PRESS RELEASE
''My attention has been drawn to reports in some section of the media regarding my speech at the occasion of PDP Women’s Prayer Session organised on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 to among others things, seek divine intervention for the release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls. As a mother, I have remained heartbroken and deeply pained by the unfortunate incident. My heart and thoughts have continued to go out to these girls and their families, hence my decision to mobilise other women to pray for them.
Our prayer points included prayers for security in Nigeria, prayers for the quick recovery of the victims of the Nyanya bomb blast and consolation prayers for families of the dead, prayers for the release of the abducted Chibok school girls in Borno State, prayers for all terrorist victims in Nigeria, and prayers for Nigerian Women and Children amongst other prayer points. Christian and Muslim religious leaders led these prayers.
However, it has come to my attention that part of my speech at the prayer session especially the questions I raised concerning the circumstances surrounding the abduction of these innocent girls was largely misunderstood.
Indeed with every sense of responsibility, I wish to reiterate that this is not the time to sensationalize issues particularly those relating to these innocent girls whose fate we are all deeply worried about.
In this regard, we all must ensure that we are not distracted in anyway whatsoever but collectively focus our energies towards actions that will accelerate the rescue and safe return of these girls to their families, a cause for which I and the PDP family will continue in prayers.
I therefore appeal to all Nigerians, especially the women not to relent but continue to pray along with me especially as we have been reassured that the Government and the security agencies are doing their best to ensure the rescue of our daughters.
Signed:
Amb. Dr. Kema Chikwe
PDP National Woman Leader.''
*This is what i call 360 degrees turn around, however for the sake of peace and national unity at this time,we embrace you Kema Chikwe.Thank you for explaining.
BORNO GOVERNMENT PRESS STATEMENT CONCERNING KEMA'S STATEMENT.
Mrs. Kema Chikwe, the National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had publicly questioned the story of the abduction of teenage school girls in Chibok, Borno State, saying there were many unanswered questions concerning the kidnap.
Among them, according to her, are: "How did it happen? Who saw it happen? Who did not see it happen? Who is behind this?” And towards obtaining answers, she demanded that the principal of the school should release the names and photographs of the abducted girls.
The Borno State government now says it would publish the names and pictures of the abducted girls, if permitted by tomorrow. The statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Isa Gusau, reads:
“We have read with very rude shock, media reports attributed to National Women
Leader of the PDP, raising doubts on whether indeed, schoolgirls were abducted at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok on April 14, 2014 or not. This is clear case of bringing politics into a serious national issue that bothers on the lives of over 200 schoolgirls which is highly unfortunate.
By her remark, Chikwe has undermined the integrity of all of Nigeria’s security forces because her questions appear to mean that the security agencies in the country do not know what they are doing for holding a National Security Council meeting and deliberating on something that was doubtful and yet giving directives to address it.
This incident happened 17 days ago, every Nigerian expects that by now, the security agencies must have been carrying out investigations that might have included debriefing some of the girls that escaped from captivity, speaking with parents and other students of the schools.
Chikwe’s remark seems to attack the integrity of the security agencies, giving the impression that nothing was done.
Unlike Kema Chikwe that seeks to undermine the integrity of the security agencies and the President, what we do know and believe is that the President, Goodluck Jonathan, couldn’t have deemed it necessary to host an expanded National Security Council that was attended by him, all Security chiefs, Governors of the 36 States and key leaders of this country during which the schoolgirls was extensively discussed if the President was not properly briefed by the security agencies under the Federal Government, that schoolgirls were abducted.
The school was virtually razed now, security agencies know this and they know that the attack and abduction took place. The Defence Headquarters have issued several statements including one that says forces were closing in on the abductors; we therefore wonder why Chikwe should make mockery of all of these patriotic efforts.
Even though most of the school buildings were razed during that attack and property vandalised, records of schoolgirls that registered for WAEC and NECO exams cannot be a difficult one to get since the examination bodies are there with records. In addition to that, parents lodged complaints that should naturally have the names of their children or wards. It is expectedly thought that security agencies would by now, have necessary information about these girls which might include their records.
However, the Borno State Government has a comprehensive data that includes pictures of the missing students and those that returned, which the Government is ready to publish on Friday, May 2, 2014 if the Defence Headquarters which has since been managing information on counter insurgency operations in the Northeast, gives the go ahead and Mrs Chikwe, who now knows more than the security can ensure that.
Our fear is not to reveal names that would reveal religion and family backgrounds which could at the end, compromise the safety of these girls; provide basis for families to be reached with demands for ransom or be accused of undermining rescue efforts or sensationalism.
In addition to these, abduction of girls are sometimes interpreted to mean automatic rape, where the identity of these are revealed, they could be stigmatized even after being rescued. Doubt raised by Mrs Chikwe displays insensitivity to the plight of parents of these girls and to the feelings of all Borno people. The Borno State Government is the most troubled by the incident.
The Governor of Borno State is as should be expected, under so much pressure from families and community members of Chibok and indeed the rest of the State. These girls are daughters of Borno, by being abducted while in school, the Borno State Government naturally comes under more pressure because they were abducted while being under our care as a Government, the school was not the only one in session when that attack took place, there were other schools were girls were writing exams. It might recalled that sometime back when there was rumours that some schoolgirls were abducted following an attack in Konduga, Governor Shettima directed a prompt investigation and after it was found out that no student was recorded missing, the Government told Nigerians that there was nothing like that.
Even on the one of Chibok which is the topic of discussion, Governor Shettima announced that 129 girls were at school as at the time of the attack, it was during his visit that parents who filed reports about missing students said the girls were over 200, it was clear to everyone that the Governor never had any intention of making claims of large numbers of missing persons.
It is important that the Nigeria security agencies call Mrs Chikwe to order so she desist from mocking the National Security Council and misleading Nigerians and rest of the world that have been attracted by this unfortunate incident which has left the Government and people of Borno State highly distressed.”

ReplyDeleteI never saw anything wrong in wot she said, even uptill now they are yet to release their pix n names. No need for vn a 360deg turn mam.
ReplyDeleteCos your inner eyes have been blinded noni....... @Q-Amy
DeleteThis rapist called ohms law, did dy send u after me. Tell ur senders if I catch u, I will roast both ur blokos ur horror teeth alife. Better go attend to ur passengers, bus conductor.
DeleteMay Yomslaw be able to close his big teeth one day, and marry Stephenie or Queen Amy in the name of May Day. Say Amen to that Queen.
DeleteThe media is horrible, they left every other thing she said and picked that. Silly people. The matter should be looked at critically and not with emotions. Nigerians most times piss me off. Kema there was absolutely nothing wrong with your ?
DeleteNo Stella, we do not embrace Kema. This turning around is just BS! She said what PDP had long concluded. IMO that's still how she feels. So unfeeling as a mom & unworthy to be called a woman. *spits*
ReplyDeleteGo And read the full inter again dumbo
DeleteAbeg Borno state Governor should take a chill pill. What has he done about d killings in dat state ever since ds whole thing started? Over 200 girls whisked away in his state and operation lasted over 4hrs, where were d securuty officers in d state? 200 girls are not 20 girls for crying out loud!!! Hw many trucks were used in ds operation, no teacher in d sch had a phone to call out or even snap? D girls just whisked away like dat and he just decided to wait for questions so he could gv answers??? What a state governor!!!
ReplyDeleteYou eat too much okro, so in the face of a boko Haram operation with such proximity you can bring out your own phone and snap. #mofo
DeleteDo u realise that the state is under emergency? The FG calls the shot with respect to security in the state via JTF! There is little the state governor can do under the present arrangement. Pls don't say what u know nothing about
DeleteThe security agencies u r referring to are under federal government. As for snapping with phones or making call,i guess u've not really encountered such a situation before hence d rubbish u wrote. Pple like u are d ones that will be snapping a drowning man instead of rescuing him.during the era of militancy in Niger Delta, was it not the federal government that stepped in? What did the state governors do?stop blabbing pls!
DeleteAs each day passes I realise how ignorant Nigerians are. Before a state of emergency was executed what did they do? The first blame should go to the governor that harboured them and housed them.
DeleteI personally didn't see her previous speech the way the Borno state govt and some people are interpreting it. I feel she raised valid points.
ReplyDeleteLet's learn to stop being unnecessarily sentimental.
Of course she made valid points!
DeleteNow are they not giving us wrong numbers again??
Just to go through their waec list and sort out this mess of not knowing completely the girls missing is indeed shocking!!
I just pray those girls are release to their parents, bcos I can imagine what they would be going tru right now.
ReplyDelete#EyesRolling she shldnt hv she shld hv stuck wit her earlier statements. I agree wit d state govt. They shld release deir names d pictures will do.
ReplyDelete*They shldnt
DeleteLike I said I'm sure she was misconstrued.
ReplyDeleteNeatochukwu warn ya mama..... cos when she was dropping wrapper for obj,i dint say anything ooh, tell her to shut tho hole on her face, the is not a fucking or sex matter, cos that's what she does best...
ReplyDeleteBrono government? Smh....they obviously know what is going on cos Kema didn't say anything wrong...
ReplyDeleteWhat r they afraid of? Can the Borno govt stand scrutiny with regards to this BH wahala?
If a family is going to be asked for ransom by unscrupulous element, won't they do that when they see the mother coming out to cry for the child?
How can u say asking for the name is not important? How can the story be verified? After all there have been so many conflicting versions?
Now you are trying to get military to be angry with the woman by making it look like she was questioning their competence....i saw what u did ther...hehehe..
But is this not the same military that announced that they've gotten the girls back? How competent can they be?
Lemme stop..cos I am sooo pained by this display of arrogance .stupid almajiris in power
Borno state govt tryna pitch the military against Kema...chai..
ReplyDeleteWicked inept Borno govt...Abeg shut up!!
Mama Naeto, we were expecting your denial. You couldn't even be bothered to do a proper denial, you claim to have been misunderstood when you were quoted word for word.

Dats ow they reason in der family! ndi Osu!
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Nigerian leaders is that once they get to power they forget that there are people suffering in the land, Aso Rock dose something to them. How can a mother be so insensitive??..How??!! They should try to mix with the masses and feel what they are feeling!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteStella - it is 180 degree turn not 360 because 360 makes a complete circle & will bring you back to square one.
Back to matter at hand. I have never seen a county where having an opinion can alienate one! There was absolutely nothing wrong with what Ms Chikwe said considering the fact the government felt zero need to inform the general public of the facts on ground. No I am not talking about releasing names or pictures. Look at the idiots now coming out to give specific answers to this lady's statement. And we Nigerians are sitting down abusing her?! Abeg she did great! Because it forced the government to come up with answers that each & everyone of you here have asked and thought of.
I so detest the Nigerian's government's attitude to it's citizens, that they are not in any way shape or form obligated to giving the public complete information of ongoing events. No one is asking them to give us the military strategy of how they are bringing these girls back but they are obligated to tell us exactly how it happened, when it happened, how many missing etc (past events). If for anything, it will be a learning point for other schools in the area to take note & protect themselves.
Rubbish! I cry for my country. And yes Stella you definitely are wrong in assessing Ms Chikwe the way you did.
This is the most info we have read concerning this girls so kudos to her!

Kema...why not concentrate on sucking Obasanjo's d#ck. No put eyes where you no sabi.
ReplyDeleteStella obviously doesn't like the woman. If not, she would have published Kema Chikwe's full speech instead off what Saharareporters said Kema said!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, she wasn't wrong but it was obviously not the right time to say what she said and she didn't choose her words rightly. Now the obvious conclusions to draw from her statements are;
ReplyDelete1. Yes some girls were kidnapped in Chibok
2. The number is insignificant. Whether it is 1 girl or 234 girls, they are all important and deserve 100percent attention.
But the questions are;
1. What are the total number of people in Chibok (an obviously small village)?
2. What is the total number of students in the school?
3. We were told the students were preparing for WAEC, how many students are in SS3?
4. Are we trying to say that in that small village there are 234 students in SS3 preparing for WAEC?
These questions need to be answered in all honesty. But before then, we need to remind ourselves that regardless of the number, they are our daughters, sisters, friends and country women so we have to do all that is within our power to protect them and bring them back. The number ins inconsequential. Even if only one girl was abducted, we have to bring that girl back.
The issue of numbers will have to come to play when and if the girls are rescued so we can ascertain whether or not the rescue operation was 100 percent successful i.e if we are able to rescue 134 girls, we would not go on and start searching for another 100 when in real sense the girls were 134.
That should be her statement and it should have come after a reasonable number of the abducted girls have been rescued.
I want to also add that, we should not just write on the internet but we should take out at least one minute of our time to actually say a prayer for these girls and ask God for wisdom and the grace to do what is right, for the President and all in authority. Writing 20pages of prayer on the internet does not suffice for prayer. We are 170 million vibrant people. Let us pray. And not only pray but ask as well. The bible says, Faith without works is DEAD.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA! GOD BLESS OUR PRESIDENT AND LEADERSHIP! GOD BLESS OUR CHIBOK SISTERS, DAUGHTERS, FRIENDS AND COUNTRY WOMEN
I am still not satisfied with her response. SHE DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB CLARIFYING? I DON'T KNOW WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT. WHAT IS HER STANCE?
ReplyDeleteAs expected barrage of criticism will begin to pour in. Can we as Nigerians even pause and think for a while? Where has our senses gone to? Where has our conscience gone to? Must everything about our lives have political undertones? Why do we try to straighten a shadow instead of the object that casted the shadow? Why do we always blame the federal government for any mishap viz terrorist attack, natural disaster, even womanly miscarriage. These faceless criminals called boko haram are being emboldened by our attitude whenever they attack us, we fail to take the battle to them. We instead resort to blaming the government. America was attacked by al-qaeda and they all came out and shed their political leaning and responded as one. See malaysia of yesterday, an airplane got missing and the whole nation came out as one. No one has asked anybody to resign and that was when i began to wonder if they have political parties, and to my chagrin they do have. Some girls were kidnapped in chibok and all we got was protest in abuja. BRING BACK OUR GIRLS as if someone in abuja took them to sambisa forest. Till date we are yet to know the actual number of girl that are missing, the school principal cannot give account, no register, no photograph how do we even know people are missing? Why cant Oby Ezekwesili and her hired goons march to sambisa forest and protest or borno government house. Oby Ezekwesili and her group are mandating the federal government to bring back the girls when she either ignorantly or consciously does not know that in hostage situation you dont apply force, else the hostages will be used as human shield. Boko haram bombing will never end, not until we change our attitude towards them by telling them what they are..... Terrorists and Criminals
ReplyDeletePlease, who do we blame, the devil? Boko haram has been doing this for so long and the government had done next to nothing about it.. The pekoe they are supposed to be governing are dying ... Your president is too proud to resign.. Checkout the South Korean pm, someone with a conscience... In the media chat your president said it was trivial... Sit down there and support him.. It's because if pekoe like you that our country is where it is today..
DeleteCleopatra
You right on point there.
