ReplyDeletelola was not silent. She posted some things on her facebook page related to the matter. I don't believe Jude that lola is not the problem. The fact of the matter is that one cannot force love. The Okoyes as a family do not love her. Period. She simply was not their first choice. And the Okoye family does not consist of Peter, Paul, and Jude. They are just 3 members of a large extended family that don't want her because she is significantly older than Peter, has an arrogant demeanor, and is not from Anambra state (not because she is yoruba). Additionally, in Igbo culture, a man (and his family) marry a woman and not vice versa. The person coming into the family is supposed to be differential to the husband's family. I get the sense that lola entered her marriage with the attitude that the Okoye's were to kiss her bum because she is educated, yoruba, mixed, and lives in Lagos. To core Igbos living in the East, none of that means anything when it comes to showing respect to in-laws.
