President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has received with sadness, news of the passing away of one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal luminaries, Chief Godwin Olusegun Kolawole Ajayi at the weekend in Lagos.
On behalf of himself and the Federal Government, President Jonathan extends sincere condolences to Chief Ajayi’s family, friends, colleagues and associates in the legal profession, and the many Nigerians whose cause and rights he vigorously defended throughout his outstanding career.
As they mourn the eminent Senior Advocate of Nigeria, President Jonathan urges them to be consoled by the knowledge that Chief Ajayi lived a very fulfilled life, and will even in death, continue to serve as an enduring model of dedication to truth, equity and justice for all.
The President also commiserates with Governor Babangida Aliyu, the people of Niger State and the Agaie Emirate on the sudden death of the Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar at the relatively young age of 52.
He prays that Almighty Allah will grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the pain of losing the Emir at a time when he still had so much to offer his community through wise and selfless leadership.
