America's Oldest Is 115 Years Old

The oldest living American, one of the few living people born in the 19th Century, has marked her 115th birthday.

Jeralean Talley was born on 23 May 1899 and is the world's second-oldest person, according to a list maintained by the Gerontology Research Group.
The oldest is Misao Okawa in Japan, who is 116, according to the group.
Asked how she has lived so long, Ms Talley told the Detroit Free Press: "It's all in the good Lord's hands. There's nothing I can do about it."
She plans to celebrate with family and friends at a local church in Michigan on Sunday.
Born in Montrose, Georgia, she moved to Michigan in 1935 and had one child with her husband, Alfred, who died in 1988.
Her daughter Thelma Holloway, 76, lives with her mother in Inkster in Wayne County, and three more generations of her family live nearby.

Ms Holloway helps with her mother's care, although a fishing trip last year is evidence of Ms Talley's continued good health, and she can still walk with the aid of a walking frame.

*wow.....

  3. Wow! As long as I won't need anyone to wipe my ass and carry me around, and still have all my teeth to chew meat, I want to be that old too. Amen
We have older people in Nigeria I'm sure, the problem is they don't know their ages, or they don't have proof to back up their ages. I've seen obituaries of 120 and above.

  11. @nuvi many of the nigerian obituaries you see with ages of 110 years and above have false ages. How many of those old people know their actual ages? When they die, their family members just do guess work. Many of those people died in their 80s. Recall that in the olden days, girls/women were married off early (teens). So if their first child is 60 years, how come the mother is 120 years?

In Nigeria if you clock 70 thank God
Cos our life expectancy is short.

  14. I know someone who was 130yrs old before she died.. And she did know her age because she came from a highly educated family...

I know some people who lived over 100yrs too.. There was a man that died at 125. His children, grandchildren, great grand children and greatest(don't know what to say here) grand child came for the burial... That's what the obituary read: survived by a wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a son from the great grand child, which makes it greatest grand child...
