal that had (was actually forming) American accent was asked if she had been to the US before and how long....she said yes, she was in US for 1week (only 1week naim your accent change? Lobatan!) She was refused.
One family was denied cos the sponsor of the trip (the mans father) is a pastor. And according to the interviewer, a pastor shouldn't use church funds for personal use
One guy that claimed he lives and does biz in china was asked the name of the street he lives in china, the guy no sabi. They asked him, can you speak the language he said yes. Omo next thing they called a guy that speaks chinese! The guy rap the first few chinese, my naija guy say 'eh?'. visa denied!
Dem no get choice but to give me 2years multiple. I was going to spend serious money in thier country.
Just applied for my first UK visa, if dem like make dem no give me. I dont care much
Lol!!!! Love all the funny stories
DeleteMe, I wanted to travel for two weeks with my boss and UK no gree. Just for two weeks and I would have been back as I work closely with my boss oh. I hope they give me when next I apply cos I don't even have the intention of staying more than my stipulated time. I always look forward to coming back to my country jare. Naija even with all the problems, I still love being here. My mama is is here, so I no fit go no come back naa. East or west, home is the best.
ReplyDeletePls how do I apply for uk visa for my kids who r minors, somebody help
ReplyDeleteStella, keep up the good work. Some people see themselves as gods once they occupy certain positions. I hope the people that sent that lady away from the interview will learn their lessons. People should not boast with material things because tomorrow is very far.
ReplyDeleteGoogle applying for UK visa for kids in Nig
ReplyDeleteWho are these babies of nowadays that are crying about drop box? When did drop box start? Stella, please educate them and let them know that hitherto, an interview system was in place. I appeared for one in 1989, you may need to give them dates instead of them thinking you are a liar.
ReplyDeleteLinda you are such an irritating idiot....I know lots of people who have descent jobs but are denied for various other reasons.......and you wide eyed you are a bigger fool to support Linda.......talking rubbish as if all the people who go look for visas are jobless and want to go and remain there.....some people have good jobs here but just want to go for holiday and are denied......
ReplyDelete
