Mother Of Six Girls Arrested For Buying Baby Boy One Year After Purchase.

The Imo State Police Command through its Anti-kidnapping Squad has arrested a 50-year old woman, Anne Soronnade who allegedly bought a day-old baby boy for N600,000 in 2013.
This is what happened......

The  Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulmajid Ali said the suspect bought the baby in February, 2013 from one Mrs. Martina Obioha who hails from Amume Amajie in Isu Local Government Area of the state and runs a maternity home.

The mother of the child, one Blessing Ezigbo was said to have been sent out by her parents when they discovered she was pregnant. she later met one Madam Nnenna who accommodated her and took care of her until she was delivered of the baby.
when Ezigbo was delivered of the child,Madam Nnnena requested for N30,000 from her being the charge for taking care of her when she was pregnant.

Madam Nnenna took the child from the mother who went back to her parents at Okwuekpe Village in anticipation of raising the money but before Ezigbo’s return, Nnenna had sold the baby to Mrs Obioha who operates an illegal maternity centre.

Meanwhile Soronnade, mother of six girls had deposited the sum of N200,000  with Obioha since December 2012 with a promise to pay the balance when a baby boy was available. Ezigbo’s child eventually ended in up with her.

Ezigbo reported the case to Imo Security Network, a local security outfit which recovered the child from Soronnade. However, rather than hand the child over to his biological mother,  the child was returned to the buyer allegedly after more money had changed hands.

Disappointed by the manner the Imo Security Network handled the matter, Ezigbo lodged a fresh complaint with the police, which swung into action and made some arrests. The police anti-kidnapping squad led by Supol Okocha Ndubueze arrested Soronnade and recovered the child after one year and one month while Obioha who sold the child is said to be at large.

The police then invited the mother of the child to the  Anti-kidnapping Squad station to identify her child after one year and a month that the baby was sold.

The buyer Soronnade said, “ I am  happily married . I have six girls but I was looking for a boy. I have visited all the motherless baby homes if I could adopt a baby boy but they all turned down my applications.
“My first daughter is 25 years old while my last child is 18 years old. I was desperate to have a baby boy. My husband never quarreled with me because I didn’t give him a male child but I needed a baby boy.
It is true that I had to pay an advance  payment of N200,000 to Madam Martina Obioha who claimed to have a maternity home to get me a baby boy when it was available.
She sold the child to me in February 2013 after paying the balance. I took the baby home and my husband didn’t complain. I breastfed the baby and named him Chukwudim. It was one year later that the policemen from Anti-Kidnapping Squad came and arrested me in my house. It is only God that can deliver me from this mess,” she said amid tears.- Sun

PS: Adoption should be made easy to discourage illegal 'transactions' like this mbok.

Thats the same dynamic in my family, 4 girls n 1 boy, d boy is d 4th and im sure my mum wished my little sis was a boy then...but now, to God's glory, we are all married with kids. We are their pride n joy, all my uncles that were making fun.of my mum then cus she had all gals, while they had boys n no gal, they are all very envious of them now, seeing the way God is using us to take care of them at their old age.
They have the best of things, my mum always say she cant believe she is the going on vacation to any country of their choice.
We make sure she wears d best at any occasion because i remember d day she had to pawn her gold jewelry to pay my sister's school fee, i told myself that day, that as long as God blesses me, my mother will always wear the best i can afford....
Iya mi, abiyamo toto, u shall live long to see me in greater successes, u shall not live in sorrow or pain. The enemy shall not use us to cause u sorrow...My parents are the best, i will stand on the rooftop and scream that...God's grace upon you shall never diminish in Jesus name

  14. I feel so sorry for d woman. Her husband may not be complaining but what about in-laws and relatives, d society she belongs in they must av been complaining. The pressure must be overwhelming for her to take this step. Did I hear someone say your husband should be your outermost concern? please this is Africa and believe it or not a home is still not considered complete without a male child. Pressures from our society....sad

  20. I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO WANT A BOY..AFTER 2 GIRLS I WAS SO DESPERATE TO HAVE A SON, I PLEADED TO GOD AND MY HUSBAND CONSTANTLY MADE PRAYER REQUESTS FOR A BOY...WHEN I GOT PREGNANT AND THE RADIOLOGIST TECH SAID IT WAS A BOY I SCREAMED WITH JOY..I WAS SO HAPPY..THE DESIRE FOR A MALE CHILD ESPECIALLY FOR IBOS IS INTENSE....I DONT FAULT THIS WOMAN....I KNOW A WOMAN IN HER 70'S WHO PAID 1 OR 2 MILLION FOR A BABY BOY, BCOS HER ONLY SON DIDNT PRODUCE A MALE CHILD...

PLEASE I HOPE THEY DONT CRUCIFY THIS WOMAN HABA AFTER 6 GIRLS..I CAN IMAGINE THE DESIRE TO HOLD A MALE CHILD...THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF NIJA WOMEN WHO HAVE BOUGHT BABIES, THINKING IT IS LEGITIMATE...AND THE MIDDLE MAN PROVIDES ALL THE PAPERWORK FOR THEM...SHE IS JUST GOING TO BE A SCAPE GOAT...

  23. They all deserve to be punished because they were involved in a criminal activity. This woman is acting like a victim- the buyer isn't a victim. Why is it so difficult to be content with what you have? God gave you three girls already and it's not good enough and you go buy a human being. They ought to be arrested! Including her husband. Idiots.
