President Obama Loses Aunt To Breast Cancer...

President Obama’s aunt, Zeituni Onyango, who won asylum in 2010 after living illegally in Boston for several years, died on Monday night in a nursing home in the city, her legal team said.

The law office of Margaret W. Wong, one of Onyango’s immigration lawyers, confirmed on Tuesday that she died the night before in her sleep at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Harborlights facility in South Boston.

Onyango, 61, had taken ill in January and suffered from breast cancer and respiratory problems, Wong and a relative said. Information on funeral arrangements was not available.
The White House had no comment on Onyango’s passing. She was a native of Kenya and moved to South Boston in 2000, Wong’s office said. She was the half-sister of Obama’s late father.

A receptionist at the South Boston nursing home where Onyango died said on Tuesday that no one was available to speak with the media.culled

  6. To the person that says the man does not associate with his African side then it is very clear that you have not read "Dreams from my Father" I suggest you read it first then come back and make intelligent comments and FYI he is very very very close to his very African sister Dr.Auma Obama who is always at the white house and vacations with his family. His Kenyan family were in his bridal party his Kenyan brother was his bestman and sister one of Michelle's bridesmaids.

  9. lisa spencer you are such an ignorant bitch yet you delight in commenting on every story......you are so pathetic......if you have no facts shut the eff up already...bunmi let me educate you.....being in an institution doesnt mean you have no family who cares for you.....families keep their loved ones there so they have round the clock care cos they have to go to work and do other things while some have no family member at all...gosh ignorance here is appalling

  11. She mightn't have had the best care. She was an undocumented immigrant who was almost awaiting deportation to Kenya. Her asylum may have gone awry and without a good health insurance goodluck to her getting any comprehensive health care.

  12. Lisa Spencer no wahala if you watched both inaugurations both families were there mother and father side both half sisters Maya and Auma vacation with his family it seems those are the two sisters he is close to. Both his mother and maternal grandparents are dead the only living close relative from his mother is his sister Maya whom he grew up with so it would make sense that they have a special bond he only physically met Auma when he was in college but he always communicated with his fathers family all this while it his Kenyan aunt who placed the call to him when his father died. Try and read his autobiography it will shed a lot of light. This aunt that passed away he once visited when she was still in Kenya it's all in the book find it and read it.
