Nigeria's Minister of Interior Aba Moro Clarifies Granting Of Visa To Islamic Preacher.

The Minister of Interior, Aba Moro, on Sunday clarified that government granted visa to the Islamic preacher, Abu Philips, because he was not in the country’s blacklist.
Moro made the clarification to newsmen at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, shortly after the Centenary thanksgiving service attended by President Goodluck Jonathan.

He reacted to online report which alleged that government granted visa to a controversial Islamic preacher.
The online report described Philips as “an extremist and Islamic terror preacher, who lives in Qatar and was banned by governments in UK, U.S., Australia, Germany, Kenya and other countries across the world’’.

Moro said: “let me say this that every country has its own requirement for the grant of visa and in Nigeria’s situation, especially against the backdrop of our security challenges, we also have our requirement for granting of visas.
We have our own blacklist too of people that because of our security situation should not be allowed into the country. And this preacher that you talk about for instance did not fall within the list of people black listed for their activities that are inimical to internal security.
If his preaching and the content of what he has submitted for the granting of visa that will not undermine the security of the country, then certainly we will grant him the visa.
That is the purpose we have achieved here.''

Moro added that Nigeria as a sovereign nation should not be guided by the dictates of other countries and should be able to take its decision at every point in time.

“When the Nigerian government signed the Anti-Gay Law and the West was complaining, we stated that Nigeria nation is a sovereign country that should be allowed to determine its destiny and practices. And so, we will not use now the refusal of visa by Germany, UK as a basis for refusing anybody visa here,’’ ..culled

*I just hope you will not eat your words later sir!!!

    2. we should make our decision based on facts we have not on what other countries have done. The US once denied entry to hiv positive visitors. So we should have followed suit and when they lifted the ban, followed suit again?

  3. I think Nigerians need to start building underground shelters in their backyards. The government doesn't give a flying fuck if the whole country gets blown to smithereens, as long as they and theirs are safe, which they actually are. I can pray that innocent people don't pay with their lives for this.

  15. Mr Minister sir, be it known to you that you have granted visa to an Islamic extremist and more dangerously, to a preacher. I hope you will be man enough to stand by your actions when push comes to shove. If a dreaded Islamic extremist and preacher is not on your watch list, then, even you cannot be trusted. Nigerians, God is our keeper!

  16. We should learn to understand the context of politics in the global world that we live in. People have not asked why Bilal Philip was denied visas to the countries mentioned. Different countries have their ways of playing politics and this should be noted before we jump into conclusion. Just because the man was denied visa to the US, or UK does not mean that he is a supporter of terrorism. The same man was in Gambia recently and nothing happened. We should go beyond this kind of blackmail and understand how things work. For example, Ghana is planning not to allow TB Joshua to her country, what does it mean? They have their argument for that. But the same TB Joshua will be fully allowed and hosted by the President of Malawi....what is the difference? All is the politics of these countries. Don't be fooled....Bilal Philip was not allowed to the US, UK, etc because he criticizes their religious and foreign policies, not because he "supports" terrorism.
