President Jonathan Summons Governors And Members Of National Security Council‏ Over Security Challenges.

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
SECURITY CHALLENGES: PRESIDENT JONATHAN SUMMONS GOVERNORS AND MEMBERS OF NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has summoned members of the National Security Council to a meeting tomorrow at the Presidential Villa against the background of recent events and developments in the country.
The meeting which will be presided over by President Jonathan is scheduled for 1100 hours.

Those expected at the meeting include Vice President Namadi Sambo, the Minister of Defence, Lt.-Gen Aliyu Gusau, the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the State Security Services and the Director-General of National Intelligence Agency.

The meeting of the National Security Council will be followed at 1300 Hours by an enlarged meeting on security developments in the country to which President Jonathan has invited State Governors.

President Jonathan, members of the National Security Council and the state governors will review the security situation in the country as well as ongoing national security measures and operations with a view to determining the best way forward.

President Jonathan reassures all Nigerians and persons living in the country that the Federal Government remains very mindful of its responsibility for the safety of their lives and properties in all parts of Nigeria and will continue to do everything possible to protect them from the scourge of terrorism and insecurity.

The President is particularly concerned about the plight of the young Senior Secondary School girls who were reportedly abducted from their school in Borno State on Monday night and has ordered the military and national security agencies to deploy maximum efforts towards rescuing all of the girls and returning them safely to their parents. He welcomes reports that the military and security agencies have already rescued some of the girls.

President Jonathan deeply regrets the pain, sorrow and anguish brought upon many Nigerian families in recent days as a consequence of recurring security challenges which the nation is contending with.

The President remains convinced that with the patriotic commitment and support of all Nigerians, the country will ultimately overcome its present challenges and move forward in unity and strength.

In this regard, President Jonathan will be pleased to see all politicians in the country exhibiting greater responsibility and patriotism by doing more to support his administration’s sincere efforts to enhance national security rather than trying to build political capital out of the pain and misery of their compatriots.

    2. My point...
I think everyone should fight this, we can't all expect goodluck to go there and fight, when we were in kd and there was a riot during objz time how many people waited for soldiers
Our men stood up, went in search of their other christain brothers and killed muslims also in the process
The average nigerian youth doznt want to stand up and fight,if you tell them to gather for dmp or pool parties in abuja that's all they are good for
Where are the didan kimathiz of our time? Or malcolmX we do not have willing youths who are ready to fight for our country
I swear goodluck can't do it alone, most of the youths are saying they would run to their states, what if boko finishes with the north and enters the east is that when we would all fight back
The isrealists fought back in the bible and I know they knew God better than we do, we can't wait for God
Rather with the help of God we would fight back, let's make aa silent army of our own, train and get ready
In southern kaduna any time muslims rise up to challange the christains they fight for themselves we too can do that
Help the government too, I know of a catholic church in maiduguri who dicided to fight back and protected their church with guns saying if they died there atleast they died fighting back
We have to fight back the boko muslims aint more than we christains
Weda we like it or not this is war, this is how it started in ruwanda from normal hatred to full blown war
We would pray, we should pray but we should also fight back, everyone should get a fucking gun mehn, fight back no matter how you are, you sense any aboki trying to fuck you up, you shoot
The govt has to listen to us and accept thisn we have to fight for our country if we cliam to love it, taking selfies and husband snatching wunt cut it biliv me mehn

  3. Aunty Stella GEJ read my point#3 on a previous post below:
3#- Why is all these the job of the president. Don't we have a senate who should be voting on declaring war or passing some kind of law?
***This is my tot exactly the country's security is not only the job of the president. As the bible says "God save Israel out of all its trouble". God please save Nigeria out of all its trouble.

  4. I think the most annoying thing is that Jonathan never addresses the nation when tragedy like this strucks. 20 mins TV broadcast is enough to pacify the pain we feel but no, he'd rather go and do faaji and send Abati to come and yarn dust. Always summoning and not taking one single action, I bet he would also organize a committee to analyse how the bomb exploded.

  5. Mr President is like you don't get it,once you guys have an open meeting,an open party or a open gathering; they tend to strike again;you need to change your strategy and improvise;its obvious most of the leaders even in the so-called PDP do not like him as their leader (YES don't be surprise), Mr President you can do this by your self, you don't even need much noise, get an underdog, contact security experts abroad, this your open meeting propaganda should stop, its obvious that the sponsors are more technical and have better information on the goings in the county; don't act a coward and act let this people destroy all you have laboured for, change your strategy;after this meetings with the governors;there might be anothrr strike; we have prayed but let's also use our brain.

    1. Oh Kaycee shut your trap, you try sound smart but you are pretty dumb. So calling the governors and service chiefs is now propaganda in your books? Define propaganda? So he can do this all alone ba? In a federal system of government ? Without consulting anybody? Even Obama does not make any decision without consulting his party and the congress so shut the fuck and stop trying to sound like you know it all. Foreign contacts yea, like he told you he hasn't consulted them already. He should come out and recite classified information so your likes will be satisfied.

  6. I hope he terminates their appointments as they gather there cos as far as I am concerned they are just collecting salaries for nothing!! Whoever is not ready to deliver should tender his resignation. Innocent people are dying because of these group of men listed here. If not for any other thing, most of these security leaders are northerners. Charity begins at home. Can't they at least for the sake of their people try to save their northern zones from these calamities? Wickedness in high places.

  7. They are making the country ungovernable because the President is from that part of `Nigeria right? so the next president will come from the other part and they will expect peace? why are we one Nigerian if the leaders can only come from one part of Nigeria???

  10. WORST PRESIDENT EVER to come out of FGN. He is calling meeting after dancing kukere today at Kano for political rally, medicine after death. I believe when people criticise you as human, you work hard to prove them wrong but not this man. With all criticism the past years and weeks he doesn't change his attitude toward issues facing the nation, Nigeria is boiling and we don't need weakly as head of state. He is surrounded by bad advisers from all angle, I pray he doesn't rule this nation next year because another 4years of GEJ is goodbye for Nigeria.

  14. Jonathan and Reuben, stop talking and start acting NOW. It is absolutely disgraceful of u to call for a meeting after attending a party and a rally. It shows where ur interest lies.

I stopped believing in u a long time ago Jonathan. I thot u would redeem my country. U re yet to do that. Start acting and secure the lives of Nigerians. Sack those who cannot perform. Imprison those who have been found corrupt. Create jobs Jonathan and for heaven's sake, provide electricity.

  17. Fellow Nigerians, we have spoken evil collectively over this land; we have looked the other way when evil was perpetrated and we are reaping the harvest of seeds sown.

It's time to exchange our vocal diatribes and insensitive nonchalance against Nigeria and its leadership to making God ordained decrees to recover the indefatigable soul of our nation. Thankfully we are not strangers to prayer and fasting in Nigeria ....

If we were as continuously and consistently desirous of good as the enemy is desirous of evil, we would emerge victorious.

At this moment we decree Divine Wisdom Understanding Counsel Might Knowledge and Fear of The Lord (Isaiah 11:1-5) upon the leadership of Nigeria.

Regardless of the attendees' political and ungodly agenda, regardless of their religious spiritual inclination or persuasion, we decree that it is the purpose of The Lord that will stand (Isaiah 46:11).

We carry Divine judgment to the gate of the enemy (Isaiah 28:6) to frustrate the tokens of liars we make diviners mad turn their evil wisdom and knowledge backward into their own foolishness and destruction (Isaiah 44:25).

We decree the obliteration of evil in this land and the enthronement and establishment of the will, purpose and righteousness of The Lord (Isaiah 46:11).

    PSALM 68:1-5
"Let The Lord arise, let His enemies be scattered: let them also that hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of The Lord. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before The Lord: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto The Lord, sing praises to his name: extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His Name JAH, and rejoice before Him. A Father of the fatherless, and a Judge of the widows, is The Lord in His holy habitation"
