Reps Probe Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke's N10bn Private Jet Expenses

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a resolution to probe an alleged spending of N10bn by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to charter and maintain a jet for her personal use.

The resolution indicated that the minister spent 500,000 Euros or N130m monthly to maintain the aircraft in the last two years.
“Thus, in the last two years, the minister has committed at least N3.120bn to maintaining the private jet, which is used solely for her personal needs and those of her immediate family, which is an appalling act”, the sponsor of the motion, Mr. Samuel Adejare, told the House.

He alleged that other “wasteful” costs associated with the minister’s frequent trips with the jet were “currently estimated at N10bn, which include payment of allowances to the crew for trips, hanger parking and rent based on the lease agreement.”
The All Progressives Congress lawmaker from Agege Federal Constituency in Lagos State, argued that, at a time of dwindling resources, it was a “breach of  public trust” and “impudence” for a government official to fly “all over the world, obviously for leisure.”

  1. What! All these monies to mantain private jet! What sort of private jet is that? If I may ask, why does a Minister need a private jet in the first place? The way these so called leader are squandering the nations wealth is becoming unbearable.

  7. The sack of this woman is long overdue, since our leaders can't resign from office out of respect from their personalities when they are connected to any scandal, then they should be sacked while investigations are ongoing, and not just sacking, if they are found guilty, they should dance to the music of the law

  17. This woman and her female colleagues in government should have been an example on how things can be changed in our society when women are in government but they always choose their pockets and families. After stealing money mean't for poor masses God in heaven will bless them with uncureable disease, they start flying from London to Us looking for cure. The evil the put us in Nigerian will leave with them in this life not later. A mother wasting money that can develop her community while her son's are parting in clubs and flying with jets all around states. I feel sorry for our youths, I wish we can one day be united in one voice drop tribal and religious sentiment dividing us. This people can't take care of their homes, how can they take care of 200million citizens? Waste of Resource. Notting will ever come out of investigation. When you want jungle justice in Nigeria people that need it most are Nigeria LEADERS/POLITICIANS.

So they send there people to read blog that's why at the end of the day,we now see positive happen after several outcry on blog for example the NIS stuff and even Stella oduah..

I have been some where with my husband to one of his mentors some time last month and I was surprised he called your blog(I think I left a comment about it last month in a post) and talked about some issues that were discussed in one of your post and how people commented.

Blogs are now our source of airing our view,so lets do that wisely and hope they change a little...

Sdk you should see how American lawyers, Nigerian groups, etc are scrambling over themselves to sue the USA over Abacha's frozen loot. $458 million cash. You go fear.

They should share the money to all Nigerians. $3 cash will be guareented to all.

As for the Petroleum Minister...I will wait and see.

  35. It is obvious that dis great nation is not going to be better,d govt has made it difficult to strive hence d so called leaders stealing from our eyes after been elected or imposed on us.
Egypt, algeria and morocco suffered d same trends not until they fought for themselves.
Nobody will build dis nation if we can't fight for our right! Am not saying we should take upon ourselves by carry ammunition but we should come all out to say "it is enough"
No job, electricity, security and d host of other social amenities. I cry always knowing fully well that we(future of tomoro) are not recognized even now, while we are still are in our youthful stage!!!
Dieziani and co. chose to be a torn on our flesh and we still stand to complain and cry under dis so called platform(social media). Mind u,revolution in egypt started by mere words on twitter but see today,d egyptians are enjoying d dividend of cries...
We need revolution now!!! And d Bible states clearly dat d Kingdom of God suffereth violence, and only violence wud take it by force...we need to mobilize ourselve now and say NO to oppression, corruption and intimidation....let's go on twitter and create a platform! A platform our generation to come will acknowledge wit or witout us! We can do dis brothers! Peaceful revolution....let's come all out in our tens and thousands;let's show our leaders dat we can no longer stand dis shame and pain...we are due for joy and peace and since dat can't be achieved taks t their selfish ways dey av to step aside for dis great country to grow... On twitter we going start with an harsh tag revolution(#revolution)
Let's create this and let's show d nation dat we want accountability and a conducive environment and economy!! I end this by saying "justice for one,is justice for all"
    Thank u!

  36. I believe that we are not being very sincere about probing NNPC because all the hullabaloo about the endemic fraud at NNPC have been corroborated by the NEITI (Nigerian Extractive Industries) audit. The subsidy for one is nothing but a scam.If it costs about N150.00 to import PMS from Europe, with all the associated charges for Freight,Port, Margins, Export taxes, where then is the subsidy for PMS produced within, by the four local Refineries, despite their contrived challenges?Where also are the margins on Kerosene, Diesel, and other by-products, produced within or on the Crude barter programme abroad? Questions and more Questions. What is the relative efficiency production cost (Not NNPC overtly inflated cost) of a litre of PMS and Kerosene produced within? An independent forensic valuation of this will be the way to go, towards full deregulation of the Petroleum industry.

  37. Question is,who put her there? Who's shielding her? Why is she so brazen? Your guess is as good as mine! Yet some of us would be opposing change. If they loot,if their friends loot,if they don't believe anyone is looting, then we must boot them out! We have the power NOW! They will come to us begging for votes, throwing up sentiments-religious & ethnic. But we REFUSE to be played again! Not again! Every leader in this country from 2015 will be put there by us & REMOVED by us-the youths! Yes we can!

Whoever you're, know for sure that you can wear the most expensive clothes, wrist watches, have the most expensive car etc. Enjoy it for now because soon, you will all walk the last walk and then all those properties become useless to you. Make amends while you're still alive! hmmm! Alot of people are going through hell( widows, orphans etc), yet.........hmmm. Be warned! be warned!
